Does drop in Kane’s numbers affect FPL credentials for Gameweek 8?

Harry Kane (£12.5m) is already the runaway leader of our Gameweek 8 captain poll, but do those currently not in possession of the Spurs forward need to sign him?

That is the big question on the minds of many Fantasy Premier League managers this week, especially with Liverpool and Manchester City options potentially cancelling each other out.

We’ve gone over some of Kane’s numbers from the first seven Gameweeks and compared them with how he was faring 12 months ago, to see if it’s worth selling the likes of Sergio Aguero (£11.4m) or Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) to get him in.

    For the long term

    A) Robertson + Fraser
    B) TAA + Maddison

If A I will look to swap Fraser for Maddison in a few weeks via Kane -> Kun downgrade

Not B - he has a decent fixture this week.

Your team doesn’t need a WC imo so I’d look to save that. I think I would probably do C and then do Zaha/King -> Mitro/Arnie soon. I totally get the appeal of Kane though so can see why A is tempting.

Cheers Jinswick. Really want Vardy if I go C, but haven't looked into it too much. You think Arnie/West Ham are a solid bet for points? Just looked at their fixtures and they get tasty from GW11. Double up with Felipe Anderson or Yarmalenko could be good

Good start, patience has meant missing Hazard and Kane last week. The hit takers have been rewarded so far. Hopefully can keep plodding along and pass the early gloaters as the season goes.

Really is six and half a dozen.

AWB has the home fixture and higher ownership, but wolves attack is (arguably) more potent than Palace’s, who haven’t scored in their last 3 home matches. Also limited attacking output.

Doherty away from home and lower ownership (depends how you look at that if it’s good or bad), Wolves have been pretty solid defensively and Doherty has been strong going forward.

I think Doherty has the edge for me

last gw he played full time, oh well.
but it seems not worth of -4.

  11. sfsfsfe
    • 6 Years
    5 years, 7 months ago

Sitting without Kane right now and have 3 options.

    1. Take a -4 to get in Kane for Kun and Joselu for Wilson. This leaves me with 0 city coverage and leaves me forced into a 4-4-2 with no other good formation.

    2. Take a -4 to get Kane for Kun and get rid of Salah for someone under 11.9 (sterling etc). This leaves With no city coverage unless i go sterling, and no Liverpool. Salah would probably be someone I would have to get in again when the fistures swing. This is the least tempting option in my mind.

    3. Banking the transfer and pray that Kane blanks, Agüero gets to start and Salah to get some sort of return.

    What would you do?

          • 14 Years

Agree, a hit to get rid of Kun and/or Salah when you prob want them back next week makes no sense. Imo

            • 6 Years
            5 years, 7 months ago

Been pretty set on banking from the start, Then Kane braces, Salah starts taking shots that ends up outside of London, Agüero plays 90 in cl and the bad thoughts comes...

              Again just my opinion,
Kane (just by watching) is not appealing to me, just watching
Next week i prob want Kum capt, the following week Salah
90 mins in champs league? This surely proves hes fit? If he'd played 0 mins would be alot more worried.
Cant argue Kane is great for this week, would capt if had due to fixture. To get him in for 'one 'week' for a hit? No thanks

I’m in the same boat with Aguero, Salah and no Kane (I also have DSilva, team is above)

I’ve gotta go with 3. Kane could deliver big this week, but he could also blank while the city liv game is high scoring, you never know. Ending up with no city and / or Liverpool is not appealing, especially as you’d probably want at least salah back for GW9 onward... based on that, and given I think it’s like aguero starts, id Save the transfer

Just watched City’s game from last night.

To not award peno for Sane incident is arguably one of the worst referee decision ever.

Free Hit - Make unlimited free transfers for a single Gameweek. At the next deadline your squad is returned to how it was at the start of the Gameweek.

Please note that when playing either a Wildcard or your Free Hit chip, any saved free transfers will be lost. You will be back to the usual 1 free transfer the following Gameweek.

You’ll have 1 FT after WC or FH. Saved is wasted.

    Patricio
    Robertson AWB Trippier
    Hughes Hazard Dilva Mane
    Kun Wilson Firmino

    Foster | Holebas Billing 3.9

Planning to roll the FT to get a mini WC next GW.

    Captain?
    A. Hazard - Easy fixture and the in form player in the PL.
    B. Mane/Firmino - Liverpool at home and have good recent record against City.
    C. Kun - Good record against Liverpool (6G + 4A in 12 PL games)

Had a rough GW7. Had 2 free transfers ready to do on Saturday and then had a stroke Friday evening. Went from 5K to 9K ranking. Still in hospital.

very rouch week and still holding Mendy with blind hope.

    These moves worth of -4?
    Mendy to Jonny,
    Shaw to Doherty,
    Silva to Sterling.

Could have done it for free but missed Sterlings rise.

If Mendy is available it doesn't look bad.
Hazard could easily outscore Kane, and makes no sense to get rid of Kun or Salah for a week imo.
I usually like to save if I'm not sure what to do, then if you have a bad week you can always do a mini wildcard.
