Dugout Discussion – Wednesday

Gameweek 37 rolls on with four midweek fixtures of huge significance to Fantasy managers.

The two most captained and Triple Captained players are in action and both start.

Harry Kane heads into tonight’s contest off the back of another disappointing performance and a two-point return at The Hawthorns. He still carries the hopes of over a million managers who trusted him with the armband, with over 190,000 activating the Triple Captain chip on the Spurs striker.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Jesus is the other key man on show as champions Manchester City host Brighton and bid to shake off the malaise of Sunday’s 0-0 stalemate with Huddersfield Town.

Jesus has the backing of 277,000+ captaincies, with 75,000 of those using the Triple Captain chip on the Brazilian.

While that pair claim starts, the second most signed player for Gameweek 37 – Raheem Sterling – is missing as Pep Guardiola makes eight changes tonight.

The winger is excluded from Man City’s squad which will come as devastating news for the 264,000 who handed him the armband and, in particular, for the 69,000 managers who will now be resigned to just three points from their Triple Captain.

Elsewhere tonight, a much-changed Chelsea face Huddersfield at Stamford Bridge knowing that, should they fail to claim three points, the Blues they would surely have to surrender their bid for a top-four spot.

Meanwhile, Arsenal make the trip to a beleaguered Leicester City as they look to build on Sunday’s superb 5-0 victory over Burnley. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the key asset for the Gunners – he is already the most signed player after his 16-points against the Clarets made him Gameweek 37’s top scorer so far.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

What’s the general consensus on Chelsea and Liverpool likely line-ups at the weekend? Full strength and then take people off if/when comfortable? Or are the big boys at risk of being rested?

Not sure for Chelsea but I expect a strong line up from Liverpool. Maybe big guns subbed after an hour

Would have to check in with Anfield Express for that. I'd say Salah merits a start to get the Pool season scoring record or whatever he has left to get.

Ridiculously there is still only 1 point between me and my rival this season!

For 38 it will boil down to

Him: Moses, Ederson, Tadic, Willian, Son and Perez
Me: VVD, Long, Pogba, Salah, Zaha and Jordan Ayew

Who is going to win out of the 2 teams?

Brilliant - frankly if he plays he'd get a point or two anyway, but I just can't see it. Fans don't like him, he probably costs more appearance fee wise (tight chairmen) and he'll be planning for which Chinese club might pick him up on previous reputation 🙂

can I overturn a gap of 30 points? I'm getting salah(c) in this week, if I were him I'd do the same and if he were to i'd expect the differentials to be:

me: ddg, davies, smalling, long, sane, son, jayew

    vs

him: pickford, vertonghen, Tomkins, mustafi, arnie, ramsey, gundogan

I'm going to have some bloody amazing luck right? basically all the top players to outscore the lowers by 4pts apiece!

    1. Dave Bauer
      • 14 Years

Don’t get Salah if that’s what he’s going to do. 30 points needs some big balls.

Bring in someone different and captain them. Good luck...

you're right, I'm watching his bank balance and gw transfers, should be able to work out roughly what he's done. if he has likely got salah may look to bring in zaha for kenedy instead and keep mahrez

should say I'm banking on a return to cut the gap down to just below 30, if I don't get it probably looking around 36 points. I may as well go for it as my rank is about 59k and I'm not too bothered if I finish there, just under 50 or 75k

thank you huddersfield for taking the pressure off liverpool . think this will allow salah and co to play with a bit of freedom now. if chelsea had won last night and taken an early lead against newcastle on Sunday the crowd would have gotten anxious fast. That would have really affected the team , as it so often does when things aren't going their way

We will do the same next season. The doubles with a BB are too tempting. You need to have cheap fillers in there to get the big hitters. Another time those players could have come off for you.
