The Weekend Team News

Charlie Austin looks set to be sidelined for Southampton’s clash with Middlesbrough due to a shoulder injury. Hector Bellerin faces a late fitness test as Arsenal entertain Stoke, while Tom Heaton has a chance of returning in time for Burnley’s encounter with Bournemouth.

Hector Bellerin is set for a fitness test today as he steps up his recovery from an ankle problem ahead of Arsenal’s home match with Stoke.

Tom Heaton is expected to be fit for Burnley’s clash with Bournemouth. Speaking at yesterday’s pre-match press conference, Sean Dyche confirmed.

“He’s had a good few days, we’ll wait and see. As long as there’s no reaction he’ll be back in contention. It’s different training with the physios to training with the team.”

Seamus Coleman returned to training yesterday morning after recovering from the knock that forced him off against Man United. Ronald Koeman has confirmed he expects the Irishman to be available for the trip to Vicarage Road. Yannick Bolasie is set to undergo knee surgery after sustaining ligament damage against the Red Devils and is out for the season.

Claudio Ranieri suggested that Kasper Schmeichel “could be ready” to return for Leicester’s clash with Man City. The Foxes remain without Danny Drinkwater, who serves the last of a three-match suspension.

Charlie Austin is ruled out of Southampton’s home match against Middlesbrough. The forward was forced off with a shoulder injury in last night’s Europa League clash against Hapoel Be’er Sheva, with Claude Puel conceding:

“Charlie has a shoulder injury and we will see this. I don’t know how many times he stay out but it’s important for us. I don’t know but he cannot play for the next game of course”.

Puel has since confirmed this in his 11.30 press conference this morning.

Earlier this morning, Tony Pulis conceded that both Gareth McAuley and James Morrison will be assessed ahead of West Brom’s trip to Chelsea on Sunday.

“Morrison and McAuley haven’t trained this week so we’ve got a little bit of concern over the two of them. They’re knocks but they haven’t trained so today will be a big game for them because it’s the three-game week. Whether we play them Sunday and risk them for Wednesday (against Swansea), I’m not sure. It’s something I’ll have to sit down and talk to the doctor about.”

Ryan Shawcross is “unlikely” to be fit in time for Stoke’s trip to Arsenal, though Mark Hughes has confirmed that both Bruno Martins Indi and Marko Arnautovic have been passed fit.

Michail Antonio and Aaron Cresswell are both back in training and have been passed fit for West Ham’s trip to Liverpool.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Well its not at all clear, he got minutes of the bench last time but Moyes will probably be reluctant to change a winning team. So my guess would be that he stays benched.

I'm not 100 % convinced Iheanacho will start, so the -4 may not repay itself.
Also, Holebas could conceivably get a CS against the lacklustre Everton attack.

I might still go for it, but it's not a clearcut case in my opinion.

Smith is a great option this week, but Defoe is even better. May pay off, flip a coin. You would want Defoe long term and don't know how long Austin will be out for. Even if its only a week he will miss at least 2 games.

      1. fedolefan
        • 9 Years

Yeah, true. With the former, I'm going to be resigned to 4-4-2 i think for a couple of weeks. May just get in Defoe and be done with it. Well, him or Benteke anyway.

Taken a -20 this week! I will be happy with anything remotely resembling a break even scenario! I have only spent 24 points this season though. Hits seem to be paying off for all of my rivals and I was going to be priced out.

What value do you put on team value? It was mentioned in the Scoutcast, and much of my decision to make that move was based on prices. My team value has raised over 1m this week, and I think the hits will more than pay over the next 3 or 4 games. Should extra transfers cost more? I think 6 points would be more appropriate personally.

This was my reasoning. I felt I needed Costa, Kane, and Sanchez, and if I didn't move I couldn't have them. Kane is a form player and is scoring every match atm, Costa has just been consistently good, and Sanchez hurt me bad last week. It was too risky not to imo. I have lost Coleman, Lukaku, Aguero, Foster, Walcott, Gundogan, so not much chance of those players hurting me. Only one who I know will troll me as usual is Lukaku.

Same here mate! The -16 was drunk last sat feeling the pain as a non sanchez owner. The additional -4 was to ditch Austin. Not much could do about that. Don't expect to make the points up this week, but hopefully set me up nicely for xmas period.

      1. Dr Robotnik
        • 7 Years
        7 years, 5 months ago

I would normally feel guilty about such a move, but I really don't. It was basically a wildcard, and surely they're worth 20 points? Also, I took the risk with CL games midweek, and got away with it. So feeling pretty good about it. Nobody has answered my question about hits being too cheep.

    4. Dr Dream
      • 11 Years
      7 years, 5 months ago

The thing to watch with hits is that if you do too many transfers you just end up buying back the same players at inflated prices.

I take more hits than most but my squad never looks any better than anybody else's..well maybe slightly by seasons end, but no more than slightly.

        • 7 Years

Oh aye. Definitely the right week.

I wouldn't bat an eyelid at -20. I'm 50 pts ahead in my ML which is starting to give me some great scope for a bit of a tinker. I've done it many times.

Took a -4 yesterday, but annoyingly have Austin...

    Pickford
    Holebas, Lovren, McAuley
    Sanchez, Hazard, Firmino, Sigurdsson, Capoue
    Kane, Iheanacho

    (Heaton, Stones, Amat, Austin*)

    A - play this squad
B - Austin out (7.7 striker or less) for -4 more
C - Austin out (Defoe) plus defender transfer for -8 more

A seems most sensible, B would've worked best if Defoe hadn't gone up 0.1 overnight and C is risky but helps enable future planning.

    Thoughts?

I wouldn't be captaining Nacho. Think Leicester may have a reaction this weekend and front up - game could be trickier than people think.

Same...hoping for 1 point from him, anything else would be excellent.

Own both and I am playing Brunt. He is in form and scored well last time out, could conceivably get an offensive return this match as well.

    What's the wisest option?

A: Don't transfer Austin, play Coleman (wat)
    B. Austin > Icheanacho (-4)
    C. Austin > Defoe (-4)

    Ta!

    A. Austin > Iheanacho
    B. Austin, Fletcher > Anichebe, Eriksen -4 (play 352)
I currently have no Spurs coverage. Option A will make if difficult to get a spurs attacker in future gwks.

I'm looking at Carroll but not buying until next GW if I do get him. WHU have nice fixtures, just a case of how many mins he'll get.

Jordan Rhodes couldn’t train today, Gaston Ramirez and Negredo couldn’t train. They’re doubts.
