The Technical Area – Silva Under Assessment

As we all know too well, the world of Fantasy football can be a fickle one. Within the space of a Gameweek or two, a must-have acquisition can quickly become dispensable in our quest for the latest man in form.

But patience, as our mothers dutifully instilled in us, is a virtue. And over the course of a long and tumultuous season, it could well be rewarded.

Arguably, nowhere is this erratic ownership cycle more prominent than in the recent case of David Silva.

The Manchester City playmaker, whose ownership ballooned from 160,000 to almost 1.5 million over the course of the first nine Gameweeks, has since found himself shunned. Almost 100,000 owners have parted company as of last weekend, earning him the ignominy of being the week’s most-sold player in Fantasy Premier League.

The appeal of Silva, in theory at least, is twofold.

The reliability of his pitch-time (he has started every Premier League match, playing 870 of a potential 900 minutes to date) has combined with the consistency of his point returns (attacking points in 50% of his matches, including two double-figure hauls) and a fondness for bonus points (an average of 15 baseline BPS per week).

Are managers right to jettison Silva at this juncture? Or is the case of an itchy trigger finger leading us down a dangerous path?

This week’s Technical Area will dive into Silva’s recent performances in order to determine the appropriate strategy for his still-numerous manager base moving forward.

Quite interested in hearing your thoughts on this:

    Vardy + Carrick >> Tammy + Richarlison (-4)

IMO this would provide greater balance to my team with the threat of rotation amongst my Spurs wingbacks, team below:

    Forster
    Walker - Cedric - Trippier - Davies - Maguire
    Sane - Hazard
    Kane(c) - Vardy - Morata

    Bench: Elliot, Carroll, Surman, Carrick

Although you need some Burnley Def in there. Perhaps Pope in for Forster next week, seeing as Forster won't produce very well for the rest of the season? (Look at those fixtures)

Yes maybe, I would also like to get Daniels + Jones in at some stage, but do not want to be taking hits for defensive changes, particularly for playing players.

Got a right conundrum with who to transfer out for Kane out of Morata and Jesus.

Positives Morata - Guaranteed starter, nice fixtures from GW 12 - 21.
Negatives - Not looked great since injury, Chelsea under-performing.

Jesus positives - City looking explosive, nice fixtures GW 12 - 15.
    Negatives - Rotation risk.

For this weekend though you would have thought Jesus would start and has more of a chance of scoring against Arsenal than Morata does against Utd right? I could then always transfer Jesus to Morata next GW? I already have Sterling but him also being a rotation risk means I could have no City players if he doesn't get any minutes...God damn Pep!!!

    Who to rid of:

    A) Morata
    B) Jesus

I'm keeping Lukaku, i like his fixtures going forward (2 home games against New & Brighton).

I think i am also leaning towards Morata as Chelsea seem to have hit a bit of an issue and maybe Hazard is a better Chelsea asset?

Pondering the same thing. Jesus has the better fixture, but Morata is getting into better positions than Jesus (when he's sat on the bench). It's numberwang!

I'm also feeling jesus but pep likes to tease me by playing Aguero mid week making me think Jesus will play...

But the sure starter of Morata is a real swing

It's a tough one to call. To be honest, both Morata and Jesus' stats are rubbish! I'm planning to oust the pair of them unless something drastic changes. And I have a feeling Morata has the better chance of changing his fortunes.

Yeah, I was thinking Morata and Jesus to Kane and Firmino, but the laters stats are way off in the league. But he was good last night. I don't have Salah at present and debating the following:

              A: Jesus + Sanchez to Kane + Salah -4
              B: Jesus + Eriksen + Davies to Kane + Salah + Mee -8

a bit late, so hopefully you still see this!

                But I think A.

-8 isn't worth it and i think Salah and Kane are 100% must haves where as Mee vs Davis less so. Plus i trust eriksen more than any gunners player!

Thoughts on the below? I'd like to keep hold of Sanchez, hence option B. I know its Palace next, but Eriksen stats are off and with Lloris out chances of Bavies clean sheet seems less likely?

Lukakaaaa seems to be main focal point for united, so he’s the sage option although off form a little (hes always blows hot and cold)

Aguero is the higher reward option, but there’s always rotation lingering (and his glass legs)

    Otamendi Jones Ward Dunk Yedlin

However to find Morata to Kane I need to get rid of Otamendi so who should be his replacement?

Highly unlikely. Spurs need him badly. They are a different side without him and we got international break after this gameweek so no reason to rest him.

Apologies if you have already seen this and replied, looking to get as many perspectives on this move as possible:

Quite interested in hearing your thoughts on this:

    Vardy + Carrick >> Tammy + Richarlison (-4)

IMO this would provide greater balance to my team with the threat of rotation amongst my Spurs wingback. Currently playing 5-2-3, which isn't my preference, and this transfer would allow a 4-3-3.

    Forster
    Walker - Cedric - Trippier - Davies - Maguire
    Sane - Hazard
    Kane(c) - Vardy - Morata

    Bench: Elliot, Carroll, Surman, Carrick

Look adequate moves. I’m guessing you you plan to downgrade one of those defenders after this week?

Yeah bud, plan to get Jones, Daniels in - next two priority moves.

Too early but what about the following after the break?
    Davies/ Kola + Ritchie + Jesus to
    Jones + Gross/ Zaha + Lukaku/ Kun (-4)

    (1) Davies or Kola out?
    (2) Gross/ Zaha in?
    (3) Kaku or Kun in?

    Thanks a lot!

My bench currently: Foster, Abraham, Atsu, Jones

All have fantastic fixtures (besides Jones) but I just can't squeeze 'em in.

Jones to start surely? I have Atsu on my bench but can't see a way in. It's the problem with trying to cover Man City mids and Ben Davies, you have a decent bench sometimes lol

Well my defence's worst game is vs Southampton so, yeah.

    Any thoughts?

    Elliot
    Jones | Stones | Davies
Sterling | Ramsey | Richarlison | Salah (VC)
    Firmino | (K)ane | Morata

    Hart | Atsu | Naughton | Mbemba

    0FT £0.5itb

Right guys on the bench? Nothing that warrants a hit? Figure Naughton is decent coverage for the chance that Bavies doesn't play (can't see him only getting 5 mins at the end)

    Pope
    Luiz Otamendi Dunk
    Salah Silva Sterling Richarlison
    Kane(c) Lukaku Joselu

Elliot RLC Cresswell Hunemeier. 1FT, 1.1 Itb.

Which one? Not owning a United defender has been pretty tragic recently, but perhaps that can wait until after IB.
    a) Joselu -> Abraham
    b) Silva -> Alli
    c) Save

      a) looks a good move, but i would go b) if it's a long-term move for alli. He's on my radar and has been looking sharp
