FFS Cup

FFS Cups – Sixth & Seventh Round Draws

Our Cup competitions are ramping up nicely ahead of the FA Cup break, with just 16 teams now remaining in both.

The sixth round of Fantasy Football Scout Cup, which took place during Gameweek 21, saw all our remaining previous winners Mark, Ninja Fit Saints and Gribude tumble out, meaning there will definitely be a new name on this year’s trophy.

Among the most eye catching round seven ties is a match up between the competition’s two highest ranked managers, Az, who was among the top 1,000 following Gameweek 21’s events, and 82 placed Elvarus, who is second in our FFS Members league.

Given their rankings, whoever survives this potentially bruising encounter will surely be recognised as a favourite to take the crown.

However, former FPL winner Tom Fenley (ranked 12,465) is another manager in the last sixteen to watch. He now squares up to Double Blue (ranked 62,419).

The results from the Fantasy Football Scout sixth round can be found here, while the draw for the seventh round – played out over Gameweek 23 – is here.

In the Members Cup’s fifth round, which also took place during Gameweek 21, Cheeseoid (28,812nd) saw off the round’s highest ranked manager Fozilla28 (1,740th) to earn a match up against Gloria Kanchelskis, who is 64,975 places behind this round five giant killer.

John Nerdelbaum, who sent Mark packing in round four, also marches on. His emphatic 65-48 victory over kwapsy in the fifth round sees him win a round six clash with Root, who may have the edge in this tie given his 3,106 ranked side is 9,707 places above John.

Next up for this contest’s highest ranked manager, Gowanyalanger (890th), is a tussle with community veteran Fitzy, who is 55,893 places behind his high-flying opponent.

You can view the full results from the fourth round of Members Cup can be found here, while the draw for the sixth round – also played out over Gameweek 23 – is here.

When Heaton returns from injury will he be back as first choice? I worry that he and Pope will rotate, ruling them both out as fantasy options.

He's expected back at the end of January/start of Feb as far as I know, and Burnley have a great run of fixtures from GW27 (10th of Feb) onwards.

Good points. Both would be a bit too expensive I suppose. Unfortunately we'll have to wait - but I plan to keep on whoever gets the nod.

    Pope Adrian
    Otamendi Christensen Mee Dunk Kabasele
    Salah Alli Sterling Arnautovic RLC
    Kane Aguero Quaner

As it stands I would need to free up 1.2m to upgrade Christensen to Alonso, is there an obvious way to do this other than downgrading Aguero?

    How does this look:

    A. Depoitre, DCL & Eriksen ---> Aguero, Quaner & Lingard for a -4

    B. Play Depoitre/DCL & just upgrade Christensen --> Alonso for free

How does this 4-5-1 WC look?

    Pope (Elliot)
    Otamendi, Christensen, Jones, Mustafi (Schindler)
De Bruyne, Salah, Sterling, Mahrez, Richarlison
    Kane (Wilson, Calvert-Lewin)

I'd downgrade DCL to Quaner and if possible change Otamendi and Christensen to Stones and Alonso. Mustafi to 4.5 possibly as too much money tied in defence for my liking

      1. Pacer.

Too much money invested for what? That's the whole point of a 4-5-1, that there's more value in defence

        If anything I think it's underinvestment for a 4-5-1

Will be hard to find a world class replacement that can play in CL. Not much time either. Sellers will know this and may go with unreal prices for the replacement.

            1. JohnnyMagrinho
                6 years, 5 months ago

If a player participated in this years CL but for a team knocked out at group stages, does that mean they are cup tied if they sign for someone else who is still in the competition?

                      6 years, 5 months ago

See, this is the issue then. Most players we've been linked with are all going to be cup-tied.

Don't understand why we can't just agree a deal with Barcelona now but for the summer. That way there is no chance of his price becoming inflated, he gets a run in the CL and everyone's happy. Makes so much more sense, as long as Phil and Aine are going to be alright living in Liverpool for another, what, 4 or 5 months.

Liverpool have showed a willingness to be patient in the market since *forgottenhisname took control of transfers
Also its not klopps style to just buy a world class attacker because he sold a world class attacker.

