Sky Sports Focus

Our Saturday schedule continues with the weekly Sky Sports Focus article where we take a look back at the weekend action before preparing you for the final Gameweek of the season.

We’ll examine the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries, transfer trends and Watchlist, before moving on to the Scout team and our future plans.

Gameweek 39 Man of the Match Awards

These were the players who caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters and earned an extra five points as a result.

FixtureMoTM
Brighton vs Man UnitedAnthony Knockaert
Stoke vs Crystal PalaceWilfried Zaha
West Brom vs TottenhamCraig Dawson
Watford vs NewcastleRoberto Pereyra

West Ham vs Man UnitedMark Noble

Eden Hazard (8.1%), Leroy Sane (7.7%), Hugo Lloris (7.3%) and Aaron Mooy (6%) were the only players with over five percent ownership to pick up the award over the Double Gameweek.

However, Wilfried Zaha, Marko Arnautovic and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sit just below five percent and are well owned amongst the top 1,000 managers, so will have been the cause of major rank swings.

A special mention to Alex McCarthy – popular target in the February overhaul due to his cheap price – who up until now had largely failed to offer value.

He churned out 14 points in the Tuesday night match against Swansea City and will have been captained by many of his owners. That was another event to spark a major change in the rankings.

Gameweek 39 Bonus Points

Let’s take a look at any player to earn 50 points or more in bonus for the season

Notes

When I needed them the most, my team let me down. A drop of 150 places in the penultimate Gameweek was certainly not ideal.

The dream of a top 100 finish now looks firmly out of reach, mainly due to a series of captain fails.

Alexis Sanchez failed to feature on Friday, leaving me with no skipper, Harry Kane then did his best Roberto Soldado impression before Raheem Sterling and Man City failed to score at home for the first time in the league this season.

The theme continued with Mike van der Hoorn missing out against Southampton, again leaving me without a captain until finally, Kane picked up one goal on the Wednesday for my first captaincy points.

I then went into Thursday’s game with high hopes after Sanchez started up front, giving me the perfect explosive differential. We all know how that went.

It was a truly disheartening sequence of events just as I was on the cusp of my target for the season.

With little left to play for now, I will likely opt for a differential captain on the final day in the hope of a miracle.

Thankfully, we get to see the teamsheets, which will have a big say on where I hand out the armband. As it stands, the in-form Wilfried Zaha will be my final roll of the dice.

Wish me luck, guys, and thanks for tolerating my ramblings during the season. Here’s to the next one.

Afternoon! Can I catch my rival? 17 points behind.

    My team:

    Hennessey*
    Lowton* | Cresswell* | Naughton*
    Salah* | Arnie* | Son** | Sterling
    Vardy* | Kane | Jesus

    DDG*** | Milivojevic | Long* | Lowton

    *Differential
**Son a differential but a supposed risk
***Both own DDG and is a risk

    His team:

    DDG*** | Ryan
    Davies | Maguire | Smalling* | Baines | Tomkins
    DSilva* | Willian* | Lingard* | Sterling | Milivojevic
    Kane | Jesus | Ayew

    *Risks to play
*** Both own DDG and is a risk

Rival has 1FT, 0.3ITB. He will have to take at least a 4 point hit to get Salah in.

I've made my FT with Hazard to Salah.

All chips used for both of us.

Appreciate your thoughts! Can I do it?

If he takes a hit and puts him in I presume so. But part of me thinks he won't as he won't want to sacrifice 4 points and bring it down to 13.

          Think you have 2 options:

          1) If you know who he might captain then captaining a different player could easily mean you overtake his team. e.g He doesn't have Salah - if Salah hauls and you captain him then that could do easily do it.

          2) Take a hit and risk it - maybe look to get a possible explosive option in Arnie or Zaha.

I was looking to do Son & Lingard > Arnie & Zaha but now considering Son > Arnie/Zaha and either Barnes > Vokes/other or get a playing def in with attacking potential like PVA. Likely going to hold back and possibly just do that first one for 4 and go with your captaincy tip. Thanks for the advice and best of luck with your GW38.

No worries. You too. The Son move is a difficult one because if he does play he could score well. Arnie/Zaha more secure to start though and in better form and out of position up front.

I captained Salah like you said, unfortunately my rival took a -4 to get him in and did as well. I took an -8 and did Son, Lingard and Chilwell to Arnie, Zaha and Robertson. The risk paid off because I'm pretty sure I've done it.

I'm one point ahead in my ML, my team:

    DDG (Ryan)
    Alonso Davies Lowton (Cedric, Morgan)
    Sane Salah Sterling Lingard King
    Kane Jesus (Barnes)

    Rivals team:

    DDG (Fabianski)
    Bertrand Morgan Laporte (Dummett, Bednarek)
    DSilva Salah Young Son (Dier)
    Vardy Jesus Kane

Any suggestions for my transfer? Have 0.3 ITB. Think the only player i'm possibly worried about from his side is Son as think he's the only one that I don't have that could score big. Quite fancy getting in Arnie or Zaha though.

I would prob try and avoid a hit and play it a bit safer. Barnes to ayew as lingard prob won’t play. If happy to take a hit then lingard Cedric to arnie/Zaha and cheap def looks good

Thanks, yeah not keen to take a hit but have issue with Barnes and Lingard. Other free transfer option I have is Cedric to Robertson and play 442, play lingard and have King first sub.

That’s a nice move as well. Cedric to Robbo or pva looks good

Would take a hit to get Arnie or Zaha for Lingard. Therefore like suggested above I like Barnes to Ayew.
Wouldn't want to take a hit with only a point lead!

Thanks. Don't have enough ITB to do Lingard and Barnes to Arnie/Zaha and Ayew. Could do a Barnes to Ayew straight swap though and not hit if thats what you meant?

Not IMO. Keeper is unlikely to score more than 6 points. So if Utd keep a clean sheet all that does is break even. Im going to play Ryan and hope for some save points.

Is there much of a risk that Mert starts ahead of Mustafi? Final game for Arsenal, good pals with wenger etc

    Only 1 FT this week instead of the planned two due to the Chilwell injury post-wildcard! So who to trade;

    Maguire>PvA
    Kenedy>5.0m
    Silva>Zaha

    DDG/McCarthy
    Vertonghen Maguire Ogbonna
    Salah(vc) Silva Sterling Lingard
    Kane(c) Ayew Jesus

    Kenedy VDH Dummett

I have not slept well last night guys thinking about my lineup. My rival is only 2 points behind me and has TC left to play.
Is my team safe enough like this or should I take a hit or two to cover myself? I already brought in Zaha for Pogba last night before price rise.

    Ryan
    Robertson, Lowton, Vertonghen
    Carroll, Salah, Sterling, Son, Zaha*
    Jesus, Kane

    Bench: DeGea, Smalling, Chilwell, Barnes
    1.0m ITB

    Rival has :

    Fabianski
    Azpicilueta, yedlin, vertonghen, Mustafi, Creswell
    Kenedy, Arnie, Carroll, Ritchie, Iwobi
    Aubamayeng, Jesus, Kane

He might well TC Kane or Auba but has no Salah until now with 1.9m ITB

Any help or tips I should do would be appreciated once again.

    Best option from this lot?

    A. Son + Willian > Salah(c) + Gudmundsson -4
    B. Willian + Ramsey + DDG > Salah(c) + Gudmundsson + Romero -8
    C. Willian > Zaha and no Salah(c).

38 point lead, rival on -4 for the week.

Willian > Arnie -4 (rival has Arnie) worth it?

Definitely if you are 38 points ahead. Covers any arnie haul.
