Spot the Differential – Opportunity for FPL managers to board Vardy bandwagon early

Aside from all the talk about Harry Kane, there are still several differential options available in Gameweek 8.

We’ve picked out three more players owned by less than 5% of Fantasy Premier League managers who can help propel you up the overall rankings.

This week we are turning to assets at Leicester City, Wolves and Manchester United.

Jamie Vardy (£8.9m)

Ownership: 4.8%

A Gameweek 2 sending off and the success of James Maddison (£6.9m) has hit Jamie Vardy‘s (£8.9m) ownership hard in the early part of 2018/19. But the Leicester City man is still a great option to own for Gameweek 8.

In the last four Gameweeks, only four players have registered more shots on target than Vardy. He also ranks joint-third for shots inside the box and is still on penalties for Leicester City.

His next opponents are an Everton side still with just one clean sheet to their name in 2018/19. Vardy is especially fond of the Toffees having scored four times and assisted twice in his last five Premier League matches against them. In that run, he has won two penalties, scoring two himself.

Vardy looks like a good option for long-term investment too with Arsenal (away), West Ham (home), Cardiff (away), Burnley (home) and Brighton (away) also coming up in the next six Gameweeks.

Adama Traoré (£5.5m)

Ownership: 0.6%

Adama Traoré (£5.5m) may not have started a match for Wolves yet, but he is certainly pushing for one. The rapid winger has promised attacking returns if he can get some more minutes on the pitch.

In the last four Gameweeks, Traore has managed five shots on target, the same as Sergio Aguero (£11.4m) and Mohamed Salah (£12.9m). He has achieved that in a fraction of the minutes, registering just 105 to Aguero’s 271 and Salah’s 317.

Wolves go to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace in Gameweek 8 and look like they will have plenty of opportunities to score. Only two sides have allowed more chances considered to be ‘big’ by Opta in home matches than Palace this season.

Chris Smalling (£5.8m)

Ownership: 2.2%

Any Manchester United player is going to be considered a differential for Gameweek 8 after their surprise defeat to West Ham last week.

However, the nature of their upcoming fixture demands some attention from Fantasy managers.

Newcastle United come to Old Trafford with just one away goal to their name this season. Furthermore, they have the lowest shot tally on the road in 2018/19 and are in the bottom efforts on target too.

A clean sheet looks on for Chris Smalling (£5.8m) and his United colleagues, and the centre-back promises some attacking threat too.

The Magpies are in the bottom three for set play attempts allowed away from home so far this season, and Smalling has already found the net once in 2018/19.

Bad GK for this gw, no Kane, Mitro against Arsenal, Maddison vs Richarlison, AWB vs Bennet, Aguero bad anfield history, Mane outform, Hazard not convincing in away games. This is gonna be poor.

I have Salah, Aguero and Hazard and have 2 FT. After this week these are the 3 I want.

    Considering the following:

    A) Salah and Wilson to Kane and Fraser (no hit) and then reverse the transfer next week for a -4; or

    B) Ignore Kane and use 1 transfer to do Peltier to Bennett/ Doherty

    1. Camzy

      B for sure.

That's effectively an 8 point hit for Kane. He needs to score two goals to make that up (well less coz you'll have the captaincy on him) but still not worth it.

        • 6 Years

For the Arsenal game. But 3 blanks in a row makes you question, especially as their don't have a brilliant run of games compared to Watford/Leicester.

      • 8 Years

I've got both but I'll have to make a decision over the break on which one to drop for Salah. Rich's fixtures do become mixture after Palace at Home. He's got 3 nice home games and 3 difficult away games so he may have to make way for Salah. Plus easier to downgrade Maddison to Richarlison later on if things play out that way

I honestly think that's still quite a close call, Burnley showing some form after the difficult start, although same can be said for the Hammers.

Luckily I have both, but if I only had Kane I wouldn't be panicking to swap him for Aguero for GW9.

      Becasue they want Aguero back.

Without a WC it's hard to get Kane AND Aguero in your team in a coupel of moves.

      1. HamezMace
        • 9 Years

But is Aguero so much more likely to haul against Burnley (Joe Harts Revenge) than Kane against West Ham?

    4. Pep says
      • 8 Years
      5 years, 7 months ago

West Ham's performances against Chelsea and United are partly to do with it and Salah or Aguerro feel like a better captaincy option so if not captaining Kane over the next 6 gw's, I don't want him. That's my take anyway, I brought him in last week on WC with the intention of saving the free and losing him after Cardiff

      1. HamezMace
        • 9 Years
        5 years, 7 months ago

Sounds like a fair plan, and going well for you so far!
As mentioned above I just don't see Aguero vs Burnley to be so much better than Kane vs West Ham. Both Hammers, and Burnley are improving after tough starts, although I note the opposition was tougher for West Ham.

        1. Pep says

If I had him so would I.
Mane doesn't give me the same confidence.
I have Kane, Kun, Hazard and Mane as my big hitters, so I'll probably stick with C Kane in GW9.

Nothing wrong with Kane at West Ham, but Aguero and Salah have better fixtures, and Kane isn't such a good armband option after this week. My plan is to ditch him for Salah, but timing will depend on Mo showing some form and events over the Int Break.

      1. HamezMace
        • 9 Years
        5 years, 7 months ago

If it's to bring in Salah to captain him I could probably get on board with that.
But Kane to Aguero I genuinely think could go either way GW9.

    6. jtreble

Then why swap him for Aguero at all?

Lots of people on here are taking hits to get Kane this week...with the plan to just swap him straight back out again next week.

        1. jtreble

To get points from the HUD and CAR games. Then -> Salah for GW9. Bringing in Kane for just CAR seems too risky to me.

            • 9 Years
            5 years, 7 months ago

Exactly, you've just said it's about more than one game..and as you can't do Kane to Salah that's probably going to involve more hits for people. Just don't get the logic in transferring in Kane just to play Cardiff...especially when his next game isn't exactly bad. It seems like you agree with me.

CAR alone, not for me. HUD and CAR, yes. WC to Kane for HUD and CAR, and then out for GW9, yes.

    Aguero Arnie Mitro

I feel like I should be playing Doherty and Jonny but the other 3 are all at home...think I'm set on starting Shaw and Pereira...

Also, eyeing up Aguero -> La(c)a...thoughts?

just looking for confirmation it's a bad idea - but tbh their projected points this week must be similar, Arsenal aren't as bad as people are making out

Their defense is not great they give up a lot of chances even in the games they've won games could've gone either way

Fred coz you save. Zaba is ageing and doesn't offer much attacking points nowadays.

Is there a way of finding out what rank you would be if you had 519 points?

Go to the 2nd page and edit the address bat to whatever rank your looking for. 50 teams per page so divide 50 into 550,you get 11, that's the page you want

I'm playing Doherty this week, so in Goal do I put Patricio and double up vs Palace away or split the risk and put Fabs in Goal vs Brighton away.