Securing top 4 and having a crack at a 6th European title is why I want coutinho to wait 6 months.
If a klopp target is gettable in January at short notice then I'm sure they'll do it. That's unlikely though. The temptation to get whatever quality playmaker is gettable is a mistake and not how klopps rolls. He'll trust his squad players until an ideal player for his vision, that fits the system and philosophy is gettable.
Coutinho leaving will hurt a lot less now than it would have a year ago. Lallana, miner, Wijnaldum, can, aoc will have to step up. Grujic could replace him in the squad

            2. JohnnyMagrinho
                6 years, 5 months ago

Problem is, there's more than just footballing reasons behind this transfer.

His wife desperately wants to go. And maybe Phil himself just thinks living in Spain, being immersed in that culture is closer to home and going to be more amenable to him.

The issue is, John W Henry wont tolerate being bullied. Think it'll come down to, like you guys have said, if we have a replacement lined up and ready to go, and just how much Phil wants to leave.

I have him in both draft and fantasy teams so from a completely selfish point of view I hope he stays... (and the fact I want us to secure top 3 finish and have a CL run...)

i think teams are too worried about being destroyed on counters (understandbly so) so they really don't attack city.

City seem to raise their game in these big matches. They're just on another level from everyone else. I wouldn't be captaining Salah when Kane has Everton

I thought we'd have done better in the reverse fixture earlier in the season. I know Mané was sent off, but we were absolutely annihilated.

It'll be interesting to see how we get on at Anfield. Our defense is impressive at home, but we'll be up against the best attack in the league...

Probably not a bad time to start VVD if I'm being honest. Even though City have best defense in league, when you've got Salah, Mané, Firmino and (potentially) Coutinho on the pitch anything can happen.

VVD will be needed for sure. If they rate him £70m they'll need to play him.
I would actually expect Klopp to bench Mane for this one. Go with someone slightly more defensive minded like the Ox

I think Liverpool were actually playing better but obviously City still took the lead and then Mane was sent off. But Liverpool were playing better 11v11

I think to be stand a chance against City you have to be ultra confident. They are ridiculously good this season. They've slipped up in basically two games, dropping 4 points.

If Liverpool take the game to them they stand a chance of getting something out the game. I like knowing Jesus is injured and can't come on at any point. I think that'll help us psychologically and maybe even unsettle Aguero (hoping he'll succumb to the pressure...)

We were holding our own and had 2/3 good chances to score before Aguero did. Then the red card changed everything. Can't play against a team as strong as that with a one man disadvantage! Don't think you can judge it on that game

Just about to grab a few hours of shuteye before the biggest game of the season. Before I do though, what do you think of these transfers? Current team:

                Lloris
                Alonso Ota Masuaku
                Salah Sterling Alli Anoutovic Lingard
                Kane Firmino
                Speroni Mee Quaner Hune

                Next GW save. Following GW:

Kane, Alli, Lloris to Aguero, Hazard, Pickford

                Good luck to everyone tonight!

Mahrez is fifth highest scorer in the game. He's pretty much got returns in the last 8/9 games in a row.

I think for that price you're getting a really good deal. I feel like he'll be able to keep it up too, regardless of fixtures - he's a quality player.

2 players left on average (3.6 in the Top 10k). This figure factors in a captain as 2 players, and TC as 3.

Best one week punt before WC?

Thinking Kenny > Bavies (bench Masuaku) or Haz > Lingard

                  Elliot (SWA) // Pope (cry

Azpi (LEI) Duffy (wba) Masuaku (hud) // Mariappa Kenny

Salah (MCI) Sterling (liv) Eriksen (EVE) Arnie (hud) Hazard (LEI)

Kane (EVE) Depoitre (WHU) // Hemed

                  Afternoon guys.

                  From GW24:
                  A) Xnsen, Sane, Mahrez
                  B) Alonso, KDB, Lingard

In A i would keep Xnsen on 23 and for -8 a could get triple City (Stones+sane+sterling) and onfire Mahrez.

B means a hit this week for Alonso (doubling with Xnsen) and Lingard. And another hit for Stones and KDB after Liv.

Mousa Dembele [hip and groin] has returned to full training and will be in contention. Danny Rose is being assessed to determine the extent of his knee problem. Toby Alderweireld [hamstring] won't be back until February. #COYS
