Introducing – Yahoo Daily Fantasy Football

Fantasy Football Scout are delighted to announce Yahoo Daily Fantasy Football as our brand new partner game for the 2017/18 season.

While this may be a new game to many of you, Yahoo is, of course, a hugely well-known and trusted name. They were also one of the first to pioneer an online Fantasy Football game, with their season-long game one of the most engaging around.

Now Yahoo have returned with a daily Fantasy sports offering that we will be covering throughout the season.

That also means we will be able to present you with some fantastic offers, including a huge free-to-play half-season tournament with over £40,000 in prizes and perhaps even the chance to win £1 million. No, really. More on that later this week.

Yahoo are also providing a superb introductory offer for our visitors whereby, if you deposit £5, you’ll get a free £50 credited to your account. See the foot of this article for details on how to sign up and get started.

What is Yahoo Daily Fantasy Football?

If you’ve played any daily Fantasy Football or “DFS” games before, you will be instantly familiar with the concept of the Yahoo game.

You have £200 million to build a team of 11 players that you can enter in a variety of contests that are either free to play or have an entry fee with cash prizes on offer.

Each player has a value assigned which changes week-to-week based on their performance and popularity in the previous Gameweek.

The scoring system is more detailed than both Fantasy Premier League and Sky Sports – but that’s a good thing. Based on Opta data, the scoring brings a wider range of players into the mix, including those often-neglected defensive midfielders.

We will have an in-depth article, examining the nuances of the scoring system, very soon.

Yahoo’s contests allow you to tinker with your line-ups right up until kick-off, so you can monitor teamsheets and use the “late swap” feature to swoop for bargains and remove absent players.

Week to week, we will be bringing you our Yahoo Focus articles to help steer the nucleus of your XI for the weekend contests.

Why Should I play?

While so much of the Yahoo game is familiar and easy to grasp, it’s very different in a number of key ways – not least because it is very friendly for new players.

The game operates a “Fair Play” policy, with many of their contests allowing just a single-team entry, while others allow only up to ten teams per user. This levels the playing field and increases the chances that new players can compete for prizes.

There are also “no veterans” or “rookie only” contests which allow you to play and learn the game before taking on experienced managers in bigger contests. However, if you become a seasoned player, you can, of course, take part in contests that allow 50+ teams.

As mentioned, the scoring system is also finely balanced and perfectly suited to our visitors.

We are all familiar with Opta data and, if you’ve got yourself a Fantasy Football scout membership, you already have access to statistics and tools to help you select teams in the Yahoo game. We’re even building custom tables and will be implementing player prices into those tables in the coming weeks.

The Yahoo game is also fully localised for a UK audience. That may sound like a small thing but, with other daily games talking in dollars and asking you to build “rosters”, it’s nonetheless a welcome touch.

The other main reason to play is that the game has a huge range of contests for all players. There are free-to-play games, contests with entry fees as small as 25p right up to £1,000 for the high rollers.

You can register now and compete in the Gameweek 1 £10k contest that offers a £2k top prize for a £5 entry fee.

How Do I Start?

Yahoo’s Gameweek 1 contests are up and running so you can register an account and get started immediately.

As mentioned, if you register and deposit £5 or more, Yahoo will also give you a £50 bonus to be used in-game.

  • Register here
  • Deposit £5 or more and use the code FANTASY50 to claim your £50 credit
  • Choose a contest and start selecting your first Yahoo squad.

Later this week we will bring you news of the huge Fantasy Football Scout Yahoo Cup contest, which is free to play and with £50k in prizes.

Look out for details of that and further articles on the Yahoo Daily Fantasy Football game to come before August 11.

You must be over 18 years of age, resident in the UK, and of legal capacity to register with Yahoo Daily Sports and open an Account. If you sign up, please always play responsibly.

Anyone with Trippier, Willan, Zaha, KDB, Kane, worried that they all have tough GW2 games? I have all of them :/

Zaha might do ok away to Liverpool, that was where Liverpool always struggled last year, winnable home games. Likewise KDB won't be too worried about playing anyone at home, let alone a new Everton team still gelling. Chelsea Spurs mightn't be high scoring though

    Which do you like more?
    Foster+KdB or DDG+Cout/Salah

Is Salah even nailed? He scored a lot in preseason, didn't watch. Playing well or just luck?

