The FFS Cup – Sponsored by FanDuel – The Winner

After ten weeks of tough competition, the time has come to reveal the winner of our latest Fantasy Football Scout FPL Cup.

There was more than £1,000 worth of prizes available across this competition for UK based entrants, courtesy of our partner FanDuel, as well a £350 in Amazon vouchers to the top three managers.

Played out in the lowest-scoring Gameweek of the season so far, a nail-biting final saw A Manager Has No Name edge out Moin 36-35 to win the top prize of a £200 Amazon voucher and a £100 FanDuel Credit.

He now joins donnellyc, Jonty, Gribude, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleeping master, Mch, Wild Rover, Tdubb05 , CMIFLFC, Mark and last year’s champion Leon Harris in our Cup hall of fame.

A Manager Has No Name’s lead would have been even greater if had he not swapped Stoke City defender Erik Pieters – who earned four points in the Potter’s 1-1 draw with Everton – for Manchester United’s Phil Jones, who limped off before the hour-mark to deliver a single point.

In the end, the captaincy proved decisive with the 6,478 placed Moin opting for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who failed to score, while our winner placed the armband on Alexis Sanchez, who managed to squeak an assist in Arsenal’s defeat to Watford.

Alvaro Negredo’s penalty also helped take 21,761 ranked A Manager Has No Name over the finishing line, although this was cancelled out by injuries in defence, to Jones and Spurs’ Danny Rose, and by Moin earning an assist from his key differential, Eden Hazard.

Despite missing out on the top prize, Moin still claims a £100 Amazon voucher and £50 FanDuel credit.

The third place play-off was another close contest, with 9,047 ranked Back on the Horse beating 43,547 placed Hazardous Blue 35 to 31.

Hazardous Blue’s transfer of Daley Blind to Antonio Valencia cost him two points, after the Dutchman earned a pair of FPL bonus points in Manchester United’s 0-0 draw with Hull City in Gameweek 23.

But it was in goal where this clash was won, with Hazardous Blue benching of Hull’s Eldin Jakupovic, who earned 11 points, in favour of Arsenal stopper Petr Cech, who conceded twice against Watford, proving costly.

Meanwhile, Back on the Horse’s picked Burnley custodian Tom Heaton, who returned nine points. This was enough to see him pick up the third place prize of a £50 voucher and £30 FanDuel Credit. Hazardous Blue, meanwhile, takes home a £20 FanDuel credit.

Congratulations to our prize winners and thanks to all those who took part in another successful Cup competition.

We will bring you details of our future tournaments very soon.

Sanchez. But I can see the arguments for keeping Zlatan.

Main central striker. Always plays (but so does Sanchez). On pens. And conquered English football in 3 months.

However with Donkey injured Sanchez may play more centrally. And of the heavyweight midfielders there are doubts over Hazard, KDB (although he's improving). Sanchez still a season keeper for me.

Only other angle is that Amat, Friend are injured/dropped so you're relying on your other three defenders.

No. I think three decent defenders is not a bad plan. Alonso-Baines-Walker - you would play them every week. Could look at downgrading Pieters to Yoshida/Stephens/Holgate if you needed extra funds.

5 players playing in the 3 game GW (as it stands) is OK right?

It's only 3 games and not many good teams/players. I don't think it's smart to break your team to fit in bad players

    1. diesel001
      • 7 Years
      7 years, 4 months ago

No - you need 8+ IMO which is achievable with good players from Everton, Jaku as GK and playing bench fodder like Carroll.

      1. PvA
        • 7 Years
        7 years, 4 months ago

        That's ridiculous

After that 1 GW you will have a total of 8 players from 6 teams:

        Bournemouth
        West Ham United
        Everton
        West Bromwich Albion
        Hull City
        Swansea City

It's ridiculous. Your team would be a laughing stock

    2. Somalion
      • 14 Years
      7 years, 4 months ago

      It's not too bad.

I think you could have maybe 6 or 7 involved (I've 4 at the moment, actually 5 but 2 GKs so will only have 4 playing) and will probably aim for 6. Bring in Carroll for Defoe and maybe an Everton defender or something like that.

It's not worth breaking your team for GW24. But you might take a view on Man U, Man C, Arsenal progressing to quarter finals of FA Cup, because that would be 2 blanks in 3.

Can Sane play left or right ?....or indeed can Jesus ?

    1. TOBY1
      • 7 Years
      7 years, 4 months ago

Sane can float to either side.
Pep has been breaking him in slowly but I think he now trusts him.

As a city fan I hope he sticks with the last team sheet more or less but I somehow think Sane might not start.

When City gameweeks are clear and Sane is a regular starter I will have him and Jesus in for sure. He looks very sharp.

      1. TOBY1
        • 7 Years

*He seems to play more on the left though - better on the left from what i've seen.

        • 11 Years

I agree. I thought Sane looked every bit as good as Jesus. I'd be very keen to keep Jesus and Sane playing together as much as possible in Pep's shoes....

        1. TOBY1
          • 7 Years
          7 years, 4 months ago

I also think that Pep will want to start getting some chemistry going before it's Champions league time.

I don't think the fixtures have been too demanding for Sane and Jesus recently and there is 8 days till the next game. Then after that it's Huddersfield where probably Ihenacho or Nolito will get a run out and then it's Champions league. Then big break till next game.

Lots of recovery time at moment.

Me too. One of the best youngsters around. Pretty good output for a young player.

He mostly played from the right during his time at the Veltins, I believe, & with City's 4-3-3/4-1-4-1 formation, it's probably likely that he'll only play on the wings for Pep.

He got subbed at half time last game and I think Everton then went to a back four. If Koeman thinks 3-4-3 is more attacking then you would hope that against Bournemouth Colgate would start.

Just after a bit of advice. Here's my team with 1ft & 1.5itb

    Foster (Valdes)
    Alonso, Coleman, Pieters (Rose, Jones)
    Sanchez, Alli, Lallana, Phillips (Stanislas)
    Ibra, Lukaku (c), Defoe

Can I get away with playing the above defense or should I
    (a) Rose out - Walker in or
    (b) Rose out - Brunt in (better for blanks) or
    (c) Play the above defense
If (c) is the option you prefer which option do you like out of these:
    (d) Ibra out - Kane in or
    (e) save ft

    Thoughts & thanks.

Rose is out for a few weeks I think? I'd move him to walker or of you Set on keeping rose, then maybe pieters to Patrick van aanholt?

B seems smart with an eye to gameweek 28. Would then play him over Pieters this week.

This could end very very badly
Stay off here if Jesus is benched

    Hi all. My team is...
    Foster
    Alonso - baines - McAuley
    Pogba - Sanchez - Phillips - Cabaye
    Ibra - lukaku(vc) - Kane (c)

Pickford - De roon - pieters - browning

Please vote it's doing my head in Do I ...
    A. Pieters -> PVA then bench Cabaye
    B. Cabaye - > zaha

I would then save a ft next week and have 2 ft for the first blank week.

    Thanks

If nothing more pressing, does a 1-2 week punt on KDB (and captain?) seem like a good idea?

    Hazard to KDB

    giving me

    Foster (Pick)
    Brunt - Alonso - Baines
    KDB - Sanchez - Eriksen - Snodgrass
    Caroll - Ibra - Kane

    De Roon, Pieters, 3.9

    0.7 ITB; 2 FT
