The Big Numbers – Gameweek 32

Next up, we take our post-Gameweek delve into the members’ data to assess some of the standout players across the previous round of fixtures.

With Double Gameweeks shaping our plans, Arsenal’s new goal hero, Chelsea’s recent lack of resilience and the form of Man City’s playmaker all come under analysis.

Burnley and Newcastle’s budget frontmen also catch the eye, while we also run the rule over a Fantasy slump for a Stamford Bridge big-hitter.

Kane hasn't the greatest fixtures in 34.
      Gross has terrible fixtures.
      Lingard big rotation risk.

What would be your England line up for World Cup?

    3-4-2-1

    Butland
    Stones Maguire Dier
    Walker Henderson Wilshere Rose
    Alli Sterling
    Kane

Henderson i know he's not the best technically but you need a bit of discipline especially against quality sides

Butland because he has more of a presence than Pickford (even though Pickford's better with his feet)

Wilshere the only decent playmaker we have... Needs to be fit imo

The rest speaks for itself, maybe Bring Lingard/Vardy on if we need more pace?

    Thoughts?

Looks about right. I think Pickford is the star of the future but Butland is a safer pair of hands.

Lingard and Alli are, IMO, completely interchangeable in Southgate's plans and I think Lingard will start as many games as Alli.

Nice to be able to bring Vardy off the bench against tired legs!

Yeah agreed. I hope Lallana can get fit and get some games in so we have another option... Love him. Shelvey?

He's the trendy pick but I think we should be wary of just sticking a player in and hoping that he'll 'get' the system. Southgate has done a good job of keeping actually quite a big pool of players playing together and learning each other's strengths and I think at this stage the team should be picked from the extended group - there's more than enough variety.

Think this is pretty spot on except I would definitely choose Pickford over Butland for his superior distribution. Alli/Lingard decision should be made on form- drop one of them back into midfield if Wilshere doesn't make it, or go with Ox.

      1. BIGREDDOG

Forgot Ox.. good points. Also forgot Ashley Young (thanks Prison Mike) instead of Rose who isnt playing much.

Yeh, I like that. We defo need someone like Wilshere, but only if he's fit.

Concerns with Rose's match fitness so maybe Young instead.

Maybe Stones out and bring back Walker, with Trippier on the wing. I just think Stones is a walking disaster. I don't care about his passing ability, he just makes me too nervous. Fully expect him to play though.

      Kane vardy

Anyone else considering taking a gamble and saying "Salahdios" and ditching Mo S this week on a WC?

if you eliminate the DGWs where he only has a SGW (34 and 37), are FHing 35 and could FT him in for 38, you are effectively only losing him as a captaincy option for GW33 (eve, where you wouldn't captain him anyway probably) and GW36 (STO).

Obviously GW36 looks mint, but which ever of the big guns you don't have you will miss out on plum fixtures for......

And no - I haven't been drinking (much anyway).

BTW gw36 is between ucl semi finals, so even then there is a chance for a rest if they go through.

It's like every week - some FPL teams do well and some do bad. Claiming victory for a whole strategy based on an individual's own team performance in one GW is a bit short-sighted.

I think we can all claim advantage all we like. I guess the best way to decide would be to look at your final OR compared with your OR at the end of GW31 (i.e. before either played their WCs)?

another reason to go for Kane over Lukaku for DGW34 - you don't have to waste another FT to get Kane in and instead you can focus on getting in eg. City, Arnie, Eriksen/Alli, Auba, Swansea enablers..

Cant see Ling paying off the -4 with Zaha having a plum fixture at home. Same with Mili.
A if you really have to, but do you think Hazard can out score Salah when he has my favourite home fixture of the season (as a Liverpool fan).

I think GW 34 is the one week where a gamble to bin Salah might pay off.

The majority will not be captaining him for 34 so even if he was to haul and bag a 13-15 pter it wouldn't be the end of the world even if Hazard only got 7-8 pts.

I think you've got a point about Zaha to Lingz for a -4. May just play Zaha and Mili v Brighton

Lloris Ryan (LLoris is .5m cheaper then De Gea and has decent fixtures till the end)

    Smalling Vertonghen Christensen Morgan Tarkowski

    Salah Mahrez Willian Lingard Milivojevic

    Kane Lukaku Barnes

    BB 34 - 13 DGWK players
    FH 35
    TC 37 - KANE

Such incredible value, penalty taker in a Zaha team. No double but great fixtures. Think he's staying on my wildcard too, at that price the list of alternatives is short - Gudmundsson the only real alternative?

    The Kane conundrum.

I’m capping Auba (forgive me my saints) and own Vardy. Stoke weren’t actually as bad as the scoreline suggested vs arsenal. I can afford to avoid Harry for a week right?

I’m capping Auba 33, selling him for Kane 34.

I’ve slept on the decision enough.

Exactly same here. I could do with another price rise from him before I let him go, so that I can make 0.4 ( 0.2 TV )ON him. It would make it a worthwhile short term punt then.

Needs must - I'm probably going without til 36. Auba is a great captaincy choice.

