Spencer’s RMT

Fabianski – Bettinelli

Mendy – Robertson – Luiz – Boly – Tomkins

Salah – Mahrez – Pedro – Deulofeu – Stephens

Aguero – Arnautovic – Zaha

Goalkeepers

  • 9.0 on goalkeepers.  Fabianski with FPL pedigree.  Unsure on Bettinelli, but rotation with Fabianski looks good.
  • First 10 games: CRY – BOU – BUR – WLV – eve – WAT – eve – bha – cda – BOU

Defence

  • Mendy/Robertson/Luiz/Boly/Tomkins
  • Most I’ve spent in defence from the start – I normally play just one big hitter and 4 rotating cheapies.
  • All defenders with potential for attacking points.
  • Mendy a risk worth taking, looked brilliant before his injury.
  • Luiz a risk, so will keep a close eye on the Community Shield.
  • Tomkins looks to be the best 4.5 for me.

Midfielders

  • Got to start with Salah.  Can always downgrade.
  • Mahrez was brilliant at Leicester.  Playing with better players at Man City, I can only see him getting better.  Another one to look out for in the Community Shield.
  • Pedro is a risk, but if he’s nailed he will get attacking points.
  • Watford fixtures look favourable.  Deulofeu looked grerat when on loan from Barcelona last season.
  • Stephens is my 4.5 bench player.

Forwards

  • Aguero is world class.  Possibly some doubts on whether he starts or not.  Keeping an eye on the Community shield.  Will swap to Aubameyang if there are doubts.
  • Arnautovic ended last season in spectacular fashion and this has continued into pre-season.  Made the mistake of not getting him in last time around.
  • Zaha also reclassified as a forward this season.  Does this mean more bonus points?  Doubts over who his strike partner will be at Crystal palace, but I see him returning points regardless. Will need to reconsider if he moves.

1.0 itb to use in an emergency.  eg upgrade Mahrez to Mane, or Deulofeu to Doucoure.

Conclusion

The Key here is flexibility.  Setting price brackets for positions and then finding the right players to fit in.  eg I don’t know if Pedro is the right 6.5 to have, but can easily switch to Jota, Richarlison, or whoever else.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Where have I gone wrong, and where have I gone right? What do you suggest I change?

What's the deal with people going for Luiz? There seems to be plenty of competition at CB for Chelsea and do we know if they'll play 3 or 4 at the back?

    Gents, RMT:

    GK: Alisson
DEF: Shaw, Robertson & Castro (punt)
MID: Salah, Sanchez, Richarlison & Jota
    FWD: Augero, Arnie & Zaha

    Bench:
    Hamer (bench fodder)
    Hudson-Odoi (punt)
Mee (for GW1 I'm punting on Castro with Mee as backup)
    Wan-Bissaka

Not keen on Shaw or Sanchez (!). Quality is there with both but Mourinho has not got the best out of either. Id go Mata with money to upgrade to pogo when looking to return.

Not a bad team, although if that is the crystal palace Ward I don't think he will start. Watch out for Bailly. Lamela may not be nailed as he is competing with Moura.

        Sorry, its Ward in Burnley.
        Ill consider to swap Lamela...
Want Man U defender. Downgrade bailly and go for De Gea maybe?

        Okey.
I would really like a Burnley defender due to easy fixtures before the national break.
        Tarkowski,
        Mee or
        Lowton instead?

    Ederson (Boruc)
    Mendy Robertson PVA (W-B Daniels)
    Neves Cairney Salah Sane (Gunnarrson)
    Firm Arnie Auba

Mendy nailed? Will shoehorn in some Spurs coverage when all players are back. Pretty happy with this now though. Feel free to rip it apart though!!

pretty weak MF with 3 players below 6,5 ... and Daniels might become a problem in a few gws
maybe downgrade pva to Tomkins and upgrade in MF ... Daniels to another 4,5 (Dunk/Duffy maybe)

First attempt at my team this year, just wondering what people think:

    De Gea
    Alonso Sanchez Tarkowski
    Sane Eriksen Neves Gross
    Aubameyang Jesus Zaha

    Stekelenburg Ogbonna Wan-Bissaka Gunnarsson

No need to mention my lack of Liverpool players, I support Liverpool so like any sensible and rational football fan I won't be putting in players from the team I support

      That's.... Brave?

Jesus a big risk, Aguero I'd imagine is more likely to play, but both could be rotated to death.

Alonso could be much less attacking this year, Sanchez is an interesting shout but probably better alternatives around.

Arnie instead of Zaha for me.

I'd really rethink the no Liverpool thing! 🙂

It's not worth it. Mendy, Robertson, Bailly, Luiz and Sorloth would outscore Firmino, Tomkins, Taa, Pelt and Schelotto. Not sure if that's affordable but you get my drift.

I have this team called 'Salahless catastrophe' and now I'm gonna share it with u guys!

    Ederson | 4.0
    David Luiz | Bailly | Cedric | Wan-Bissaka | Peltier
    Sanchez | Eriksen | Mane | Richarlison | Ward
    Aguero | Morata | Austin

    With 0.5m in the bank.

Reasoning behind not getting Salah is that I trust Sanchez and Aguero to be good captain options. If Aguero starts to rotate too much it gets tricky but then I can save this whole circus with an International break WC.

    Thoughts?

looks good however you could redistribute your funds a little depending on which formation you want to play. Atm it looks like you can shift between a 4 - 3 - 3 and a 3 - 4 - 3, pick one and back it

    Ryan/Hennessey
    mendy/tomkins/bailly/peltier/lowton
    mane/sane/eriksen/sanchez/richarlison
    zaha/tosun/king

I only have sane and sanchez for first couple GWs till hazard and KDB return.

