This is a very strange experience.

Denied the opportunity to host this week’s ScoutCast by BT’s shortcomings and with the Wildcard active, I am forced to join you and eavesdrop while my decision-making is torn apart by Andy, Jonty, Az and Luke. I have to admit, it’s pretty tortuous.

It’s like my hands are firmly fastened to the couch while the quartet lapdance* their critique around me. How I want to get “involved”.

Aside from appraising my “ill-timed” Wildcard, the boys tackle your other community questions.

They consider the Liverpool double-up, question whether midfield coverage can replace either Kane and Lukaku, debate whether Alonso is essential and then look at how fixtures can shape cheap defensive acquisitions.

I’m pretty sure they answer them all exactly as I would. In fact, listening back, they appear to justify my Wildcard for me. I can hardly wait for next week.

      Hmm, very similar to mine - same front 3 + Alonso.
      However, I'm wary of the non-playing defender.
      You're going 4-3-3 so I'd shave 0.5 off mid by downgrading Ritchie and having a playing 4.5 defender.

      What do you reckon here guys? If I was playing 'sensibly' I'd probably lose Gross for someone like Brady, but I'm keeping him for the next 3 winnable brighton games due to my Brighton bias and hoping he gets some returns...

      I think PvA needs to go.

      1) Stick to my 'wingbacks only' policy and get Naughton
      2) Get Phil Jones, who is pretty secure in my opinion
      3) Keep PvA and bank the transfer

        I think ditch PVA now for say Jones or maybe even Mee..someone with a better fixture that Patrick this week, save a bit of dosh and if someone emerges this gameweek you can potentially upgrade next.

        Bank it unless he is about to drop. Burnley away has to be considered good and palace will be really keen to shape up now or Frank loses his job. I would give PvA a last chance.

      First post om here of the season,

      Happy to cast your eyes over my team ? I am on "Wilcard Duty" :

      Foster / Elliott

      Alonso / Bellerin / Jones / Macguire / Naughton

      Pogba / Salah / Fernandinho / Loftus-Cheek / Carroll

      Firmino / Lukaku / Kane

      I know my MID is light, but my thinking is to play 4 defenders most weeks, and I think I have some good DEFs in there. I want at least one player from each of the big 6 teams, and I reckon right now Bellerin is the best Arsenal bet of all....he is now a wing back and gets forward. Only 2 seasons ago he scored over 170 points....I am even thinking of captaining him as a differential this GW, home to Bournemouth !

      I also realise Loftus-Cheek is injured, but sounds a minor one and should be back soon....playing up front he could yet turn out to be a good shout at his price.

      And above all, decided to go Kane & Lukaku.....I tried many combinations (and hours !) trying different teams with a more "all round feel" - but in the end I just cannot get past omitting either Kane or Lukaku....they remain by far the best captain choices in the whole game (only Sanchez and Hazard come close to them)

        Looking really good apart from midfield.

        I would love to take a punt on Bellerin too but there look so bad defending now you can't bank on the 15/16 defensive form.

        Would seriously consider downgrading him and using that money to upgrade Fernandinho.

        I quite like it and agree with the logic around Kane and Lukaku. However Fernandinho is the real issue here i feel, he just simply won't deliver loads of points and loves a card.

        I'd be tempted, assuming you want to keep a similar structure, to downgrade either naughton to a 4.0m bench fodder or Maguire to and 4.5m / 4m defender, to allow you a little bit of cash for the mid.

        If you did the former maybe someone like Mooy would work? If the latter and you had 1m to play with could go Richarlison maybe?

          Very conscious of my MID lacking, and may well see if I can upgrade Fernandinho....although I do want some City coverage....and I reckoned he is better than say Kante, Matic or Xhaka as every season he is good for around 5 goals.

          Another tactic I may do is have Lacazette for this GW only, even captain him, then bosh Kane straight in ready for next GW

          But do we know if Lacazette is nailed on ? That is the problem

          Just afraid he might be benched for Monreal if they go for 4 at the back.
          Havent looked to good with 3 at the back and ended up going back to 4 at the back many times at half times.
