Tuesday Player Picks

Fixtures
Arsenal v Bayern
Napoli v Real Madrid

Manuel Neuer – Bayern – $5,000 – G
The Bayern keeper may be pricey pick but it’s fair to say that Arsenal will need to carry the match to their visitors following a chastening 5-1 first-leg loss at the Allianz Arena.

Such a scenario should, at least, produce save points for Neuer, who has a healthy 11.4 Fantasy Points Per Game (FPPG) over nine DraftKings outings. The weekend shutout against Koln in the Bundesliga makes it 17 clean sheets in 34 appearances this campaign.

Marcelo – Real Madrid – $4,900 – D
Over his last trio of La Liga appearances, the raiding right-back has delivered 29 crosses (worth 0.75 points each in DraftKings), a pair of assists and five attempts on goal, earning 15.3 FPPG.

Madrid have kept just a single clean sheet in the five league matches since facing Napoli, hinting that attacking returns need to be targeted if opting for a Real Madrid defender. Marcelo was rested for the 4-1 win at Eibar over the weekend so should be refreshed for the trip to the San Paolo.

Thiago Alcantara – Bayern – $5,600 – M
The Spaniard was the standout performer from Bayern’s first-leg rout, delivering two goals and an assist on his way to a 36-point haul.

This time around, it’s Thiago’s defensive contribution that has caught our eye – with Arsenal desperate to attack, we reckon his ball-winning abilities in the centre of the park will be key to launching Bayern’s quick counters. A total of 50 tackles (+ 1 point) and 81 interceptions (+0.5 points) is more than any team-mate in the Bundesliga this season.

DK1

Dries Mertens – Napoli – $7,500 – M/F
The Belgian fired both goals in a 2-1 victory over Roma at the weekend, underlining his importance to Napoli’s cause.

Mertens has produced 18 goals and seven assists across 24 Serie A appearances in a hugely impressive season and has also served up four goals and as many assists over the Champions League group stages.

If the Serie A side are to overturn a 3-1 deficit in front of their own supporters, Mertens’ contribution looks vital against a Madrid defence that’s shipped six goals in their last three matches.

Alexis Sanchez – Arsenal – $7,900 – M/F
Benched for the weekend loss at Liverpool, the Chilean will surely return to Arsene Wenger’s teamsheet as the Gunners attempt to claw back that four-goal deficit at home to Bayern.

Sanchez’ average of 15.5 FPPG is far and away the best on offer for the north London side – a total of 22 goal and 14 assists across all competitions indicates that, if Arsenal are to make any leeway tomorrow night, we can rely on Alexis.

Wednesday Player Picks

Fixtures
Dortmund v Benfica
Barcelona v Paris

Ederson Moraes – Benfica – $3,800 – G
We tipped the Brazilian in the opening encounter with Dortmund and he duly delivered – preserving a clean sheet to secure a 1-0 win and score 24 points (keepers in DraftKings benefit from a +5 point win bonus).

Benfica will be under pressure from kick-off in Germany and if Moraes repeats those first-leg endeavours (his five saves kept them in the tie), a budget price tag should represent value even in defeat.

Lukasz Piszczek – Dortmund – $4,400 – D
A goal and pair of assists in the recent 3-0 win over Wolfsburg is indicative of the left-back’s value for money.

Another assist in the following home match – a 6-2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday – has further boosted Piszczek’s prospects ahead a home encounter with Benfica. Dortmund should be dominant against their Portuguese opponents, which should allow the Polish international leeway to raid forward.

If you can afford the extra outlay, his team-mate Raphael Guerreiro ($5,200) is worth considering, with an 11.8 FPPG over seven European matches. Playing out of position in midfield, he’s scored twice and provided a fifth assist of the season over his last three Bundesliga outings.

Ivan Rakitic – Barcelona – $5,700 – M
Barcelona have it all to do after suffering a 4-0 defeat in the first leg, with their front trio all likely to see heavy investment.

Rakitic, however, offers a budget route into an attack that will be going all out to claw back some respect at the very least. Although he’s yet to score in Europe this term, three goals in his last four La Liga starts suggests that the Croatian should comfortably better his 7.7 FPPG on Wednesday evening.

DK2

Ousmane Dembele – Dortmund – $7,700 – M/F
The Frenchman has provided attacking returns in four of his last five home league matches, which includes a goal and assist combination against both Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen in Dortmund’s last two at the Signal Iduna Park.

A 12.1 FPPG in the Champions League, comprising of a goal and five assists over the group stages, showcases his potential. Saturday’s 6-2 victory over fellow Champions League competitors Leverkusen boosts Dortmund’s momentum as they look to overcome that one-goal reverse against Benfica.

Edison Cavani– Paris Saint Germain – $6,700 – F
Rather than put their fate in Barca’s hands, Umai Emery will be eager for his side to notch an away goal and put the tie beyond doubt.

Having already scored in the first-leg rout, Cavani’s record this season suggests that he could offer excellent value for money at the Nou Camp.

A weekend penalty against Nancy took his tally to 27 goals in 26 Ligue 1 appearances, while that consistency is echoed in the Champions League, with seven goals in as many matches.

    Heaton (Pickford)
    Coleman Brunt Smith (Alonso Pieters)
    Sigurdsson Phillips (Eriksen Sterling Sane)
    Lukaku Llorente (Aguero)

    0 FT 3.1 ITB

Thoughts appreciated on my Kane + Sanchez return plans, thinking :

    A : Spurs double up Eriksen/Kane
    (28) Sterling > Coutinho (-4)
    (29) Aguero Sané > Kane Sanchez (-4)
(exact funds so may have to move on Kane this week if Sanchez doesn't drop..)