    Your thoughts, please?

    1. Danstoke82

Don't think Ryan and BHA are solid enough to be your only keeper. Peltier --> Wan B for me, and Arnie for whichever 7m striker you like the least

Tosun hasn't looked great preseason and Zaha in a transfer fiasco

Think you need one big hitter upfront like Aguero or Aubameyang that will allow you to swap them if needed. Tosun is an unknown quantity and I’m not sure King is consistent enough

            • 9 Years

Yeah true. I do need a big hitter. But i was trying that out in the midfield instead.

You have too many big hitters in midfield. With a 11m forward, you can bring in any form player in that bracket with just a single transfer. With every premium options in midfield on the other hand, a move like that would require two transfers.

          2. Jayblue

Yes he is but I’m seeing how it goes for the first 2 GWs and monitoring Aubameyang ready for the swap in GW3 or maybe bringing in Kane once he has a few games under his belt and obvs getting August out of the way

    3. The UnderAcheivers

4.5 defs is look at nailed players like Tomkins, Dunk or Duffy. Won’t set the world alight but you know they are nailed and the two Brighton guys are decent for the odd clean sheet and BAPs

    Patricio | 4.0m
    Robertson | Mendy | Pereira | Tomkins | Doherty
    Salah | Mané | Eriksen | Mahrez | Cairney
    King | Wood | Zaha

    Goalkeeper
    - I could never get the rotation correct in previous years. So, a single goalkeeper this time. Expecting 140 points over the season.

    Defenders
    - Possible attacking returns from Robertson, Mendy and Pereira.
    - Mendy is a doubt, but I have solid bench players.

    Midfielders
    - The money is here.

    Forwards
    - I preferred Mané over Firmino
    - I don't want the headache of rotation with Agüero.
    - Aubameyang. I believe the heavy midfield / defence combination will score more points than Aubameyang + cheaper mids. The spread of money is crucial here. Also, I am not going to captain him. So, I am going "No Auba".

Sound logic. Is there a reason for Zaha over, say, Arnie? I know he's not to some peoples taste, just he's my top pick at 7 😆

Keep an eye on Wood as his potential knock, I haven't heard enough about it to comment

        Zaha/Arnie - fixtures, I presume.

Wouldn't risk starting the season with no premium forward.

Having a balanced squad allowing simle swaps of form players in different price brackets I think is crucial if you want to save the WC untill first int break.

Personal preference. I understand your logic. But I will start without Auba.

However, I don't need a wildcard for Aubameyang, if he really starts banging in goals. I can do:
        A. Mané + Zaha --> Aubameyang + 5.5m
        B. Salah + Zaha --> Aubameyang + 9.0m

    Ryan

    Van Aanholt / Cedric/ Robertson

    Pedro/ Salah/ Sanchez/ Milovojevic

    Arni/ Kun/ Zaha

    Bench:
    Fabianski/ Hudson-Odoi/ Rice/ Malone

    .5 in bank

    How does this look?

    Fabianski* (stekelenburg)
    Robertson, Bailly, Boly, (Bernardo, wan-Bissaka)
    Salah, Mane, Jota, Richarlison, Hughes
    Aguero, Aubamayang (Kamara)

    £0 itb.

I’ve read on some posts that fabianski is rotation risk. Personally I’m not convinced by that and if it is a risk then I can swap with, say, Foster or another £4.5m. Determined to try £4.5m set and forget keeper for the first time (for better or for worse)

Defence is light and I’m not sure mili is worth the outlay this season considering most of his points come from the odd penalty now and then.

I’m not sure who Jonny is. I’d get a playing 4.5 def in there like Tomkins or Dunk. Stephens is ok as a sub midfielder. Maybe downgrade Firmino to Arnautovic and use the additional funds to bolster that defence.

I've finally had a settled team for >48 hours
Community Shield and rest of the transfer window pending, what do people think of this?
    £0ITB
    Patricio, 4.0
Robertson, Mendy, Bailly, Wan Bissaka, Peltier
    Salah, Sanchez, Richarlison, Jota, Stephens
    Auba, Arnie, Zaha

Planning to do Sanchez to KdB when he returns unless Sanchez is on fire

Sanchez is a really big risk, given that Man United are not an attacking side !

Have made changes to my long standing team aftee advice here.

    Have gone from:
    4.5/4.5
    6.5, 6, 5.5/5, (4.5)
    9.5, 9, 7.5, 6.5, (5)
    11, 7, 7
    with 1m itb
    To:
    4.5/4.5
    6, 6, 5.5, (4.5, 4)
    9.5, 9.5, 9, 7.5, (5)
    11, 7, 6.5
    with 0 itb

Does this look a better structure. Happier with the extra big hitter in midfield.
    Team I'm sitting on is:

    Thoughts on this team.

    Foster/Fabs
    Mendy, Robertson, Digne, (Wan-Bissaka/Connolly)
D Silva, Salah, Willian, Richarlison, (Ralls)
    King, Aguero, Zaha

    1m ITB

    Is Foster nailed?
Digne in his last season at Roma had 3 goals 3 assist over 32 games - so a threat there. Could switch him to Luiz/Coleman.

    Bailly Rudiger VVD
    Salah Mane Jota Richarlison
    Aguero Arnautovic Austin

Subs; Stekelenberg Tomkins Cairney Wan Bissaka

Know midfield is a bit light but fancy Jota has a punt this season
