Scoutcast Extra – Big Numbers (Gameweeks 1-12)

The latest international break gives us the opportunity to take stock of the key underlying statistics being posted by teams and players over the first 12 Gameweeks of the season.

In this extra to our usual Scoutcast format, David and Joe sift through a raft of statistics to uncover who have been the most attacking players in terms of both goal threat and creativity.

They also find out who has been over and under performing and delve deep into the team statistics.  Most threatening sides, best defences and those vying for whipping boy status are among issues looked at.

Meanwhile, our Scoutcast duo also find out which defenders are set to produce points at both ends of the pitch and they name the best bonus magnets to consider.

Key talisman, who are integral to their side’s chances of scoring, are also put under the microscope.

Joe and David also reveal how this autumnal stat-attack has affected their future transfer plans.

Tables used in this Scoutcast Extra episode are from our Members area.

    So mendy out now,
Mendy > robertson(double up with TAA)
    Or,
    Mendy > digne/chilwell/balbuena/dunk

?? Tempting towards double pool !!!

Both options are good. For me it’s sometimes dangerous doubling up on 2 players from the same defence. Saying that Liverpool have only conceded 5 goals all season and 1 was because of Alisson trying to take someone on. TAA could be the way to go.

Digne good option too. There is Doherty and Laschelles as well.

    Patricio (Hamer)
    Alonso Robertson Mendy** Trippier* (AWB*)
    Salah Hazard Richarlison* Fraser (Stephens***)
    Aguero Arnautovic (Success)

I was hoping to save it for GW16 but is it time to use my wildcard, if so who would look to bring in?

    1. Kub3
      • 5 Years
      5 years, 5 months ago

That’s a pretty decent team. It really depends how different you want your team to be via the wildcard. If it’s not going to be much different there probably isn’t a need. I would look to wildcard in a few weeks when Laca and Auba have better fixtures.

      1. Bob B
        • 10 Years

If anything I'd rejig the defence but I'd have to stray away from the template further up the team.
Will probably look to bring in Doherty this week, would have been for Trippier but Mendy seems the more likely candidate now. Tempted to get them both out and bring in Jonny too!

As a Mahrez and sterling owner , Mendy out is bad news for me, it almost certainly means sane will be nailed with Mahrez and sterling competing on the right, but I would hope sterling gets the most game time and considering Mahrez to sane this week. For those who don't believe me go look at sane' s minutes gw 5-7 when Mendy was previously injured

Just realized Mendy is out. Great news as I have Ings, Richa, WanB, Mendy all flagged for next week. How does this look?
    Ings + Mendy --> Jimenez + Trent Arnold for -4 ?
    Or
    Ings + Mendy + Salah --> Jimenez + Robertson + Sterling for -8?

    Rest of the team
    Alisson (Hamer)
    Alonso Laporte (?) Bennett Wan-B
    Hazard Salah Mane Richardlison Fraser
    Ings Arnie Wilson

    0.1ITB 1FT
Despite the rotation worries Trent still continue to start after missing that 2 games. Looked super attacking too. Good gamble at 5m? Not convinced with leicester defence and definitely not west ham's at that price point.

Not sure I trust Toon enough to go Yedlin
Dunk looks good short term but fixtures turn 5 weeks or so
Chilwell also good, but feel like Lei can be a little hit or miss sometimes.
Digne probably leading for me if I wanna go cheaper than one of the MCI CBs

Yeah. Digne leaves enough exactly for Fraser to Martial too, but over the Xmas period do you think money would be better spent on Quaner to Jiminez than Fraser to Martial?

              Yeah probably.

I know this is going against conventional wisdom but I don't worry too much about the fixture pile up.

For me, it (obviously) also gives us a transfer pile up; more often than not I find the Saturday Tuesday Saturday gives me 3 FTs and not enough to do with them, or at least a bit of flexibility to take punts or adapt to what's needed

have to agree with that but I would have decent cover for him if he did miss a game. Think with Mendy out he will play a lot more though as they will be lacking on the left side!

Thinking that Mendy > Laporte is a good move now.

But John Stones...started the last 5 league games. Can we say he's nailed now? Not a risk I'm likely to take, but I think Pep has had enough of Kompany's liabilities

Kyle Walker not talked about much round these parts....mainly due to the price and perceived to be a lesser option to Mendy?

    1. Albrightondknight
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Of those I would probably go Laporte. Nailed and a little bit cheaper than Walker.
Stones getting a good run but doubts still remain if he is nailed I think. I had Ederson and Mendy and would like to keep double City defence. But just going Mendy to a Dunk or Digne will free up some cash

Bench headache is going away at least.
And the ITB has hardly started 🙂

Yup more to come. I will have to play balbeuna and have a feeling he is gonna be 0 pointer after city rampage. Probably better to play freehit if this goes on

Was thinking of getting city defensive cover (Laporte).

But their next 5 fixtures are WHU, BOU, WAT, CHE and EVE.

    Could be zero Cleansheets.

Just play Bennet for next two and decide?

Or 4-5 CS, which I would say is more likely. 2 goals conceded in about 10 games and both from penalties. I could be wrong on this but I think they are the stats.

Yup. More cs than not imo too

History says so but gut says otherwise.

Also I have attackers from 4 of those. Will be tough to watch games. (Arnie, Haz, Richa, Fraser)

Nice to plan for Mendy out but I won't lose on selling price on the first drop.
He is still about + 20 right now so will he double drop this week?
Would not mind putting off the decision til next week my bench can probably allow for it.

So my Mendy situation is different, i dont own Alonso but can afford him. Im doubled up on Liverpool defenders and i own Patricio.

My options are Alonso, Doherty, Laporte or Digne. Any thoughts?

      Alonso 100%

Surely alonso. You could get doherty for 2 weeks but alonso is must have after that

      Alonso

    Best option for Mendy?

    A) Doherty
    B) Digne
    C) TAA
    D) Laporte
    E) Stones
    F) Dunk

      Doherty/digne

Team dependent question but, in isolation, I like A or B the best.

Laporte and TAA. Doherty short term

No way Alli or Eriksen could be considered from GW15 on yet?
Anyone prepared to take a punt by then or even thinking about it.
They have had issues but apart from that they are way previous seasons performances.
Class is permanent - fixtures are good. Risk it for a biscuit?

Mendy out would leave 9.0 for that 3rd mid spot so just shy of Eriksen. Worth finding the extra .2 I need and stay away from Alli?

I guess alli is fine from FPL perspective

Just prefer to see Eriksen's name on my team sheet instead of alli

Eriksen could have a chronic stomach injury according to his Denmark coach. Wouldn't punt on him until he starts a few.

Any feels on Robbo vs VVD from here? If money isn’t an issue is Robertson worth the extra 0.4?

Should I just do Mendy to Doherty now or is Doherty's injury real?

Yes I think Robbo is worth it definitely

You’d be able to wait a few days yeah? Prices seem like they’re going nowhere for a few days at least.

Cheers for the reply, think I’ll just grab Robbo while he’s still 6.4

I think so. If I buy a premium priced defender I expect some offensive returns as well. VVD's "offensive threat" is just a myth, he never gets any attacking returns, so you're only getting CS points, at best.
