Dugout Discussion

Dugout Discussion – Wednesday

The extended Gameweek 34 continues with a big night that delivers three hugely anticipated matches.

There could barely be more Fantasy interest across the trio of encounters, with a scattering of key assets in action.

Firstly, Middlesbrough’s Alvaro Negredo, signed by 201,000 and backed by an improbable 155,000 (3.5%), will bid to improve on a dismal 2-point return from his first fixture when he faces Sunderland at the Riverside Stadium. A crunch encounter for both teams, there will also be keen interest in the Boro defence with Ben Gibson signed by 118,000+ ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke was undoubtedly the weekend’s star performer with a brace at Anfield to provide his 506,000+ ownership with a 12-point return. Backed by 96,000 (2.1%) with the armband, he will look to build on that return in tonight’s encounter with Spurs.

But the title-challenging visitors will boast their own cast of key figures, with Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen supported by an army of Fantasy owners. Kane is himself backed by 244,000 with the GW34 captaincy.

Finally, at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal will host Leicester City as they bid to revive their top four ambitions having navigated to the FA Cup Final at the weekend.

The big news from north London is that Alexis Sanchez may just be restored to the central striker role, with both Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud benched – Theo Walcott comes in and could also be a contender for that position if Wenger retains the 3-4-2-1 system.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I was so happy that Fabio was going to get me at least a point, but then he goes and gets himself a YC.

Pretty similar teams. Nightmare gw before the Eriksen goal. Kane (c), so an assist helped. 58 (-4), with de Gea and Valencia left, that would be around average? Benched de Roon, Baines and Holgate though.

    DDG Pickford
    Alonso Monreal Clichy Stephens Holgate
    Sanchez Hazard Alli xxx King
    Kane xxx Gabbiadini

14.5 for those 2 spots (or more if I downgrade elsewhere) what is my best option? Came up with 3 possibilities already

    A) Sane + Rashford (Both a bit of rotation risk but might be good options if they play)
    B) Zaha + Jesus (Seems a more nailed combo although Jesus might be a hit or miss)
    C) JWP + Costa (Would need to downgrade Monreal to Gabriel for example but will he keep playing?)

I apologise. That wasn't aimed at me was it. I was wondering where I said rubbish but I see it wasn't me. He's a very good player I hope we sign him ( spurs) but FPL wise..hes just not that good.

Obviously I am a bit affected at the moment, so I exaggerated. He's a great talent and he's even gotten me some points in the past. It's just this game when all of my opponent's players produce results game after game after game (King, WTF) I become too demanding of all my players.

I agree it's a bad idea getting palace mids especially with those fixtures, but double game weeks will do that to you, plus, he was an enabler for another diasppointing player - Sanchez.

          Sorry I overreacted 🙂

For all the stick newbies take for blowing their TC chip too early, I'm starting to think it's a decent tactic (Aguero and Ibra in Wk2, for example) - sniffing out the hauls whilst players have bags of energy and getting a decent start under your belt seem a damn site more effective than weighing up the mood weeks ahead of a DGW.
