Captain Poll – Gameweek 37

Unsurprisingly, Double Gameweek 37 players dominate in our latest Captain Poll, which was launched earlier today to gauge your views on the best armband options.

Chief among these are Tottenham Hotspur assets, who travel to bottom side West Brom on Saturday followed by a home clash with Newcastle United three days later.

Voters will be keenly watching events at Wembley tonight when Mauricio Pochettino’s troops play the final fixture of Gameweek 36 at home to Watford.

Although Harry Kane (13.0) has struggled for form, with a single FPL goal in his last six appearances, across the campaign the Spurs striker has proved to be an explosive captaincy option.

Kane has delivered eight double-digit points hauls and should gain extra motivation from his mission to overturn Mohamed Salah’s five-goal advantage in the Golden Boot race.

With six scores above 10 points Son Heung-min (8.3) is unlikely to be overlooked, particularly for the Magpies clash. The South Korean has served up nine goals and five assists in home matches.

Christian Eriksen (9.6)’s four double-digit returns makes him a less explosive option than Kane or Son. However, the Dane’s recent consistency may sway some opinion, with at least a goal or assist in four of his last five run outs, including a 15-point haul away to Stoke in Gameweek 33.

Three goals and as many assists over his last five league matches make Dele Alli (9.0) another in-form Spurs asset to consider.

The North Londoners won’t have it easy, though. Since Darren Moore took charge in early April, the Baggies are unbeaten, including a victory over Manchester United and a draw with Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Newcastle’s backline has proved miserly over their last six outings, conceding just four times, with only Liverpool shipping less (three).

Even with the league title wrapped up Manchester City’s stars are refusing to take their foot off the gas with nine goals in their last two matches as champions.

This fine recent form, as well as two favourable home ties against Huddersfield and Brighton, is already seeing considerable interest in their assets.

The Terriers have been particularly poor on the road over the season with their last clean sheet way back in Gameweek 6. Brighton have been similarly obliging, with just one shut-out in six road trips, shipping nine goals along the way.

Gabriel Jesus (10.3) is in excellent form with four goals and three assists over his last five starts. Already this week he is the most acquired player with more than 33,000 transfers in.

With 30,000+ new owners, Raheem Sterling (9.0) is the most popular midfield target and has been similarly impressive, claiming double-digit hauls in all three of his last league matches, including a hat-trick of assists in the 4-1 victory over West Ham on Sunday.

Leroy Sane (8.6)’s strike against the Hammers, his tenth of the campaign, may also garner interest and Kevin De Bruyne (10.3)’s home form should also see him earn attention. On home turf, the Belgian has supplied a high league-high number of assists (14) and chances created (62) and has also found the net five times.

Manchester United’s Paul Pogba (7.9) and Alexis Sanchez (11.5) put forward a strong case for consideration in their 2-1 home defeat of Arsenal on Sunday. The Frenchman’s goal was his sixth of the campaign and third in the last four matches. Meanwhile, Sanchez’s assist against his former employers was his fourth in as many starts, over which time he has also scored once and earned two scores of 10 points or more.

During Gameweek 37 the Red Devils travel to a Brighton side without a home clean sheet in 2018 and also drop by West Ham, who have shipped eight over their last four London Stadium matches.

Chelsea’s home tie with Huddersfield next Wednesday looks the more favourable of their encounters, arriving three days after they entertain Liverpool.

Blues assets put forward for consideration include Eden Hazard (10.5), with a goal and assist over his last two starts. Their striker Olivier Giroud (8.2) is another, given he scored a brace off the bench against Southampton in Gameweek 34.

Mohamed Salah (10.6) may only have one fixture but, with 14 double-digit hauls, the PFA Player of the Year could still generate interest.

Among the differential options is Jordan Ayew (5.3), ahead of Swansea’s must-win games against Bournemouth away and Southampton at the Liberty Stadium. Between them, the two south coast sides have shipped 16 times over their last four run outs. Meanwhile, Ayew has been involved in more than a third (36%) of all his side’s goals this season.

The poll is now live in the middle column on your homepage on desktop, or via the slide-in menu on mobile and tablet under recent comments.

Remember, we are looking for your vote for the player you think will be most effective, regardless of whether you own them or not.

We will be back to check in on progress in the poll later ahead of the Gameweek 37 deadline when we deliver our “Captain Sensible” article offering an analysis of the results and the statistics behind the leading contenders.

Maguire (and Leicester in general) doing my head in right now. Would you take a hit for any defender (any price point) right now to shift Maguire for the double? If so...who do you think might just make this move worthy?

    Maguire > ???.

    Thanks.

Danilo is the best one if Walker is out.

Then maybe Vertonghen but I like the look of Alfie Mawson

      Thoughts?

      A) Gross to arnie (-8)
      And
      B) Morgan to mawson (-12)

Or just A and play Morgan 😐

Could go for both as both improvements and hope it pays off. But as a gross owner i hope he surprises everyone with his two awful fixtures.