Anyone else finding their squad constantly changing now? My latest is below... but worried about treble Utd & zero Liverpool... also no Alli & no Chelsea! Could do Zaha,Jesus, JWP > KDB, Firmino, & RLC if that would help?

    Foster
    Bailly, Trippier, Bertrand, Aké
    Mkhi, Phillips, Zaha
    Kane, Kaku, Jesus
    (Myhill, JWP, Carroll, 4.0)

You will struggle to get in Liverpool mids keeping that frontline.

Likely downgrade Jesus, and get one in.

Firmino is likely playing reverse OOP and would be one to avoid. That at least is the consensus so watch him go off GW1

Have managed to accommodate Coutinho below, looking any better?

        Foster
        Lindelof, Trippier, Cedric, Aké
        Coutinho, Phillips, Willian
        Kane, Kaku, Jesus
        (Myhill, Carroll, RLC, 4.0)

          If it does to you.

Salah may be the one to get based off preseason and be weary of RLC.

Not nailed and will lose value quickly with his ownership.

IMO your front 3 is hurting your overall balance.

              Forget Sane.

Barely played this preseason, more rotation risk then the front two. KDB looks to be the "safe" pick.

Nice team. I'd rather heavy up front. It's where 60%+ of goals come from. Wait on city to see what happens. Still a while from day one really

i have almost settled with this team , it might need a couple of minor adjustments if not everyone starts but other than that i'm content with this

    Hennessey
    Trippier/Kolasinac/Cresswell
    Salah/KDB/zaha/Shaqiri
    Lacazette/Aguero/Sandro

    subs Hart/Carrol/Holgate/Long

there is obviously a doubt weather Aguero will start ,but i'm willing to take a punt on him for the first gameweek at least cos city might rack up a cricket score against Brighton in their first match and i don't wanna miss out on a possible points bonanza lol

also there is slight doubts about Holgate & Sandro , the former i don't really care about as he can be easily transferred , but the later imo is potentially gonna be dynamite this season based on what i've seen of him on youtube , although it is possible that Koeman will ease him in slowly , i hope not but we shall see

i can't afford kane , Lukaku i might have to eventually buy if Aguero doesn't start , i have sneaky feeling though that united's game against west ham will be a tight affair so don't be surprised if Lukaku doesn't score (again)

          Would disagree.

I see Man U coming out strong this year and good chance Lukaku is in the goals.

You have KDB. Is that not enough City with the rotation risks?

no city are gonna score a ton of goals this season , KDB isen't a rotation risk , Aguero is , but i'm willing to transfer him if my gamble on him doesn't pay off , and utd may well start strongly this year but i still expect their first game to be a tight affair , i believe the same fixture finished 1-1 last year , this year west ham have a much better squad while utd have pretty much the same except it will be Lukaku instead of Ibra , is that an upgrade ? probably but not much

West Ham have Zabster on defense.. that is "much better?"
Lukaku will likely score one, assist one and get 2-3 bonus points.

Zabaleta ? he's a fine addition to the west ham squad , and with arni + chica + a fit again ayew going forward they will be a handful for any team imo

It's interesting because it's a little different. No Kane or Lukaku would worry me although I'm thinking about risking no Kane either because he doesn't start well typically. I agree with you about Sandro but I think Evertons early fixtures are a bit rough to have him until later.

    How is it looking?

Does Alonso justify the "risk" of Rodriguez?

Will rotate Milivojevic and Suttner as fixtures match up well.

    Foster (Elliot)

    Alonso Trippier Yoshida (Suttner 4.0)

    KDB Salah Zaha Milivojevic (Carroll)

    Kane Lukaku Rodriguez

I like Chelsea to the international break even with Spurs fixture with Alonso's attacking ability.

Rodriguez from all signs is looking like he will start, certainly have to monitor.

