The ScoutCast – Episode 219 – Evicted

Expelled and evicted from the Scout Hut, the show must go on as I host this week’s Cast from the in-laws, their best china providing the backdrop to our Fantasy Football chatterings.

While building work gets underway back home, we consider the reconstruction required on our line-ups ahead of Gameweek 30 following the cruel injury to Seamus Coleman.

Assessment of the likely replacements dominates the opening section, before we embark on another round of community questions, as we scan Manchester United’s packed schedule, flirt with Leicester City assets and vote on when to move for Alexis Sanchez.

Transfer hits also bookend this episode, as we begin the show with a conservative approach to the weekend, only to end with talk of eight points aplenty.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link or the first player below, or take in the full visual experience, plates and all, via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Spurs attack, 4 defs over 5m. Need a plan for Valencia/Ibra.

      brunt -> cedric/'boro def
      cout -> alli/eriksen
maybe gray -> vardy as well.

will need money to get sanchez and ibra soon though

Thx guys. Coutinho to Alli, Gray to Vardy and I was thinking Brunt to Valencia this week(-4) and then next GW Baines to Cedric or Boro def per se?

That's true but not sure if I can afford one more game without Alli or Eriksen, they are killing me this season. Got Mane as Pool coverage gotta hope that's enough, not sure tho

why is everybody saying bertrand as the southampton defender to get?
cedric is cheaper and look at the difference in stats 😉

Because he has 4 assists in the last 5 games. Memories of Cedric too 😆

is that points chasing though? bit of luck in chance creation resulting in assists but with cedric creating more chances should mean more likelihood of points.

I just can't bring myself to invest in a defence missing their best player VVD... I think with either Cedric or Bertrand you're relying on attacking points to break even, never a good thing for a defender. Having said that Bertrand will probably score 2 or 3 & get 2 or 3 assists now in the last 9 games, but u get my point.

Whereas Spurs, Utd, Chelsea defences on the other hand are just mean at the back & Valencia, Alonso, Alderweireld (or Rose or Walker) all are as good if not better at generating attacking returns than Bertrand or Cedric.

So it's Utd/Spurs/Chlsea defenders before Southampton for me... Regardless of doubles.

i agree, i already have walker and azpi, didnt want to spend on valencia as that money can now be used to get sanchez and ibra/kane soon.

i purely meant in all the talk about coleman replacements, bertrand has come up a lot and not cedric.

      3) kane could be back in 2-3 weeks but is realistically unknown, sounds more positive than first thought.

1 Gtg - Swans better do well. I am hoping the same
      2 save
3 I might go Kane and Kaku even for 34. Depends when Kane is back.

With Gabbiadini injured for the next couple, a Saints mid looks like a good option. Are JWP and Redmond viable options instead of Tadic? Boufal may affect their minutes but I think both could be good options.

There's something of a buyer beware about all SOT assets especially around DGW's but s/t those 2 look nailed, I think.

Which GW are we aiming for Ibra and/or Sanchez? I'll be happy with one as it stands:/ When should we start taking hits to prepare funds for them, sorry for noobish questions, I wasn't online for two weeks

I don't think Ibra is a must apart from covering 34 atm. He doesn't look as good as some of the others and misses too many, poor conversion.

They've got great conversion rates. Ibrahimovic may be poor in comparison to those two, but his rate is actually pretty standard overall.

Yeah last time I looked they were on about 25 v his 15. He just misses too many, we saw v BOU, seen it in other games too. Not saying he's rubbish just that he's not quite there v the best.

Ibra has missed more big chances this season than any other player. 19 I believe. Next most wasteful is on 11 I think

When do we lose Kaku? If holding through pool and utd then 32 through 38 are nice except for 35 and 38. No double is the problem.

      Opinion's divided. If you read what Poch has said and estimate when Harry returns (33 or 34), ie Rose is behind... I reckon there's been a setback. The best run of games are;

      Burnley (A)
      Swansea (A)
      Watford (H)
      Bournemouth (H)
      Palace (A)

      That's including 34. I'm up for it, reckon he'll get all 5 and I'll take that 😆

I got Vertonghen before the Rose news. Looking at it now I think Davies is the better pick. Even if Vert outscores him it won't be by much and that extra 0.8 should come in handy.

Budget route into Spurs defence and showing good attacking stats. Good price point to switch for a Boro DGW in 34 if needed too. Most importantly for me, frees funds to switch Siggy to Alli next week and down the line upgrade Costa to IbrA

Well a cheap attacking Spurs defender can't be bad, as an alternative to Walker that frees up money for attacking transfers

          • 9 Years

But if you don't have a WC, you could be looking at a valuable FT to replace him a few gameweeks from now.

  15. athreya
    • 12 Years
    7 years, 2 months ago

I am confused about the optimum strategy for 34. As of now I am thinking of just going with Ibra, Boro defender, Zaha for the DGW. In that case I can bring them in over 33 and 34 and look at some punts for the next 3 GWs.

If I decide to have more DGW players I have to start bringing them in sooner.

How many DGWers you are aiming for? And are you covering all the 3 teams?

    1. Diva
      • 9 Years
      7 years, 2 months ago

Do you have a wildcard you plan to wield after DGW34?

Then, yeah, you can take a few chances if you can also fit your DGW34 options in with the FT you have left.

One last question before I retire for the night: for my team with .4 itb that is all set for week 30:
    Jaku
    Valencia Alonso Vertonghen
    Mane Siggy Eriksen King
    Kun Costa Kaku
    Heaton TCarroll Daniels Mcauley

Is it not the best move in week 31 to go
Kun to Barnes and then TCarroll to Sanchez for a hit and play 3-5-2?

I can see any smarter move!

I love Barnes as a bench fodder. So many options in midfield compared to attack. Barnes plays Bournemouth in GW37 which is perfect for BB

Can't make my mind up on this one.

Bench Andy Carroll or Harry Maguire this week?

They are in direct competition so unlikely to both score well. Andy looked very dangerous last match and Hull are not exactly a clean sheet machine, but they have been solid at home since Silva took over and Maguire is due a large haul sooner or later with his attacking threat.

    Please help:
    A) play Big Andy
    B) play Big Harry
    C) play neither big man and play Leroy Sane instead!
    D) play both big men and bench Josh King and Sane

Just sit Big Harry on the bench. Incredibly hard to pick between Andy, Sane and King. No right answer.

      Similar dilemma.
50/50 call. Enough good reason for either to do well so go with your gut.

I actually think Carroll is more likely to score but for me King has legendary status for his captaincy heroics in gw28 and is thus undroppable!
