Dugout Discussion – Arsenal vs West Brom

The Gameweek concludes at the Emirates Stadium, as Arsenal pay host to West Bromwich Albion.

In short, tonight’s match is very much an audition for Arsenal’s Fantasy assets, who will need to impress in order to enter our thinking for the Gameweeks ahead.

The Gunners have so far been a source of frustration, not least for manager Arsene Wenger.

Alexandre Lacazette has shown glimpses and flirted with our line-ups but goes into tonight’s match cast in the shadow of other heavy-hitters in attack. The Frenchman is still part of 10.2% of squads, though that total continues to dwindle.

Sead Kolasinac is another temptation and perhaps a more viable option.

He has impressed when handed the opportunities by Wenger and now seemingly cemented at left wing-back, he has the chance this evening to play his way into our defences. At 6.0 however, he will need to convince us to push funds into our backlines at a time when attacking players are very much the priority.

Alexis Sanchez could be one of those attacking options but his season has stalled due to injury and unrest to this point. He starts tonight and could easily become the headline act to spark Wildcards and transfer hits aplenty.

But, despite a miserable record at the Emirates, West Brom will surely prove a difficult barrier for Sanchez and Wenger’s attack.

Tony Pulis’ rearguard have conceded the fewest shots in the box in away matches this season (14) and the fewest big chances (2) – both records shared with leaders Manchester City.

They will also pose a threat to Arsenal at set-pieces. Craig Dawson – owned by 4.9% – scored a brace from corner kicks the last time these two teams met.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Haha not really. About a 60 pass move with the whole team involved including the keeper. Finished off with a rabona cross which is then back heeled as a lay off for a 1 touch finish. A great team goal and smart last few touches

    1FT 0.1 ITB

    Foster (Elliott)
    Jones Alonso Naughton Ward (Rosenior)
    Eriksen Alli Moting (RLC Carroll)
    Jesus Kane(c) Morata

Thinking of doing Alli to Mane as I think 3 attacking Spurs players might be a bit risky if they blank and Mane at 9.4 is very tempting, and is a strong differential currently and with potential to rise when he inevitably gets on it again. Good move?

Gonna wait till after CL games obviously, would prefer to keep Eriksen over Alli.

So us non Lukaku owners who got for instance Aguero and Kane. What are we doing?

You want Aguero after Chelsea back anyway.

So use 2 transfers on Lukaku and getting Aguero back or stick the armband with Kane and make a transfer which strenghtens another place?

    Thoughs? Cheers

I know that my rivals in my ML will captain Lukaku.

Quick point. We all know Sanchez Hazard and Kane will score big time this year, probably all 200+, but when other premium assets are scoring at the same, or even better rate, for 1, 2, 3 mil cheaper....why would you even consider them? Only reason I can find is captaincy options, of which only kane out of the 3 is reliable

If Sanchez gets close to last year's form he'll be a very reliable captain choice too. He went on really long runs without blanking, and was quite predictable in his hauls.

possibly, but for a long while that was when he was playing up top, or off Giroud, meaning he was allowed to run in behind. With Laca, I worry about his output being limited

No, City defence is average, Pool were proving that before the Mane sending off. He's at home and no reason why he can't score against City.

He's on fire. City defence based on keep ball. Chelsea like keeping the ball too. First real test for City this season.

Anyone else notice Utd without Pogba look very average.

Can see them dropping points v Pool

Can't wait for Pogba to be back. Looked a great fantasy asset.

Yep, he is so so important to us. But we're still getting the results 😀 Need him back soon though.

Why would Utd concede 3 goals because of Pogba missing?

Tbf we're not very good at keeping the ball without him.

Much better going forward with him but I think defensively still very solid...

With Rashford Lukaku and Martial against their defense I think Utd just shades it.... Coutinho from free kicks is a worry for me...

wont take control of the middle of the park. Coutinho running at your defence with Mane and Salah making runs either side and Firmino occupying the CBs attention is a worrying thought for any team

Can easily say the same going the other way Lukaku, Rash, martial , Mhki against Liverpools atrocious defense and also take into consideration utds height profile and Liverpools ineptitude at defending corners. Liverpool obviously could beat them on the day but to say they will run over Utd is outrageous

Dunno about that, Mourinho never gets smashed when he loses. Plays too tightly. 1-0, 1-1, 0-1. Something like that

Pool's defence is still woeful and Utd have plenty of attacking options.