I guess I just hate the 6.5 forwards an don't see much between them and Jrod at 6.0

    Foster / Elliot

Also thinking this through. it's a pity palace's GW1 & gw2 fixtures weren't the other way around, would make a very easy Willian GW1 Zaha gw2 move! Zaha better long term but Willian could be better until has gets back.

Then again, will Chelsea score as many without haz & costa & new players for their first few games? I'm not so sure now

Team looks strong but your one player down? Also would probably replace Ramsey

Sorry third striker is quarner. Maybe ramsey > tadic and mee > daniels

Tadics fixtures are looking good but he isnt showing much form from preseason.
Perhaps you could do ramsey > richie or another 6 option, seems to be quite a few.

Try and use your spare funds to upgrade your third striker maybe? I dont know who quarner is unfortunatly >

Cheers, good suggestion. Quarner is 4.5m bench fodder

Needs 3 strikers, even though you're going kaneless 😉

After the Community shield everybody will want Batshuayi. You heard it here first.

Way too boring for most people. An 8.5m Chelsea striker on the other hand solves the 3rd striker issue.

Morata isn't ready for the PL yet. Will be eased in with time on the wing.

Yeah I dont follow football super closely (I live in NewZealand) But I did see conte start Morata on the left wing with Batman starting striker. Hoping this will continue

Its worth the early gamble. There are no obvious 3rd strikers at the moment so an easy downgrade to the one that emerges.

    My lastest team. Any suggestion?

    Hennessy / Elliot

    Dawson / Cedric / Alonso / Rangel / Lascelles

    Willian / Fabregas / Eriksen / KDB / Mesa

    Jesus / Lukaku / JRod

    I will go with 3-4-3

    Thanks

Hey guys, been settled on this team for the past hour 4-4-2 (it'll change in the next day probably) what do you think?

    Forster, Elliot
    Alonso, Yoshida, Danilo, Valencia, Rangel
    Alli, WIllian, Mane, Miliv, Carrol
    Kane, Laca, Quaner

But thinking of changing the below
    A. Forster, Yoshida, Mane
    to
    B. De Gea, Bertrand, Ozil

    Cheers

Morning chaps, does this starting XI justify the horror bench?

    Foster
    Alonso, Trippier, P.Jones
    KDB, Salah, Willian, Mili
    Kane, Lukaku, Austin

    (Elliot)(Carroll, Long, 4m)

tbh although Jones is nailed for the first few GWs, he is no attacking threat nor a bonus magnet...and neither is Milli a great PPM player...since chelsea's fixtures are not great, id say for now stick to only willian from them and downgrade alonso...and upgrade elsewhere...just a suggestion though...

Too much uncertainty in your lineup
          Alonso Jones Austin

Mili is meh.. Willian is short term... Salah could be rotated although I have him and will keep but in your lineup it will be fatal to have all these players...

        Tripp/Danilo/Pied
        Eriksen/Salah/Mkhi/Willian
        Lukaku/Jesus/Austin

        Sub: elliott/Trent AA/Carrol/Rosenoir

Can anyone tell me how much tammy abraham is nailed?
Is he more nailed than Austin?

For the first 6/7 who would you prefer?
    A. Chadli
    B. Ritchie

ritchie for sure as chadli played Wingback in preseason..and no setpiece duty...ritchie has both setpieces and penalties, and fixtures are great after GW1
And yes, Tammy is nailed on for now till Llorente is up to speed

I find owning KDB frustrating, at least for the short periods that I had him in my team last season.

He was playing too deep during that time and although he was dynamite at the start and the end of the season, his output FPL terms aside from that was pretty poor relative to his price. And watching a premium priced mid playing deep makes you want to throw things at the TV.

What do we think will change this year?

He will get points imo. Especially if City play with 3 at the back. I have him, and I think we need to be patient.

He still got 199 points last season in his so called deep playing frustrating season...
And now he has become more lethal in City New formation and with one year under Pep and city improving all around he will Be Gold

      *I rest my case

Yes, you're right about the points, but for long periods he certainly wasn't worth the money.

I hope you're right about his lethal nature in the new formation but I fear Pep continuing to mess around with it.
