Dugout Discussion

Dugout Discussion – West Ham vs Man United

A hectic afternoon with points aplenty will hopefully continue with the tea-time kick-off at the London Stadium.

With Sergio Aguero emerging from the bench to return a goal and potential bonus points at the Etihad, our attention now switches to the red side of Manchester and their own talismanic goalscorer – Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Heavily backed by FPL managers once again, the Swede takes on the Hammers with 24.1% of the Gameweek 20 armbands strapped to his bicep.

Elsewhere, Jose Mourinho recalls Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo at centre-back as two of five changes to his line-up; Henrikh Mkhitaryan earns his second successive start.

For West Ham, Andy Carroll drops to the bench having started the last four Gameweeks. Mark Noble and Andre Ayew also drop out as Pedro Obiang, Manuel Lanzini and Sofiane Feghouli earn starts.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Nine of these have good fixtures next gameweek, and wouldn't go with a palace defender. Maybe Ake, or brunt if you don't mind expecting no returns next week.

    Repost

What should I do about this team???
    WC this lot????

    Heaton Pickford
    Alonso Jones Barragan Nyom Smith
    Sanchez Hazard Lallana Siggy Allen
    Ibra Costa Anichebe
    0.4itb and 1ft

Really thinking about WC, especially looking at the post a couple of pages back and my defense is awful, or taking a minimum -4 or -8, want to get rid of Pickford, Barragan, smith, nyom(going AFCON), Siggy, Anichebe, maybe hazard or Allen.

    Suggestions????

I would wildcard or do -8 to repair the team and save the wildcard. Depends if ur in a position to take the risk playing wildcard now. if not save it for the double.

I can take the risk and also look at post two pages ago on WC in DGW.

It is if you think about it:Pickford injured so have to always play Heaton, my whole defence is basically a rotation risk with Nyom going to AFCON and Alonso injured, still hanging onto Siggy and haven't got Phillips and Alli, and Anichebe is injured.

Good evening, I have Eriksen in my team, and I can't seem to make up my mind about whether or not I should transfer him out for Alli. Any input here? Am I reading the stats right when they say that Eriksen is seeing a lot more of the ball, but Alli is more clinical with it (and therefore gets more points)?

Don't like that you don't have one of Costa,Kane, Lukaku, Benteke, defoe. If I had to choose one, then A with Costa instead of ibra, since you don't have hazard, and Defoe instead of Rondon, and Gibson/chambers instead of Williams.

downgrade your defence in both A and B and upgrade elsewhere, no need for 5 more than capable defenders.

    are premier league refs recists?

Today Feghouli's card got me thinking, are English referees racially bias?

Black or minority ethnic (BME) players got about 70% of red cards this season. Did you see any data how many BME players are in PL? I found a source that states there are roughly 30% of black players in PL. It would suggest that black player is disproportionally more likely to see red than his white (esp English) colleague.

I would like to know if there is anything to it.

Just also looked at any teams with a string of good fixtures (pre any DGW-insertions) to assess whether I'd be comfortable doubling/tripling up on their assets between gameweeks 34 -> 37...

    Bournemouth: MID, SUN, STO, BUR
-> Would be comfortable taking 2 defenders, but wouldn't be comfortable with 3

    Burnley: MUN, CPL, WBA, BOU
-> Wouldn't be comfortable with doubling on defenders or buying an attacker, personally. A step too far to think someone like Andre Gray will outscore someone like Costa, even if Gray had 2 gameweeks, IMO. Also have to then transfer him out unless you're willing to go without a good striker for a few weeks, just in the interests of a DGW.

    Hull: WAT, SOU, SUN, CRY
-> Wouldn't be comfortable with more than 1 defender, and quite frankly, I'd only touch Snodgrass elsewhere. Not even sure the defender is worth it as would have to transfer out again. Likely to be in relegation scrap mode possibility with Sunderland and Palace too (maybe even Watford).

    Stoke: SWA, WHM, BOU, ARS
-> Could double in defence, but not fond of any attacking assets.

    Sunderland: ARS, BOU, HUL, SWA
-> Wouldn't be keen on doubling in defence, or attack as generally not any good options.

West Brom: MCI, LEI, BUR, CHE (SWA in GW38 for special mention)
-> Could double in defence or attack if there is a good fixture inserted in between LEI and BUR, but given how they've played this year, not exactly crying out to do either.

Still not seeing the appeal of the DGW this time around. Only City, Liverpool and Chelsea have the really plum fixtures as noted in my last post. But City has the Pep factor, and Liverpool and Chelsea are likely to be well-owned anyway so hardly requires a wildcard. Add in the risk of rotation in these weeks anyway...
