The Weekend Team News

Spurs are dealt a massive blow as Harry Kane is ruled out of their trip to Manchester United. West Brom have concerns at the back ahead of a home clash with league leaders Man City, while Bournemouth have mixed news up front as Chelsea roll up to the Vitality Stadium. Here’s our round-up of the team news so far, with eleven press conferences still to come today.

Earlier this morning, Spurs confirmed that Harry Kane has a minor strain to his left hamstring after undergoing assessments.

With a Champions League clash against Real Madrid in midweek, Mauricio Pochettino admitted that his star striker will miss tomorrow’s crucial trip to Old Trafford.

“We cannot take a risk for tomorrow, we’ll see after for Wednesday (v Real Madrid). But tomorrow, it is impossible.”

Fernando Llorente or Son Heung-min will now lead the Spurs attack at Old Trafford, with Pochettino perhaps set to field a 3-4-2-1 formation.

Meanwhile, United’s first-choice centre-halves Phil Jones and Eric Bailly, along with Marcus Rashford, were all pictured back in training yesterday.

Arsene Wenger has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the home encounter against Swansea City.

Martin Olsson is almost certain to miss out for the Swans due to a hamstring injury, while Renato Sanches and Wilfried Bony remain sidelined.

James McArthur and Chung-yong Lee are both doubtful for Crystal Palace’s home fixture against West Ham United due to knocks.

Georginio Wijnaldum has recovered from a knee injury, and is fit to return for Liverpool’s home meeting with Huddersfield Town.

The Terriers’ Elias Kachunga has trained all week following a back injury, and is available for the Anfield clash. Collin Quaner has a chance of being involved after stepping up his recovery from a calf injury.

Roberto Pereyra will miss Watford’s home clash against Stoke City due to a hamstring injury, while Sebastian Prodl and Younes Kaboul remain out.

Peter Crouch (back) is a slight doubt for the Potters, while Bruno Martins Indi remains sidelined.

Tony Pulis will be without Craig Dawson (knee) and James Morrison (achilles) for the home encounter with Manchester City. Gareth Barry (hamstring) and Jonny Evans (groin) remain concerns for the Baggies.

Jermain Defoe is back in training following a hamstring injury and “should be fine” for Bournemouth’s home match with Chelsea, according to Eddie Howe. Josh King has recovered from illness but is now doubtful due to a back problem, while Ryan Fraser will be assessed after picking up a knock in midweek.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche revealed Chris Wood is “touch and go” for the Monday night meeting with Newcastle United due to a hamstring injury, but Sam Vokes could return following an abdominal strain.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of this tomorrow’s 11.30am deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from today’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

I took -8 last night and now have a 12.7 million player on the bench. I think I’ll have to use free hit. Surely gonna be up at least 30 points on what I would have got

Is anyone not suspicious about Poch and his interviews? He said for a long time Rose will be back soon, took about 6 months for him to actually be back. He also said last week Kane ‘was not injured, just tired’ now he has a ‘minor’ hamstring injury. If he doesn’t play midweek V Real will he really play against Crystal Palace?

same with all managers. Happened all the time under Ferguson, Wenger is the same and Mourinho the worst. Pogba wasn't serious apparently and now he's not even spoken about.

I think Poch is hoping he will be fit for Real Madrid if he rests tomorrow.

If not then I guess they will give him the international break to recover? (ie also not risk v Palace)

Why is it the most sensible? Lots of the big players invariably dont make it, and the points will be more limited. I'd rather have a choice of captaining and playing Sanchez et all, rather than Sigurdsson at home to Bournemouth in 29.

Might be left with 9 playing in that gw and losing out by 20-30 points on a freehit. I think a free hit could beat that this week in the right circumstances with the Kane, Coutinho news, City doubt, other problems, and United playing Spurs.

How valuable will the FREE HIT chip be if saved for a later DWG or BLANK?

WCing the week prior and BENCH BOOSTING in the biggest DWG is still the best play, imo. So that leaves the smaller DGWs and BLANKS for the TRIPLE CAPTAIN and FREE HIT chips.

The TRIPLE CAPTAIN chip can be played in a smaller DGW where an in form premium attacker has decent fixtures, meaning the FREE HIT chip is perhaps the 2nd best chip for a decent DGW and/or BLANK (ideally a DGW).

I totally see the appeal of playing the FREE HIT chip this week given the fixtures of lowly owned decent differentials (ARS and LIV assets) and the recent news on Kane, but I think saving the FREE HIT chip is probably still the best move.

    Interested to hear your thoughts!

After taking an 8 point hit last night and now kane will be on my bench. My team looks likely to get 30-40 points after hits. Think I’ll use free hit and hope to hit 70-80 points with sanchez(C)

Don't upset the Free Hit police. You can only use it on a blank GW regardless of if your team is a mess, your rank is shagged and you are on the verge of quitting 🙂

guys - what do you reckon?

    Schmeichel, Elliot,
    Bavies, Jones, Kolasinac, Mee, Clark,
    Chopou, Salah, Eriksen, Sterling, Carroll,
    Kane, Jesus, Abraham.

Kane and Clark for Morata and Otamendi (-4) this week. Then if Kane is fit, Jesus and Kola for Kane and 5.0 next week (-4).

Or a freehit involving Sanchez, Coutinho, Salah, Richarlison etc.

I have Kane priced at 12.6. He currently values 12.7. If he drops 0.1, "my" Kane will worth 12.5 right? So, assuming he will drop, is it smart to sell him for 12.6 today for a nice replacement and bring him back next week (hopefully) at the same 12.6?
