Has Kanté’s new Chelsea role improved his Fantasy potential?

Some Fantasy Premier League managers may have been too quick to jump on the N’Golo Kanté (£5.0m) bandwagon this season.

The Chelsea midfielder is now in 22.1% of squads after netting a rare goal against Huddersfield Town in Gameweek 1.

However, it seems there is little to suggest Kanté will provide much value this season in spite of his new role at Stamford Bridge.

While this is a debate that raged on the Scoutcast a few weeks ago, we thought we’d take the opportunity of the international break to give it a bit more of a look.

          If happy with the rest of your team and have a free transfer I'd go for Wilson, bt if shipping king involves a hit then I'd keep for now as fixtures are favourable to hold on a bit longer

    Hate hits.. Still have WC intact, but don't want to use it yet. My initial thought by looking at my team is taking a hit now and another one before next GW:
    GW5: B.Silva and Mkhi to Fraser and D.Silva. (Unless there are signs that B.Silva are guaranteed to start)
    GW6: Tosun and Neves to Wilson and Richarlison.

      Personally I would use WC. Kamara, Peltier, Mkhi, Tosun and B.Silva are all sells for me. Possibly 1 of Salah or Mane as well

        I won't use WC to get rid of Peltier and Kamara, they are bench fodder. Mkhi and B.Silva might go out for a hit, and Tosun gets the game versus West Ham before he gets shipped out. They are leaking goals so I fancy him getting some points in that game.

      Your hit this gw looks tempting but not sure about plan for gw6, probably would just do tosun out for Wilson, and then play Bissaka home to Newcastle instead of bringing in Rich for a hit away to Arsenal. Then you could do the Neves-Rich move next week thereafter?

      Although it makes sense giving their recent performance but id give them another chance given both Tosun and Bilva playing at home then you can change both of them the coming week to fraser - Mitro/Wilson . As for Mkhi : i might wait as Arsenal will have two home games coming after NEW game and if he doesn't perform well then you can change him to Maddi or Richa .

        B.Silva went off with a minor injury precaution with Portugal. Probably not gonna start this game either.

      I think this looks prime WC territory to be. Sure it COULD be worse but you have three unreliable attacking players you are relying on because of your weak bench. There's about 6 justifiable transfers there and several players now who are in great form and have great fixtures that you don't own. I'm not sure you'll have a chance to better your team more this year unless you actually allow it get worse

        Have to disagree.

        I have the perfect defence, and goalkeeper spot has been decent as well.

        In midfield Mane and Salah will stay, as well as Aguero up front. Neves and Tosun with nice fixtures this weekend and could pick up some points. Bilva and Mkhi the only worries, and probably worth a hit for Dilva and Fraser if signs are that they are benched.

        Saving WC until we might have to go with two heavy hitters up front.

          Yes, we disagree. As excellent as Neves is I wouldn't want to be relying on for points, likewise Tosun and not least with Rich and poss Wally absent. Hazard is absolutely prime and Bournemouth are scoring goals right now, have players in form and prime fixtures. My personal choice would not be to hang onto the six or seven players you think might be good for another week and to hold out for when 2 heavy hitters up front MIGHT be the template (which can be achieved easily with 2FT when factored into a WC setup) but to act right now on where the points are coming from.

            Remember there will also be hits absolutely galore in the coming fortnight and player prices will be very active. You could be hit by drops from several angles. Only a minor consideration but one nonetheless

            I think it boils down to Hazard or no Hazard. I'm not completely sold on him yet. Not only based on his in-game numbers this season, but also earlier years where he goes lots of games without points. for 10.7M I expect more.

      I think those transfers for this week are excellent. I was never sold on BSilva and while I personally intend to stick with Mkhi for another week, I believe DSilva is a much better option.

      Not a huge fan of points hits either, but both of those transfers should pay off with those fixtures!

      Shurrle is a wait and see for me at this point, while Pedro is more of a gamle in terms of game time, but looks really good and has great underlying numbers.

    Would really appreciate some advice on what to do with this team;

    Salah Mane Walcott Mkhi Cairney
    Kun Zaha Ings

    Was going to do Salah & Boly to Alonso & Hazard for a -4 but I think there are more pressing issues (especially with the midfield).

      Tough call who to captain. I expect I’ll get double digit halls from Mane, Hazard and Aguero, but who’s going to get the higher score! Haha. But in all seriousness, I got rid of Salah because I thought Mane could outscore him for cheaper so whenever Salah is the favoured captain I’ll likely have Mané.

    On WC, is it crazy to go without Pool assets?
    Currently have Mane, but if I downgrade him to DSilva (whom I can see outscore in next 5) I could upgrade 4.5 keeper to Kepa or Shaw to Trippier.

      Wouldn't do that. Mane starts every game while Silva could miss the odd game.

      I think that the ownership will punish you. Almost everyone owns salah and/or mane so going without both will probably really hurt when they return.

      Keep Mané. Liverpool score goals against everyone so don’t look at their fixtures for attacking players (defenders I expect might struggle over this period). Also his price rises will make it harder to get him back in.

    What are people's thoughts on a Bournemouth attacking double up and Chelsea defensive double up for the next few weeks?

    Would be Fraser and King.
    And Alonso and Luiz.

    Good idea?
