The Technical Area – Spurs’ Wembley Woes

Another Gameweek, another Harry Kane blank.

As covered in Sunday’s Knee Jerk, it wasn’t supposed to be like this, so in this week’s Technical Area we’ll be digging through the rubble of another disappointing weekend at Wembley and dissecting exactly what seems to be ailing Spurs – and in particular their talismanic forward.

Incorrect. Clark most nailed as Lejeune will have to come back after injury.

My wildcard team will probably look something like:

    Foster, Elliot

    Cedric, Jones, Fernandez, Lowe/Ward, Mbemba,

    Hazard, Pogba, Eriksen, Salah, Rlc

    Lukaku, Firmino, Chicharito

    What do you think?

Too much newcastle players. Elliot>4.5 , Chicharito>Abraham, rlc>Mooy/Brady looks more stronger and not having Che defence is risky

Don't have any, so far they are proving me wrong but I didn't like LIV without Couts last season... seemed poor.

    Foster Elliot
    Alonso Valencia Bertrand Kompany (Hunemeier)
    Eriksen Pogba Willian Tadic (Carroll)
    Lukaku Jesus (Quaner)
    2ft, 0.5m itb.
First thinking: Kompany to Davies or Naughton and save the other transfer and then bring Firmino, Morata or Salah, or even Kane the week after.
    Any other idea?

In all truth, anywhere from £40-60 million wouldn't surprise me remotely.

For the stick he gets, which I give him plenty of, the guy has hit double figures in goals and assists in all comps every season since 2013/14 and is still just 22. English premium factored in as well.

£40 million imo is the more sensible level, £60 million is with today's valuations. No club will shell out £70-80 million for him imo.

Transfermarkt has him at 45 million euros but they put Coutinho and 45 as well and Van Dijk at 30 so these are most definitely on the low side of the spectrum.

  13. Krafty Werks

    Foster (Elliot)
    Kolasinac, Stephens, Lowe (Suttner, Long)
    KDB, Mane, Mikhitaryan, Carroll (RLC)
    Kane, Lukaku, Chicharito

    A - KDB > Alli?
B - KDB & Long > Alli & Wimmer -4 (with Wimmer a likely starter at Stoke this offers another defensive option rather than fodder)
C - KDB & Long > Silva & Bavies/Trippier? -4 (if this then it really does strengthen my weakening defense but would you prefer Bavies or Trippier?)
    D - KDB & Chicharito > Silva & Firmino -4
    E - Save FT.

Based on what we know from first 3 games this looks like the perfect team. David Silva has looked very good so far but in a few weeks time the picture at City could change. Great team to lock in value though, i d say every player is going to rise in value soon.

    GW4 Captaincy is interesting.

    Kane (eve)
    Lukaku (stk)
    Mane (mci)
    Mhki (stk)
    Erik (eve)

    OR...
Dawson (bha)...?? Brighton cannot score a goal, and WBA defense is looking solid as usual, plus Dawson ariel threat. Seriously considering it. Anyone else?

    1. Speédy
      • 7 Years

I don't think it's crazy. Certainly a risk. But if you have watched Brighton, they have looked poor in attack and West Brom have looked like a wall in defense. If you look at the other 5 options, I genuinely reckon Dawson is the most likely to return. At least a CS.

I don't know why people over complicate this issue. its very simple....Sell Kane buy Firmino. When Kane price drops before GW4 and Firmino price rise you swap back again. Thus making money and keep your original pick. Worse case scenario you keep the transfer for GW4 and see what happens and change it back for GW5 when Kane fixtures look good and he will still be cheaper.

        1. Kloppen Schloppen
          • 7 Years
          6 years, 8 months ago

Are you suggesting swapping Kane to Firmino now, and then before the GW4 deadline, transferring Kane back in, for a hit?

100% do the trade to Firmino for GW4 and keep, but swapping Kane in and out (for a hit!) just to gain 0.4 or whatever is not good advice.

I have Dawson but not considering it for a second. Brighton aren't a dreadful team like Sunderland or villa were, they'll probably score soon. I'm sticking with Kane, now august is done with it's time for his overdue haul.

Dawson can possibly get a 15pt-er, worth it possibly, but he also might end up with 1pt if they concede + YC.
As good an opportunity as any to (C) a defender other than Alonso.

      1. Kloppen Schloppen
        • 7 Years
        6 years, 8 months ago

I think this week is a great week to captain a differential. It's quite risky though, as you've pointed out. I just feel like a 6 pointer from Dawson is more certain then a hat-full of points from any of my other options.

But having said that, I will certainly be monitoring the progress of Kane, as I think if Kane can get going for England, he will turn that into goals for Spurs.

He is on 68% and rising fast so yeah, he will probably rise.

Kane, Lukaku, Salah or Jesus. Not a clue tbh

Yeah really hard to predict who comes back form the break and fires. Out of my options, I'm genuinely looking at Dawson's away fixture at Brighton. But dunno, it's risky. Could be the week for a risk though!!

        Redmond or Mooy?

WC tinkering, and taking the latter means I could upgrade Morata or Lukaku to Kane when he starts finding the net.
Lukaku to Kane only with Redmond.

Why would you even have Redmond?

He has created a lot of chances and had plenty of shots at goal, but just one assist to show for it.
Good point. The guy is wasteful.

Neither tbh. Mooy is decent value I guess

Everything runs through Mooy on that team. I like having a player like that especially a cheap one. Mooy for me.

I think it'll be the way to go, means two sub 6 mids in a 3-4-3 but Alonso (goal attempts) and B Davies (chances created) are up there with the top mids stats so I might just run with it and see how it goes.

        Salah or Mane?

          0.5 should be a factor

Both will get very similar points by the end of the season. Pick one and stick with them all season. I chose Salah as he was 0.5m cheaper and I could spend that cash elsewhere.

I'm thinking of Wildcarding to B, my Current Attack is A, Thoughts?

        A) Pogba Willian Salah RLC Eriksen - 352
        Kane Jesus McBurnie

        B) Pogba Mkhi Salah RLC Cork - 343
        Kane Morata Firmino

My issue with 352 is the lack of replacement options for Willian

Go for it. However, in the 352 you could always sell Willian and RLC and buy a 6.0m and a 5.0m to spread the cash and achieve a more balanced team.

Cedric or Hegazi would be my personal favourites.