B - hold onto Sane or Sterling :
    (28) Eriksen > Coutinho (-4)
    (29) Aguero Sterling > Kane Sanchez (-4)
    Leaves 0.9 ITB

C - hold onto Sane or Sterling :
    (28) Eriksen > Mane (-4)
    (29) Aguero Sterling Phillips > Kane Sanchez 5.1 (-8)
Maybe just do Phillips > Carroll this week..

I'd wait until after the international break to get Sanchez, they often throw up issues with him, and it's not like he doesn't already have issues with Wenger, and possibly leaving this summer.

I think the correct answer is :
I'm panic stricken... hunted down in my ML over last 2-3 weeks with rivals captaining Kan3 + Luka4u when I owned neither to close a sizable gap...
looking to get a step ahead again, but so many tempting options, and GW28 throwing a massive spanner in, not to mention a knee-jerk in 27 for triple city which is currently bombing (Costa Haz Alli out...), but could still work out ok...
oh, and I'm sadly not in the comfy position of 11 starters for a (-4) next week... just the 6 (inc. Phillips), now up to 8 (-4), but very concerned about no Liverpool cover...
        I could go on 🙂
I will go with my gut in the end, but feedback from a variety of this knowledgable crowd is always much appreciated.

A serious answer from me is:

Go with your gut. It's your team and it will make you more comfortable doing the transfers you think are best.

If they don't work out, then it's hard luck. But if the players you wanted do well and you didn't listen to yourself you will kick yourself and it will make it seem far worse. The best advice is your own advise. Play the game your way and have less regrets.

    Triple Captain Updates...

Mine's in tatters, after Hazard decided this would be the week he'd score away and Kane kept on doing what he does. 22 points if I'd sat on my hands and captained Ibra as I had planned, currently on 26 with Aguero(TC) and Sterling to go. Big pressure now on Wednesday night!

How's your triple captain strategy's shaped up so far? 🙂

Sold Hazard, Costa and Phillips for an 8 pts hit. Total loss: 27 pts.

Brought in Kun (TC), Sané and Sterling. Total gain: 37 pts.

10 pts up with the latter all still to play.

Yes, I did the same thing in keeping Eriksen over Alli. Now with Ben Davies filling in for Danny Rose, Alli seems to be the one to go with, if you had to choose.

I actually viewed bringing City in and TC as two separate things. They weren't mutually exclusive.

Anyway did Lukaku 》Aguero for free. Then mulled over Sterling 》Alli -4 and retained Eriksen. The rest is...

The thing is because I have Walker I had to remove one of the Spurs mids to clear a path for Kane. So hopefully that part won't let me down.

      Costa (9), Alli (12), Siggy (5) + Ibra C = 24
      Aguero TC (21), Sane (10), Sterling (6) -8 = 29

Not great so far but City to play again.

      Mane to Coutinho
      Lukaku to Aguerro
      Phillips to Carroll (benched)

Kept Alli and Kane but also Ibra. Seemed like to right choice oat the time. Think I'm -3 worse of with Kun TC so a cameo appearance and no goal tonight will break me even (worst case), a goal will mean I'm up four. But resulted in an additional 2 transfers to get Kaku and Mane back for 28 and 0.3 in value.

Had I done Ibra Phillips to Carroll Kun, I'd be 28pts better off and still have Kaku and Mane

      Pre City- bonanza: Baines (1), Alli (12), Lukaku (6), Kane/Mane C (+13), 1 FT (4)= 36 points

      City- bonanza: Stones (6), Sterling (6), Aguero (14, if not TC), 2 hits (-8) = 18 points

Needs 18 points against Stoke to be satisfied. Something like Stones(2), Sterling(2), Aguero 1 goal and 1 bonus (7x2=14)=18

Will then have 92+2+2+21(TC Aguero) = 117 points(-8) this GW.

      Decent. 78 (-4)

Lukaku to Aguero and Eriksen to Sané so

12 lost including the hit, 31 gained so far with the two City boys still to go. Hope to break the 100 barrier.

      Lukaku (6) < Kun (7)
      Alli (8) > Sterling (6, -4)
      Defo (2) < Llorente (13, -4)

total up 2 points. plus TC chip gone, and 3 players to play still that would be a profit

Costa (9) and Alli (11) out
Aguero (21) and Sterling (6) in

7 points up - 4 point hit = 3 point gain with a game to play. But TC chip also used.

Seems a bit meh. But I'd do the same in a heartbeat; got to roll the dice in this game.

      Lanzini.

Now Carrol is fit and Antonio returns who plays out of the front four from:

      Carrol
      Lanzini
      Ayew
      Antonio
      Snodgrass
      Feghouli

Carrol looks a cert with Lanzini in droppable form. Ayew doing well and gaining fitness.

Still not "proper" fix at RB so is there a chance Antonio goes back there?

So is Pedro decent cover for Chelsea going forward? Sanchez and Hazard is kind of unattainable.

Is Alonso still 'essential' or is Walker a better pick if you can't have both?

    What's the story with Walcott?

I think pedro is very good cover at the min, much more direct that hazard and a great value pick, I will be looking to bring him in on the wildcard I think.

      same thinking

Pedro has been value for money and Blues cover since i got him in GW21. = 6.4 points on average

frustrated with owning Alonso. afraid to miss his Attacking return. then again, can keep CS

gw28 - everyone will be in a same boat. marginal diference will be subdued by hits in and out.

The problem was that Caroll wasn't getting those midfield long balls to inside the box which he thrives upon. That is largely because Snoddy was at LW and not at CM. Lanzini was at CM. Feghouli plays with Snoddy or just a little deeper so that he can protect the back 4 and I believe that is what led to the first goal. Feghouli was caught on the RW and the counter costed them dearly.
