Why Mark has played his FPL Wildcard for Gameweek 3

We can reveal that Mark Sutherns has played his Wildcard for Gameweek 3 of the 2018/19 Fantasy Premier League season.

Joe spoke to him in the latest episode of ScoutCast Extra Time on Friday afternoon to find out his reasons for hitting the button and making a raft of changes.

You can watch that video below or on our YouTube channel.

Mark explained that a lot of his decision revolved around how volatile the transfer market has been since Sergio Aguero‘s (£11.2m) hat-trick in Gameweek 2.

With managers all over the world chopping and changing Mark was faced with a situation where several of his original assets were facing price falls, and those he wanted to replace them with were going in the opposite direction.

Joe made the case for sticking with Mark’s original Gameweek 2 team but it will definitely be an all-new line-up in Gameweek 3.

In our latest edition of ScoutCast Extra Time, Mark takes us through two different teams he is considering before Saturday’s 11:30am deadline – one with Eden Hazard (£10.5m) and one without.

No need to have that many decent but not premium attacking players as you will have to bench one of them. I would go from Pedro>4.5, pva>Taa for Liverpool defensive coverage and hazard>Salah (easier to get hazard in for Salah if he starts performing than the other way round)

    3. bench boost for every gamew…
      • 7 Years

Beside it not having Salah, which could be good by all means, it is very rounded and you can rotate with fixture and also coping with injuries well. Benching headaches from time to time but that you already know and i suspect you did this with intent. I rather have one of Liverpools defenders by upgrading PVA and downgrade Cook, as you will still have WB as cover for Palace defence, but thats just taste more than anything.

Seems like he could do well under Sarri and is the perfect price point up there. Lends to a lot of flexibility.

GWs 9 - 17 very interesting. The Top 6 (City, Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal) play 9 games each in that period. 9 x 6 = 54

Of those 56 games - 28 (50%) are against Top 9 teams (Top 6 + Leicester, Palace and Everton).

    Compare this to GWs 1 - 8. 8 x 6 = 48.

    Of those 48 games - 16 (33%) are against Top 9 teams

Make hay while the sun shines i.e. now until GW 8

Unable to fit in Alonso this GW despite having 2 FTs

Hoping to get him over the next few but to minimise hits I need to use at least 1FT this week.

    a) King > Ings or
    b) B Silva > Mkhitaryan or
    c) a & b

Will then need to do Tomkins > AWB, Cairney > 4.5 and Boly > Alsono; either for a 8 point hit GW4 or over several GWs

    Current team:
    Foster,
    Mendy, Robertson, Tomkins
    Salah, Richarlison, Mané, B Silva,
    Agüero, Arnautovic, King
    Subs: Fabianski, Cairney, Peltier, Boly

    Many thanks

Apologies..... I know there’s a rate my team page somewhere, but I can’t find it? I’ve been away for a few weeks, so a bit off the boil.

I’m not really looking to wildcard, but surely this is a strong side? I’ve starred the 4 I need to use transfers to get in. What’s people’s thoughts.... would be very appreciated.

    Foster, Patricio
    AWB, Robertson, Mendy, Cedric, Lowton
Mane, Richarlison, Mikitaryan, Alli*, B Silva*
    Aguero, Morata*, Ings*

The 4 I currently have where the * is are D Gray, Townsend, Wood, Tosun

Thought about Pedro instead of Silva but the extra funds won’t let me upgrade Morata as no one available at 10.
Chelsea have scored 6 so surely a matter of time before Morata hits. I feel him and Alli could be strong differentials ...

    Thoughts?

I’ve 0.1 to spare but ings is moving up and Townsend down, so I may need to hope none of them (or only one) move and then take a -4 hit this weekend.
I’m not gonna take a 16 hit now, and I’m holding off my wildcard....but that team...... it looks good...

    A) Hamer
    B) DDG

Think I will go with DDG because it will hurt most if he get CS, but interesting the bookies say Hamer got higher probabilty of CS.

    Thoughts?

Will Unai have cojones to drop Ozil?

    Iwobi- Mikhi- Auba
    ----------Laca

Is what I would like to see.

Is there any point playing auba if he’s on left wing? He’s only ever played as a centre forward

I doubt it. Emery looks like a proper moist man.

I dont think its about cojones. Ozil generally shows up vs weaker teams

Well he hasn't showed up in 2 GWs, logic says something has got to change? So just sit him? It's not a cherry picking in this level, is it..That culture at Arsenal has got to change, surely.

Auba will play better with Laca bullying the opponent defenders. The position in the memorial corrider of Henry is the best one he could occupy.

I hope MKhi doesn´t play there, but hope he plays though. Not sure if i would have him in the middle. It depends on their pairing in midfield as well, one would think Ramsey would be suited to play in the middle if say Guendozi and Torreira (both good ballplayers) patrolling behind him to let him go on his runs inside the pen area? Iwobi down the middle could perhaps also be an option?

      c) bednarek > robertson ...Clean sheet + assist potential.
The rest of your team is fine. See how King performs this week. You can move him to Mitrovic/ Wilson/ Ings next week for free if need be.
Tomkins is still a good pick & Firmino has Brighton (H).
