Ibrahimovic Suffers Knee Injury

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has tonight suffered a knee injury which saw him hobble from the field in Manchester United’s Europa League victory over Anderlecht.

The striker fell awkwardly when leaping for a cross, appearing to hyperextend his knee joint. A stretcher was called, although the striker chose instead to make his own way from the field with the help of medical staff.

United also lost defender Marcos Rojo to injury in the same match on 23 minutes – also to a knee injury – with the Argentine now another major concern for Gameweek 34.

Post-match, Jose Mourinho was not keen to commit his views on both setbacks…

“I don’t think they’re easy injuries but I prefer to wait until all the tests are done”

However, when asked if he hoped the initial prognosis was “fairly positive” he replied “fairly negative” and confirmed them as likely bad injuries.

Further quotes then surfaced from Mourinho’s post-match press conference…

“My feeling is not good for both. I want to be optimistic but I’m not.”

Ibrahimovic has been the top attraction in the Fantasy Premier League transfer market ahead of United’s double Gameweek fixtures at Burnley and Manchester City – more than 89,000 had swooped early ahead of Saturday’s deadline to secure his services. His participation in those fixtures, and perhaps the season run-in, must now be in doubt.

The Swede’s absence paves the way for Marcus Rashford to maintain his recent run of form and step up. The 6.5 FPL option again put in a sparkling display and has now scored three goals in his last three outings in all competitions having struck United’s extra-time winner against the Belgians.

Rashford had already been brought in by 58,000+ ahead of United’s two fixtures, although there will be some concerns that he may be subject to a rest in the first fixture at Burnley on Sunday; the 19-year-old played 120 minutes and would perhaps need to be preserved for the City clash. Wayne Rooney, who returned to the bench for Thursday’s tie, could now be a factor at Turf Moor at least.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Negredo for me. I think he looks up for it lately, new manager seems to have changed the mentality, and two decent fixtures.

I feel like someone needs to do a community article to way up the pros and cons.

If Ibra out for season you may want Rashford for his dgw37. If you get him now you could save 0.2

I currently have Benteke and Rashford (C) but can definitely see the appeal with Negredo

Now that zlatan is injured and there is no rojo..
which are the following options should i do ?

    A) Sell Aguero and Lukaku for Rashford and Negredo (-4)
    B) Sell Aguero and Baines for Negredo/Rashford and Bailey (-4)
    C) Sell Aguero for Negredo *no hit*

    My current team

    Grant
    Valencia, Baines, Gibson
    Sanchez , Ali, Deroon, Coutinho
    Lukaku, Aguero, Benteke

Hazard is good for the season

Rashford good for next 2 gameweeks

Barragan has doubts on minutes so get gibson instead or chambers, only good for this week.

    My morning so far

    Woke up

    Checked the result of United

Checked the subs made in the game

Read through the comments 1 by 1 on the match commentary. Shocking stuff

Shame about Ibra, that could be the end of his career. As an early Kane owner, I annoyed by this. Was never going near Ibra for the doubles, now every man and his dog will own Kane next week. Oh well.

My thought are with Ibra and everyone who took a hit to bring in Rojo and Ibra in..

The Rashford dilemma is really frustrating because there are two very strong arguments:

    1) United have no other strikers (Rooney is well past it)
    2) EL is a higher priority and Rashford is a 19 year old who just played 120 mins with a 3 day break before the game and a 2 day break before Burnely

Didn't consider the Martial option but that's probably more likely than Rooney even if he hasn't played there for a while.

As bizarre as Fellaini up top sounds, wouldn't be surprised seeing as Mourinho rates him highly and I think he has played there when subbed on once or twice.

A few weeks back when half the league was absent, there were calls of: "each transfer is only really -2", i kind of saw the logic, but stayed away from too many moves. Does this logic hold for DGW players? If a player plays twice, then without any goals, assists, or clean sheets, that means a reward of 4 points for a -4 hit.

Do all hits count equally this week? Is a -4, -8 or even a -12 realy the same if all those players play twice?

    1. Holmes
      • 10 Years
      7 years, 1 month ago

Different case this time... The player you are taking out will probably have a game. So it isnt as simple as 2pts hits.

    2. Geri-hatricks
      • 7 Years
      7 years, 1 month ago

But remember what would happen if you didn't take the hit: you would have a player with at least 2 points if they start plus the potential of scoring, assisting, CSing etc

With that other GW it was guaranteed -2 because you knew it was definitely a blank if you didnt take a hit

    3. fedolefan
      • 10 Years
      7 years, 1 month ago

Hits are always worth -4. But yeah, single GW blank = 2, double GW blank = 4-4 = 0. So, yeah, you are giving away 2 points in effect for extra 90 minutes to get returns.

      Yeah I agree that's it's not worth a hit.

Starting to consider him myself on a free though seeing as Bournemouth and Sunderland are two of the worst defences and Boro are desperate for goals

Yep, Martial too, there are options. Rashford is exciting though.

*throws a name right back at you*

      Anthony Martial

Neither are likely to score many points though.

Pity about that, I was a fan of Martial's last year. The kid's lost his way a little bit it seems.

Someone above also suggested Martial starting up top. Hasn't played for a long time but desperate times call for desperate measures...