I'm seeing a lot of people free hitting out Salah in 34 when he's got the mother of all fixtures that week, Bournemouth at home. Can see him hitting 20+ that week. Probably be my captain.
What is the reasoning? Solely an extra game? Bournemouth at home could be 6 or 7.

mm fair point - I'm basing my decision on salah not going crazy (which could well backfire) and the majority of the FPL community not captaining him

GOt to ask yourself why you think he won’t go crazy. As said above, this is my favourite fixture, and that was before we had Salah.

B by a street (which is why that's what I have)

Son covers Kane far more effectively than Lingz covers Lukaku. And United have by far the better fixtures. Oh, and B has far less risk of rotation (Lingz) and rest ahead of a cup semi (Kane)

    Current squad.
    Ddg Ryan
    Alonso Mustafi Lowton Vertonghen Morgan
    Salah Willian Mahrez Son Groß
    Vardy Auba Barnes
    1.2itb

No transfer this week but I'm wondering what transfers in 34 (2ft)?

    1. Mustafi and Auba to Kane and Tarkowski.
    2. Same players to Kaku and 5.5 def.
    3. Willian and Auba to Kane and Lingard.
    4. Other.

Putting aside my benching headache for this week, I'm now turning my attention to playing with options for GW34 BB. Like any of these?

    A) Cost: -4pts £0itb
    DDG, Ryan
    Alonso, Vertonghen, Morgan, Mustafi, Lowton
    Son, Willian, Mahrez, Lingard, Gros
    Kane, Lukaku, Barnes

    B) Cost: -8pts £0.2itb
    DDG, Ryan
    Christensen, Vertonghen, Morgan, Mustafi, Lowton
    Salah, Willian, Mahrez, Lingard, Gros
    Kane, Lukaku, Barnes

    C) Cost: -8pts £0itb
    DDG, Ryan
    Christensen, Vertonghen, Morgan, Valencia, Lowton
    Salah, Son, Mahrez, Lingard, Gros
    Kane, Firmino, Barnes

    Thoughts?

I think it's a week where binning Salah may not be the worst move

He may still score or even haul but the majority will not be capping him so his propensity to do real damage is significantly reduced.

That's my opinion not the common consensus though.

Depends on FH or not. If I had my FH for gw35 I would get Christensen instead of Mustafi for bb 34. Think Mustafi edges it without FH though.

How about this to try shaking the WC template up a tad (not loads, the midfield template is hard to escape!)

    Lloris - Ryan
    Chilwell - Lowton - Tarkowski - Smalling - 6m
    Lingard - Mahrez - Salah - Son - Willian
    Kane(Lukaku for gw34) - Vardy - Barnes

That 6m defence slot is a question, though...

So I guess the consensus between the non-GW33 wildcarders is to get Kane for 36 or 24 if he goes mental vs Stoke.

The problem is, if he goes mental vs. Stoke you want him vs. Stoke, not vs City next week.

Kane has scored an average of 2 goals per game vs. Stoke. Stoke are the team with the worst defense in the league having conceded 61 goals. They concede on average 3.5 goals against top6 teams and Spurs are one of the more attacking top6 teams along with Pool and City, so I'm expecting 4 goals with Kane scoring 2-3 of those.

Am I missing something? Why isn't everyone rushing to get him?

Please, give me a reason not to screw up my team, TV and points (-4) to get him this week.

    1. Going Home
      • 12 Years
      6 years, 1 month ago

      My reasons

Because you lose the points from the player you ship out (Lukaku/Auba generally)
Because you lose the points from the player you use to raise funds (Son seems the popular choice, who could easily return well v Stoke)
Because Kane's DGW isn't quite as appealing as Lukaku's (as Lukaku doesn't have to play City in it)
Because Kane is more at risk of a rest ahead of a cup semi v major rivals with top four now sewn up (meaning he could even have a more difficult DGW than Auba's SGW)

I've explained that I'd love to have Kane, but don't see him as essential until GW36. You can't have them all and a returning Kane won't convince me to tear up what I already have

      1. Darklord_bg
        • 7 Years
        6 years, 1 month ago

Great arguments, though some of them do not apply to me (for example I plan to have both Kane and Lukaku for 34). Also Son is more of a rotation risk than Kane now that Kane is back. Lukaku has City next, so a 2-pointer is imminent.

I'll probably chicken out since I'm a dullard, but this weekend is shaping up to be one of the scaries in my FPL "career". It doesn't get more plum than Kane chasing the Golden Boot vs. Stoke.

        1. Going Home
          • 12 Years
          6 years, 1 month ago

Son has started every game bar one since GW14. Kane or no Kane, his rotation risk is limited
I'm also clinging to a bit of hope that City seemingly concede every week (noticed as an Otamendi owner!) and Lukaku returned in the last two "big games" he played

FWIW I think the real gun fixture this week is Auba at home to Saints. They are truly awful and he is on fire (not returning from injury or similar... 😉 )

Considering they don’t have any midweek fixtures between GW34-35 it should be the usual starters.

Although if they reach the UCL semi then they have a fixture in midweek 35. That will probably make atleast Jesus a safe choice?
