Dugout Discussion – Southampton vs Liverpool

Following Newcastle’s win over Man United, Sunday’s third and final fixture sees us take a trip to St Mary’s Stadium as Southampton and Liverpool square up at 4.30pm.

After Sergio Aguero’s four-goal demolition of Leicester and Harry Kane’s solitary strike against Arsenal, all eyes now turn to Mohamed Salah.

Up against a defence with a single clean sheet in their last 13 home fixtures, the Egyptian is the number one captain for Gameweek 27 with 22.1% armband backing.

The top scoring player in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Salah’s relentless consistency has delivered returns in 15 of his previous 17 league outings.

He’s also served up 11 sets of double-figure hauls, including a 16-point tally against Mauricio Pellegrino’s men back in Gameweek 12.

His team-mate Roberto Firmino could emerge as a differential captaincy candidate – just 3.3% of managers have backed the Brazilian, who has supplied 10+ points in three of his last five away starts.

Meanwhile, James Ward-Prowse has another chance to stake a claim as a budget midfield buy.

Up against a defence with three clean sheets on their travels, the Saints’ playmaker has three goals and two assists in the previous four rounds of fixtures.

Interest is clearly on the rise – at a price of 5.1, he was acquired by 78,000+ FPL managers ahead of yesterday morning’s deadline.

            Different analyses. The 8 point difference is for folks like me who own both, yet captained the lower scoring salah. Had I captained Aguero, I’d have 8 more total points between them, not 16.

        Kane + Sanchez + Aguero really ties up your funds. Think you have to decide on that first. Then I'd work up to gw31, but depends how you're approaching it (chips/hits/not)
