Dugout Discussion

Dugout Discussion – Arsenal vs Man City

After Gylfi Sigurdsson disappointed during Swansea’s goalless draw with Middlesbrough at the Liberty, Gameweek 30 comes to its conclusion with the small matter of a 4pm showdown between Arsenal and Man City at the Emirates Stadium.

Two of the top five captained players in this round of fixtures go head-to-head now, with Sergio Aguero and Alexis Sanchez handed the armband by 8.8% and 5.7% of Fantasy Premier League managers respectively.

Sanchez, certainly, is the most reliable of the pair, serving up a goal or assist in 13 of his last 15 league outings to clinch a place at the top of the FPL leaderboard.

Aguero has upped his output in recent weeks, though, with two goals and an assist in his previous four appearances.

Up against a defence that’s been breached three times in three of their last four league fixtures, the Argentine goes in search of a fifth double-figure away haul.

With Arsenal playing ten times in the remaining eight Gameweeks and City boasting nine fixtures over that stretch, the likes of Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane, Mesut Ozil and Danny Welbeck also have a chance to impress, with the latter handed a third straight start by Arsene Wenger.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Who are the must haves now?

    Current lineup for GW31 is

    Heaton

    Robertson Davies Cedric

    Alli Mane(!) Lanzini Siggy

    Costa Vardy Lukaku

    Considering

    A) Mane+Kaku/Costa> Coutinho+Ibra
    B) Mane+K/C -> Sanchez+Original
    C) Mane->Sanchez
    D) Mane+Lanzini -> Sanchez+Zaha
    E) Mane+Lanzini -> Cout+Eriksen

    Am I missing anything?

    Totally baffled for this week

Guardiola: "I want to congratulate Jesus Navas who was excellent against one of the best players in the world in Alexis Sanchez," Guardiola said of the winger’s display. I played him because Bacary Sagna was injured and Pablo Zabaleta were not ready and Jesus always deserves the best because he is an excellent guy and I was so happy with him."

The Bonus Points System (BPS) utilises a range of statistics to create a BPS score for every player. The three best performing players in each match will be awarded bonus points. 3 points will be awarded to the highest scoring player, 2 to the second best and 1 to the third.

Examples of how bonus point ties will be resolved are as follows:

If there is a tie for first place, Players 1 & 2 will receive 3 points each and Player 3 will receive 1 point.
If there is a tie for second place, Player 1 will receive 3 points and Players 2 and 3 will receive 2 points each.
If there is a tie for third place, Player 1 will receive 3 points, Player 2 will receive 2 points and Players 3 & 4 will receive 1 point each.
How is the BPS score calculated?

Players score BPS points based on the following statistics (one point for each unless otherwise stated):

      Action BPS
      Playing 1 to 60 minutes 3
      Playing over 60 minutes 6
Goalkeepers and defenders scoring a goal 12
      Midifielders scoring a goal 18
      Forwards scoring a goal 24
      Assists 9
Goalkeepers and defenders keeping a clean sheet 12
      Saving a penalty 15
      Save 2
      Successful open play cross 1
Creating a big chance (a chance where the receiving player should score) 3
For every 2 clearances, blocks and interceptions (total) 1
      For every 3 recoveries 1
      Key pass 1
      Successful tackle (net*) 2
      Successful dribble 1
Scoring the goal that wins a match 3
70 to 79% pass completion (at least 30 passes attempted) 2
80 to 89% pass completion (at least 30 passes attempted) 4
90%+ pass completion (at least 30 passes attempted) 6
      Conceding a penalty -3
      Missing a penalty -6
      Yellow card -3
      Red card -9
      Own goal -6
      Missing a big chance -3
Making an error which leads to a goal -3
Making an error which leads to an attempt at goal -1
      Being tackled -1
      Conceding a foul -1
      Being caught offside -1
      Shot off target -1
*Net successful tackles is the total of all successful tackles minus any unsuccessful tackles. Players will not be awarded negative BPS points for this statistic.

Data is supplied by Opta and once it has been marked as final will not be changed. We will not enter into discussion around any of the statistics used to calculate this score for any individual match.

    Current team is:
    Jakupovic, Heaton
Alonso, Valencia, Maguire, Brunt, Maquire, Kingsley
    Sanchez*, Coutinho, Alli, Sigurdsson, Fraser
    Costa, Lukaku, Llorente
    * transferred in this week in place of Mane
    1.0 itb

    Wildcard team is currently:
    Jakupovic, Heaton
    Walker, Valencia, Stones, Roberton, Yoshida
    Sanchez, Coutinho, Alli, Sane, Carroll
    Ibra, Aguero, Barnes
    0 itb

Should I continue to tweak my current team, although I worry I can't transition to the teams with favorable fixtures quickly enough.
If I wildcard should I go with Siggy, Sane or Walcott?
Am I picking players who's time has passed, and should be looking for others, and if so, who?

When to use the wildcard is a brain-buster, and no mistake!

I see no reason to WC. If Mane is out for a few weeks, consider Llorente to Origi. Otherwise G2G. Exveryone has the same poor fixtures this week. WC could get around that, but yours doesn't, so don't bother

Period

    a) Mane + Alonso > Sanchez + Gibson (-4)
    or
    b) Mane + Siggy > Sanchez + Zaha (-4)

All because I don't want to get rid of Aguero, and trying to think of alternatives to fund Sanchez.

    Heaton (Jaku)

    Costa/Lukaku(Llorente)
