The ScoutCast – Episode 231 – Eavesdrop

This is a very strange experience.

Denied the opportunity to host this week’s ScoutCast by BT’s shortcomings and with the Wildcard active, I am forced to join you and eavesdrop while my decision-making is torn apart by Andy, Jonty, Az and Luke. I have to admit, it’s pretty tortuous.

It’s like my hands are firmly fastened to the couch while the quartet lapdance* their critique around me. How I want to get “involved”.

Aside from appraising my “ill-timed” Wildcard, the boys tackle your other community questions.

They consider the Liverpool double-up, question whether midfield coverage can replace either Kane and Lukaku, debate whether Alonso is essential and then look at how fixtures can shape cheap defensive acquisitions.

I’m pretty sure they answer them all exactly as I would. In fact, listening back, they appear to justify my Wildcard for me. I can hardly wait for next week.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link on the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

      Brady for me.

Aarons and Murphy need to impact one game that Atsu fails to perform and they will be challenging with for a start.

Advice my non-wild carded team and potential transfers for September please!

    Foster (Elliot)

    Valencia, Bertrand, Dawson, (Suttner, Mariappa)
    JWP, Eriksen, Pogba, Ritchie
    Kane, Lukaku (C), Mounie

This week JWP for Carroll, Tadic or Antonio (Suggestions/thoughts please!) Week 5 - Suttner to Davies, week 6 - Mounie to Rooney

    Thanks in advance!

Tadic can be a good differential for this week. The same with Antonio. I picked Tadic as I already have Chicharito.

GW5 looks good. For GW6 I would prefer Calvert Lewin

Because he didn't play in his rightful position due to Wenger bootlicking Ox who left anyway. Now Arsenal can get back to putting round pegs in round holes.

    couple of quick ones:

    1) Salah or Ozil (punt on ars fixtures)..no other pool or arsenal cover

Spent far too many hours on this WC team:

    Foster Elliot
    Alonso Kola Cedric Naughton Suttner
    Salah Alli Pogba Knockaert Atsu
    Lukaku Firmino Abraham

1.2 ITB for Lukaku to Kane next week (wouldnt normally plan for a transfer on a wildcard but fancy Kane to blank and drop again while Lukaku will register)

    Feedback appreciated

Like the article but you can use stats to paint any picture you like. My opinion is i think stats are the best option for picking low end players and squad fillers but your gut and eye test for captains and heavy hitters

        1. wagwan
          • Fantasy Football Scout Member
          • 11 Years
          6 years, 8 months ago

I disagree, I think the eye test should be primarily used regardless, with stats being essentially a tie-breaker. Off the top of my head it was the eye test that had me sign George Boyd and Harry Kane before they began making mockeries of their price tags (at 4.4 and 5.5?).

If you can watch every game yes use the eye test but you can't rely on just watching high lights either so i think stats are vital if you want to break into the higher end of the hof. There no right answer you have to use eye and stats. But it's easier to run a team on just stats than just eye test

Decided to bench Hegazi (bri), to bring in Mooy (whu) for what could be a wide open game on Monday night.
A 50/50 decision, as Brighton have yet to score a goal this season.
Maybe Pulis will start with Johnny Evans instead, anyway.

        Elliot
        Jones Cedric Maguire

More than one way to skin a cat.

I have Alonso, Jones and Cedric which I intend to keep all season. Can never be too dogmatic though.

I don't spend more than 4.5 on a keeper, but a 5.0 or 5.5 keeper ought to be for the season.
