Best set-pieces and penalty takers for World Cup Fantasy semi-finals

We are down to just four teams left at the World Cup, with set-pieces and penalties still expected to have a big impact on the outcome of the remaining matches.

Once again, we’ve pulled together all the relevant data so Fantasy Football Scout members can work out which nations are the best to invest in for the semi-finals and final.

It still looks like England are the most likely to score from set-piece situations in the last-four, while France could get some joy against Belgium.

READ NEXT: Our transfer tips and stats for the World Cup Fantasy semi-finals

Our research includes the penalty and corner-takers for each country, based on who has taken them either in Russia or, in some cases, in qualification. If there is no number next to a player’s name it’s because they took at least one in qualifying and/or warm-up games but are yet to take one at the World Cup itself.

We’ve also calculated which teams concede the most fouls and attempts from set-plays too to help you work out which nations are the most likely to get set-pieces in the first place.

To clarify, the ‘Attempts from set plays’ section combines those who have shot from direct free-kicks or those who have latched onto the end of a corner.

The deadline for Gameround 6 is at 19:00 BST on Tuesday July 10, so make sure you sort your team in time.

Suspect they’ll sign Mitrovic before the season starts, Kamara may get starts on the right of a three but they should be looking to strengthen there too.

All of the below can be done with 5 free transfers. Question is, do I transfer out Hazard for Griezmann (B)?

    Pickford, ???
    Hernandez, Pavard, Tripp, Maguire, ???
    Modric, Lingard, ???, ???, ???
    Kane, Mbappe, ???

    A) Lloris, Tolisso, Fellaini, Chadli, Hazard, (Meunier)

    B) Lloris, Tolisso, KdB, (Inui), Griezmann, (Meunier)

    C) Lloris, Pogba, Fellaini, (Inui), Hazard, (Meunier)

    D) Courtois, Pogba, Tolisso, (Inui), Hazard, Vertonghen

Today in local Croatian sport newspaper they gave 70% for Suba to start. 50% for Lovren and 10% for Vrsaljko.

Thing is, Croatia is keeping in secret fitness level of their players, we wont know who starts for sure 1 hour before game.

Playing a local game and have 4 FTs.

Thoughts on Ndidi + Marcelo + Coutinho + Golovin --> De Bruyne + Hazard + Sterling + Trippier

    That would give me:

    Lukaku - Griezmann - Kane
De Bruyne - Hazard - Sterling - Perisic
    Hernandez - Trippier - Vida
    Pickford

    Meunier, X, X, X

Your thoughts please! I am in big need to good differentials.

Guys, Im first in my mini league, 30k overall

What do you think about my team for the semis:

    Courtois, Subasic
    Vertonghen, Trippier, Kompany, Lovren, Meunier
    Pogba, Modric, KDB, Lingard, -
    Rebic, Mbappe, Lukaku

Maximum captain played, do you think was it better to play it now or wait for the finals?

They’re probably gonna be tight games whereas the play off might have a few more goals in it so it seems a fair decision, nice team.

Probably yes, if you're wanting to give the armband to a defender then choose from Varane or Maguire, these two are the tallest defenders and have the highest probability of scoring a goal from set pieces or corners.

Fellani is probably more likely to score, but he's also more likely to get booked also.
ChadlI, I feel offers very little...in fantasy terms.

It's similar to that of Zaha & Mane. Better than Aurnatovic.

    RMT

    McCarthy 4.0

    Mendy Coleman Baines Cedric 4.0

    Salah Mane Sane Silva Walcott

    Firmino 5.0 4.5

    4-5-1

3 Liverpool attacker’s as they have great fixtures and I expect them to start fast

3 City - Similarly good fixtures and like the chances of those 3

You are a braver player then me going for a 4-5-1!

that's not a negative, it could work out I'm sure just looks strange for me.

Too many eggs in one basket...double Southampton defence, and double Everton defence...and triple Liverpool attack, I know Liverpool are good going forward, but I'd want some diversity.

Mané is not worth 9.5 and should have dropped 0.5 from last season tbh. A bench of two sub 5.5 forwards is really not ideal. If you're playing 4 at the back you need at least one mid on the bench too for some chance of points, especially with 3 City players. Also, Everton are looking to replace Baines.

Did McCarthy just become dead as an option?

Man City keeper Angus Gunn is close to joining Southampton, according to Sky sources. We are told a deal worth £13.5m has been agreed - £10m plus £3.5m in add-ons.

Bilva was a lot more involved last year than people realise, check his game count in CL and PL. Pep was clearly easing him into the team, much like he did with Sané in 16/17, and I expect we'll see a lot more of him this season what wuth Peps comments about David Silva getting older.

Yet another member of the all important 6.5 - 7.5 midfielder brigade:

Bilva, Siggy, Martial, Ramsey, Mkhi, Lingard, Theo, Mili - you could make a very viable 5 man midfield from those. Best to keep at least one 7.5 mid slot warm this year!

Pep said that his minutes would have to managed more carefully as he'll be turning 33 this season so I expect he'll be more prone to rotation (along with just about every other City player). Having said that he's in my team.
