Ibrahimovic Suffers Knee Injury

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has tonight suffered a knee injury which saw him hobble from the field in Manchester United’s Europa League victory over Anderlecht.

The striker fell awkwardly when leaping for a cross, appearing to hyperextend his knee joint. A stretcher was called, although the striker chose instead to make his own way from the field with the help of medical staff.

United also lost defender Marcos Rojo to injury in the same match on 23 minutes – also to a knee injury – with the Argentine now another major concern for Gameweek 34.

Post-match, Jose Mourinho was not keen to commit his views on both setbacks…

“I don’t think they’re easy injuries but I prefer to wait until all the tests are done”

However, when asked if he hoped the initial prognosis was “fairly positive” he replied “fairly negative” and confirmed them as likely bad injuries.

Further quotes then surfaced from Mourinho’s post-match press conference…

“My feeling is not good for both. I want to be optimistic but I’m not.”

Ibrahimovic has been the top attraction in the Fantasy Premier League transfer market ahead of United’s double Gameweek fixtures at Burnley and Manchester City – more than 89,000 had swooped early ahead of Saturday’s deadline to secure his services. His participation in those fixtures, and perhaps the season run-in, must now be in doubt.

The Swede’s absence paves the way for Marcus Rashford to maintain his recent run of form and step up. The 6.5 FPL option again put in a sparkling display and has now scored three goals in his last three outings in all competitions having struck United’s extra-time winner against the Belgians.

Rashford had already been brought in by 58,000+ ahead of United’s two fixtures, although there will be some concerns that he may be subject to a rest in the first fixture at Burnley on Sunday; the 19-year-old played 120 minutes and would perhaps need to be preserved for the City clash. Wayne Rooney, who returned to the bench for Thursday’s tie, could now be a factor at Turf Moor at least.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I'm either chasing or leading in my various leads, all by 30-odd points. Closest end to a season I can remember in a while... And my decision-making has gone to pot. Had 21 points on the bench last week (Negredo, Valencia, Maguire.)

On the plus side, I have two free transfers, the Ibra news actually goes in my favour in a couple of cases, and a few rivals seem to be getting a bit giddy with hits. What would you do with this lot..?

    Pickford (Foster)
    Valencia, Maguire, Davies (Pieters, McAuley)
    Sanchez, Eriksen, Siggy, Zaha (Barkley)
    Aguero, Lukaku, Negredo

    I was thinking maybe Aguero & McAuley -> Benteke/Rashford & Bailly?

Or is it more of a priority to address my lack of efffective Spurs cover?! Time to get Kane in and forget the double?

Do you still have WC in tact? I'd be tempted to keep Aguero for GW's 34/35 rather than force him out for DGW forward. McAuley to Bailly looks good. I'd get rid of Aguero only for Kane

I do have a wildcard, yeah - will play it next week or the week after.

Am reluctant to lose Aguero, for sure.. I've felt fine with forward slots all season, but they suddenly seem to be really competitive!

Yeah, Aguero to Kane looks like a good move.
McAuley surely. You can get Gibson too imo.

The appeal of Kane is that the person chasing me in the one league I'm winning has him, whereas none of the people who I am chasing have him - unless they've got him this week.

Also, Kane loves a London derby, and has three in a row - followed by a DGW. But arghhhh, Aguero's fixtures are also banging after this week.

        What a conundrum.

    De Gea
    Alonso Walker Gibson
    Zaha Siggy Sanchez Alli King
    Lukaku Kane

    Pickford Llorente Baines Holebas

This is the best I can do at the moment.
    A. Stick - risking the Walker rotation and only have 3 dgws.
    B. Punt on Tekkers/Negredo/Rashford for Llorente. Bench Siggy.
    C. Punt on Tekkers/Negredo/Rashford for Llorente. Bench Walker and use AoA.

Blind has to now be an option. Can cover both LB and CB.

Mourinho wants Jones and Smalling to 'be brave' and come back from injury in beginning of May instead of mid May which just seems ridiculous, especially since they are so brittle

Morning - Not sure if anyone has mentioned but it looks like Ibrahimovic might have a little boo-boo?!

Anyway! I used my FT to bring him in now will have to -4 to get him out - Rashford is the obvious choice but open to all suggestions, willing to go -12 as all those around me in my ML are in the same boat so -4 of my -12 is pretty much a free shot (similar to what Jonty mentioned in the podcast)

With Carroll still injured my decision is which 2 strikers to bring in, or scrap 3-4-3 altogether, bring in a DGW defender for Brunt (or upgrade Grosicki) and play 4-4-2 (or 3-5-2 if Grosicki is the better option to shift).

Also have the issue of Grant possibly being ousted for Butland but I have my WC intact if needed.

    Grant - Pickford
    Alonso - Maguire - Mawson - Valencia - Brunt
    Siggy - Alli - Eriksen - Zaha - Grosicki
    Carroll - Kane - Ibra

He started OOP last night and that's where he got his assist from, I think if Wayne is on and looks lacklustre it's easy for Mourinho to drop him deeper and shift Rashford to striker. I think even from the wing he could do something.

No but he should play at least one of the games and is good for the rest of the season

      Best move here?

      A) Brunt -> Gibson (-4)

      B) Play Pieters (swa)

Is there any love for Luke Shaw instead of Bailly/Blind? I already have Valencia.

      Thanks

I guess the worry is Darmian and Young can replace the two full backs.

I can't see Rashford starting vs Burnley.

Would be amazed if he did.

      Struggling here lol
      A. Alonso, baily, KING (all out attack)

      Or

      B. Alonso, ben davies, baily

Mini league head to head opponent has vertonghen, eriksen, alli.

I have alli so a potential 5 points gained on clean sheets over me. Must win game. Cheers

Just got laid off from my job this week. I also brought in Rojo and Zlatan for the DGW for a hit.
      Could use a break.
