Why Mark has played his FPL Wildcard for Gameweek 3

We can reveal that Mark Sutherns has played his Wildcard for Gameweek 3 of the 2018/19 Fantasy Premier League season.

Joe spoke to him in the latest episode of ScoutCast Extra Time on Friday afternoon to find out his reasons for hitting the button and making a raft of changes.

Mark explained that a lot of his decision revolved around how volatile the transfer market has been since Sergio Aguero‘s (£11.2m) hat-trick in Gameweek 2.

With managers all over the world chopping and changing Mark was faced with a situation where several of his original assets were facing price falls, and those he wanted to replace them with were going in the opposite direction.

Joe made the case for sticking with Mark’s original Gameweek 2 team but it will definitely be an all-new line-up in Gameweek 3.

    Joes questions to Mark are a bit pointless. "What will you do when Kane scores a hat trick?" What will we do? Wildcard? So we get Kane, we'll be leaving out another big hitter. There are too many top players this season, you can't have them all.

    I started a 4-5-1 WC draft and I really like it. Before this season I knew the value was in defense/midfield like most year.

      Bad injury, long recovery...a tough attacking line at Liverpool to get into. He left as needed first time football....he’ll do well at Saints and earn a starting spot. Shame no Tadic there to make some magic for him.

    I had planned to WC around GW8 or 9 but felt that I had to hit the button this GW for exactly the same reasons that Mark Sutherns did. I feel better for reading this LOL

    Seriously, I have made around £0.7m - £0.8m this GW taking into account the ones who have dropped before I intended to transfer them out, and the ones who have increased in price this GW.

    I was shy of Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd players at the start because of various reasons, but now feel confident enough to add Alonso and Pedro into the squad and also Mkhi. I probably wouldn't have been able to do that if I had waited.

    Currently on 168 points and £100.7m + (£0.4m ITB)

      they are handy to have but single rises don't mean all that much, what if Ozil & Willian play instead of Mkhi & Pedro? you haven't gained anything at all 😉 look at Bilva as a prime example

        Single price rises / falls mean everything if you are trying to fit players into a team on a budget.

      It's definitely better to WC early when it comes to building value, as 5.000.000 managers make transfers. My team value is 101.4m, or 101.5m if Mendy rises tonight.

      I haven't been priced out of any player yet, and many can't afford the risers already without disrupting the team.

      Money will start producing points really soon.
