Dugout Discussion – Middlesbrough vs Arsenal

After Diego Costa and Zlatan Ibrahimovic managed a single point between them at Old Trafford yesterday, all eyes are on Alexis Sanchez as Arsenal roll up to the Riverside in tonight’s final Gameweek fixture.

Recently shuffled onto the left flank, a run of three matches without a goal has knocked our confidence in the Chilean ahead of the Gunners’ double Gameweeks 36 and 37.

Indeed, only 5.9% have handed Sanchez the armband as he attempts to reclaim his spot as top scoring player in Fantasy Premier League, having been knocked off his perch by Romelu Lukaku at the weekend.

Tonight’s team selection looks to have handed Sanchez a change of role. To everyone’s surprise, Arsene Wenger appears to have set up with a 3-4-2-1 formation or even a 3-4-1-2, with Sanchez perhaps joining Olivier Giroud up front – a concern perhaps for the 91,000+ who sold the Chilean ahead of Gameweek 33.

Tonight’s encounter also gives us the chance to run the rule over the hosts as they prepare for a potentially profitable double Gameweek 34 against Bournemouth and Sunderland.

Both Victor Valdes and Ben Gibson currently sit second for transfers in among keepers and defenders since Saturday’s deadline, though in the four matches under new manager Steve Agnew, Boro have been somewhat hot and cold – keeping two clean sheets and conceding at least three times in the other two.

Valdes misses out this evening with a rib problem sustained at Burnley last time out – an injury kept under wraps until tonight: Brad Guzan claims the keeper’s jersey.

Sitting six points from safety, the Teesside team are in desperate need of wins now. Having failed to score in six of their last eight, though, most will likely steer clear of the hosts’ attack unless they can punish the Gunners this evening.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Well there's no way I'm taking -8 if I don't BB boost so it's relative but I had the proposed -8 team as we speak I'd be benching my lineup would be

            DeGea
            PVA *Gibbo Bailly
            Sanchez Alli Townsend Zaha
            Kaku Kane Tekkers

I've no WC though, it mess up my plans for 37 which I suppose would be different since I wouldn't be BB'ing but my planned 37 team is something like this

            Hennesy
            PVA Clichy Alonso
            Sanchez Hazard Alli Sané King
            Kane Kaku

I think Bravo is getting the chance to prove that he can be the City no.1
Pep really needs to know if he is up to the job because if he isn't, they will need a new keeper for next season. No chance of finding that out by playing Cab

Form has to start somewhere though. Would you be that surprised if he's in the points against Leicester? It's Sanchez. I know things are different now that he's out on the wing and Arsenal aren't exactly firing but I always back world class players to come good. Alexis is world class.

They're both in form, both with a goal and assist apiece vs. Chelsea, so it's not like they're flat-track bullies.

Palace fixtures are THAT bad in terms of attacking points. Liverpool vs. CP regardless of venue has historically had plenty of goals for both sides of late. CP hosting Spurs is a tough one but on current form they could conceivably nick a goal. Plus Spurs have tended to struggle at least a little at Palace

      No.

It just means you can't use your chip in another gameweek. If one of the front 8 doesn't play, the first player on the bench is autosubbed.

Is it madness to consider Lukaku to Benteke now for the DGW34 and get Lukaku back in GW36 WC or not at all?

Not madness, the beauty of the wildcard is you're able to take a punt or two before.

    Thoughts on this:
    Heaton
    alonso, valencia, gibson
    hazard, allí, eriksen, king
    kane, lukaku, carroll
bench: randolph, t carroll, friend, stephens
    4.5mil in the bank.
Should i switch lukaku to ibra?
Thinking of a carroll to negredo/benteke or t carroll to zaha/townsend.
Possibly randolph to valdes if fit.

How about Heaton to Hennessy, Valdes/Guzan and Carroll to Zlatan?

Yeah thought about something like that, but i am 0.4 short unless i get guzan. If Valdes is fit, only way i could afford is probably valencia to bailly. But thats very sideways.

Mmmm, you could maybe just get Benteke or Negredo then. No point ripping ur team apart for Zlatan when it looks so good
Lukaku to Ibra looks good on paper
          bur/city/SWAN
          vs
          westh/CHE

Not sure he plays all three, though might still be worth it for captain security.
Think I would favour this option but I'm glad it's a choice I don't have to make.

            Yeah true.
What about valencia to bailly, carroll to ibra and heaton to valdes for -8? Not sure if worth.

I really don't see a -8 paying off this week. Personally I think this gameweek will be a big letdown so might be best just to do one trade.
              Just my view of course.
              Gl whatever you decide.

I bought Valdes after Boro were drawn against City in the FA Cup, correctly predicting a Boro 34 DGW.
Now he got injured and may not even play in the DGW. Meanwhile, i could have had Grant.
Kids, never do early planning, it always backfires.

He could very well be fine, hopefully he hasnt broken any ribs.
Would expect him to be ok if he hasn't.

    Jaku (Mannone)
Walker - Bailly - Alonso (Robertson, Holgate)
    Alli - King - Sanchez - Zaha - Hazard
    Lukaku - Kane (Barnes)

    1FT, 0.5 ITB

Assuming Alonso is fit, if I transfer Holgate for a Boro defender (probably Friend, given the injury to Fabio), who the heck do I bench to accommodate him?

No idea, and that's why I wouldn't do it.
I think I would wait for info on the Boro keeper situation and switch Mannone to one of them.

Had a mare last 3 GWs, falling from 2k to 6k. Top 1k still achievable with WC and BB to use?

Took my hits for DGW34 already last week so a bit unsure about the last DGW player to bring in with my FT and 2.3 in bank. Focusing on next 2 GWs only as I'll WC GW36:

    Hennessey
    Valencia Alonso Robertson
    Zaha Sanchez Alli Siggy
    Zlatan Benteke Lukaku

    Jaku Baines McAuley Fletcher

    A) Baines > Gibson
    B) Baines > Bailly
    C) Lukaku > Negredo
    D) Siggy > United mid

    Heaton
    Valencia - Davies - Pieters
    Firmino - Eriksen - Siggy - Zaha
    Ibra - Aguero - Lukaku

    Foster; King, Robertson, Brunt
    0.1ITB + 1FT

Thinking Brunt > Gibson. May leave Kane until I wildcard in a couple gameweeks. Start Siggy or King? Hmm...

            Gameweek 36 I meant.

Even if he returns to his previous form, ManU (Mourinho) and So'ton (A) are a grim pair of fixtures for Arsenal

true, but vs Ibra uncertainty of his place and fixtures against Man City/Burnley. I'd think Sanchez still might edge it.

    Not sure what next..
Maybe just plan for the next DGW's ?

5 DGW'rs this GW atm. (Assuming Valdes will be ok).
    No WC or TC!

    AOA
    Valdes,
    Bailly, Gibson.
Alli, Sanchez, Hazard, Zaha, De Roon.
    Kane, Aguero, Origi.

    Pickford, B Davies, Holgate, Yoshida
    2ft, 0.5m.

Either Benteke in for Aguero.. ( would be an extra FT to change back again)
or just Gabby in for Origi and start planning for later DGW's maybe?

    Team for Gw 34
    Valdes/ Guzan
    Valencia, Bailey, Alonso, Gibson, Brunt
    King, Ali, Eriksen, Zaha, Cook
    Lukaku, Ibra, Kane

Will be benching Brunt and Cook.
Can't decide on one more benched player. Alonso out of that lot.
or should I not take Bailey ( currently have Mawson) and play Alonso

You might as well wildcard if you do a -16, and then strategize with FTs for the next doubles.