      Using BB this week -

      Ederson - McCarthy
      Davies - Hegazi - Chilwell - Tark - Bauer
      Pogba - Salah - Sterling - Mil - Son
      Kane - Jesus - Wilson

      0FT, 0.4 spare

Want to get rid of Wilson, and maybe a defender.

      Wilson & Hegazi/Tark -> JAyew & Mawson?

      Will Lindelof keep playing?

Bringing in JAyew and Mawson looks good move. I'd move out tark over hegazi. Swansea will need to step up to make it worth a -8 though.

Anyone help me out with this one below? Bench Boost vs Triple Captain

Top of my league by 7 points.. money on the line.. I have just played my wildcard this Double Game Week and now have the option to play either play a Double Game Week Bench Boost or Triple Captain..

I can't see a clear strategy yet but for me it really boils down this:

      A. Decide to play "Bench Boost" and have a decent Bench Line up loaded up with Southampton, and Swansea players (probably get a minimum of 4 pts each with a lucky goal or clean sheet in there: 4 players x 4 pts + 4 pts clean sheet / goal = ~ 20pts)

      B. Decide to play "Triple Captain" which essentially means I get one extra player for that Double Game Week. The likely player would be: Kane who I expect would be, lets say he's likely to get 2 - 4 goals and say 3 bonus pts: 4 pts + (2 goals or 4 goals) x 4 pts + 3 bonus = 19 pts - 24 pts (this is the difference to if we had just captained him)

Now Kane could score 1 or he could score 5. I probably leaning towards him scoring less, and therefore leaning toward using the bench boost to its maximum as I also consider it more of a sure thing,

Would really appreciate anyone options, or what people are doing if faced with the same dilemma,

      Cheers

You can't play another chip in the same week that you Wildcard.

      2. MTPockets
          6 years, 3 days ago

That's awkward. I'd probably go BB just because you have the picks and southampton pay mci gw38.

Oh as above ^ if you've just played wc then neither an option.

A lot played their WC in GW32, in preparation for BGW, DGW's and their final chips. As did I.

Wondering how people have fared so far?

I was lying 116k after GW32, and currently I am 62k. Hardly a meteoric rise.

I regret playing my WC back then. A lot has changed and now my team is looking very weak for this double gameweek.. My ranking has just hovered around the 20k mark, no real change.

What do people think of these transfers?

          Mahrez, Salah, Mustafi, Grob

          ---->

          Sterling, Jesus, Tadic, Dummels

(Would still have Kane and Auba upfront)

I obv want to keep Salah but i feel it's worth getting rid in order to bring in Sterling and Jesus.

                  Yeah that's what I'm thinking.

Mustafi, Mahrez and Grob all absolutely have to go.

The fact Man City are trying to now set a record makes me even more nervous.

Is it Vardy instead of Mahrez as I can't see how else you're getting Jesus from losing three mids and a defender, either way I think taking a -12 is too much especially since you're taking out three DGW players + Salah just to bring in 4 DGW players.

Maybe a swans defender, if they get one clean sheet out of 2, they should get 8 points, compared to Tarkowski who will most likely get 2. So i guess that sort of justifies the -4 hit but won't be a massive gain!

And if he scores 11 goals tonight then Salah probably wont play vs Chelsea

            Bailly + Lukaku + Murray ➡ Laporte + Kane (TC) + JAyew for (-8) ?

            A or B?

            A. Mahrez & Vardy > Arnautovic and Jesus (for -4)

            B. Mahrez, Vardy & Gross > Sane, Jesus & Kenedy (for -8)?

I had the same conundrum on WC last week except Kennedy was a 4.3 mid. I backed Arnie and Gross.

Not expecting much form Gross but was hoping Arnie could match Sane over DGW with potential man city rotation.

I rarely do RMTs, but what the hell.

            Lloris (McCarthy)
            Smalling Morgan Christensen (Dunk Lowton)
            Salah Sterling Son Lingard (Cook)
            Jesus Kane Austin

1 FT, 1.1 ITB, TC chip left

            Just 2 Man City

            a) hold transfer and have 2 for GW38
            b) Do the Salah cokey-hokey and do him to Sane/KDB with the plan to swap back next week
            c) Salah to Arnie GW37 which could fund Lingard to Salah GW38
            d) Lingard to Arnie
            e) Christensen for a Man City defender (and who?)

            Thoughts?

              BB for me in 37......

What have we all still got to play ?

Anyone else still got their BB or TC to play? Or just a standard DGW?

Will be interesting to see if I can top some of the scores from my ML in DGW34.

              I'll be delighted with 100+

TC for me. Hoping for 80+ with 11 DGW players.

Have 14 DGW players. Not convinced the extra -4 is worth it unless I can find a 4.6 Def with a DGW that will far outscore Lowton.
