FPL Team News and Injury Round-up – Gameweek 20

Anthony Martial (illness), Romelu Lukaku (personal reasons) and Alexis Sanchez (hamstring) are all back in contention for Manchester United after returning to training, with the attacking trio set to be assessed ahead of the visit of Bournemouth.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said:

Romelu [Lukaku], Anthony [Martial] and Alexis were [in] light [training] yesterday so hopefully they can join part of the training today and let’s see after they’ve come through.

Marcos [Rojo] and Scott [McTominay] look like they can take part very soon as well, so it’s looking better. Smalling has got a sore foot, so I don’t think we’ll see him until the New Year anyway – maybe not even before Spurs.

Pedro (hamstring) will be unavailable for Chelsea on Sunday, with the Blues likely to be missing another winger in the form of Callum Hudson-Odoi (hamstring).

That may push Eden Hazard back onto the left flank, though Maurizio Sarri was once again effusive in his praise of the Belgian as a central striker:

He is able to play as a winger and he is able to play in the centre of the pitch. I’m really very happy with him in this position because he’s able to score firstly, but also open spaces for team-mates and come to play with team-mates. I’m happy with him in the position but in the future he can play as a winger of course.

I cannot see the problem of Hazard in this role, he played four matches as a false nine, scored three goals and has three assists, so I’m not able to see the problem.

In this moment we need to be solid and with Hazard in this position I think we can become more solid, it’s a good option for the defensive phase but it depends on the moment.

Shkodran Mustafi (ankle) could return to boost Arsenal’s defensive ranks in Gameweek 20 ahead of their trip to Anfield, where Liverpool will be missing James Milner (muscle).

Serge Aurier (muscle) and Dele Alli (hamstring) will be assessed ahead of Spurs’ match against Wolves, who will again be without Diogo Jota (hamstring).

We won’t hear from Pep Guardiola before tomorrow so we’re still in the dark regarding the availability of Fernandinho (thigh) and Gabriel Jesus (knock), both of whom missed the Boxing Day defeat against Leicester City.

The Gameweek 20 preview section of Manuel Pellegrini’s presser is also embargoed until Saturday morning, so we await information on whether Marko Arnautovic (hamstring) or Javier Hernandez (knock) are able to return to face Burnley.

The Clarets themselves have major doubts over Robbie Brady (knock) and Steven Defour (calf).

Ademola Lookman (ankle) is Everton’s only injury worry for the match against Brighton, who will be missing Mathew Ryan after his departure for the Asian Cup. Chris Hughton confirmed that he is yet to make a decision over which £4.0m-rated goalkeeper he will choose as the Australian’s deputy.

Jonjo Shelvey (thigh) is fit for Newcastle, while Watford will have Will Hughes back after a hip problem.

Simon Francis (ruptured ACL) has suffered a season-ending knee injury and joins Adam Smith and Lewis Cook on the sidelines for Bournemouth.

Wayne Hennessey has recovered from a back problem so Crystal Palace are only without Christian Benteke (knee) for the visit of Chelsea.

Michael Obafemi (knock) looks set to remain unavailable for Southampton after missing the defeat to West Ham.

Claude Puel said that fatigue was an issue for Leicester City ahead of the visit of Cardiff City, who are again set to be without Kenneth Zohore (thigh).

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa (unspecified injury) is Fulham’s only injury doubt for the clash with Huddersfield, who have no new fitness concerns.

Anyone else forecasting an absolute goal fest at old trafford on Sunday?

I think we could be in for something special (from an attacking perspective) - two teams that can't defend to save their lives, throwing everything but the kitchen sink at each other's goals...

Crowd in OT will be well up for it too still on the Ole high

Definitely not benching fraser or wilson this week - hopefully Pogba gets in on the act too

I'm thinking literally like 5-3 or 4-2 - Solksjaer hasn't got a clue when it comes to defending - Bournemouth's DNA isn't exactly defensive solidity either.

        Maybe even a 7-6

I just think United aren’t that clinical (yet),also I think the fixtures Ole got were piss poor and Jose would have won all these games too.
There a long long way to go.

honestly wouldnt suprise me - or lingard, or rashford, or mata, or even Alexis or Kaku if rumours are to be belived.

There'll be an awful lot of firepower on the pitch, and an awful lack of defensive solidity on both team

after 5 awful gw I did it... the free hit chip is active. yes I know it's stupid and not the right time but something different had to be done...

    so how's about that:

    fab (speroni)
    pereira digne holebas (kiko schindler)
haz salah (c) fanderson pereyra pogba
    kane mitro (kamara)

    who's missing? sane? son? shearer?

    1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus

      5 years, 4 months ago

May as well get Trippier if you're doing a free hit - home game and rested for a few days - he should be good for a haul
Same with Son although possibly risky with rotation
I'd be captaining Lord Harold too but Mo always scores so he's fine

Strange week to FH hit though, especially with difficultly in predicting rotation - you're likely going to have about 4 players starting when the Champs Lge/EL double GW's get rearranged - that was what FH was specifically brought in for

I’d consider a city player expect them to bounce back and saints like to concede also another united asset against Bournemouth and also wouldn’t captain Salah

        cheers man good stuff!
trippier is good shout and also captaining kane.

I know its not the ideal week to FH but a couple of bad decisions took me from OR 8000 to 60000 so I guess its just another bad decision...

Arsenal have Fulham & West Ham after this Gameweek, not an ideal time to be shopping their assets unless it’s Laca & you’re frustrated with minutes. City SHOULD put a few past Saints too, if Sane plays he’s involved in goals...

Lots of big guns firing at the moment. Who do we reckon is the most vital over the next 6 GWs:

    Kane
    Auba
    Hazard
    Salah
    Sane/Sterling

I'm definitely sticking with Kane and Hazard, but undecided between the Auba and Salah...leaning towards the latter. No City at the moment for me.

That's because of the ridiculous fixture weighting Spurs got lumbered with

Remember his first 14 league games? A grand total of FIVE of those were at home, and of those 5 three were against Livepool, Man City & Chelsea, never seen a fixture list like it.

In his next 7 he has WOL, WAT, NEW, LEI, ful, car and a little bonus MAN to spice things up - he'll be top scorer in the game soon enough.

Why is Lloris not looked at as an FPL keeper at all - not even on the watchlist. Quite keen as I want to jump off Ederson, 8 good fixtures out of the next 9 including WAT, NEW, LEI as three home games in a row (I guess because of the Stadium shenanigans).

Just can't decide who to get out of Pogba, Martial or Lingard.

Mmm, I agree about Pogba. Not entirely comfortable with him. He's too deep. Isnt gonna be scoring from long range every game. Martial is still rated as doubtful so maybe a bit of a risk. Think I'm gonna go Lingard.

I know plan is to downgrade alonso to a cheapie so I can get salah back after the city game, which will make the defense decision easier

Is Trippier good pick for next 3/4 GWs ? or Maguire/Pereira ?

Is aurier injured or what ?

Trippier should start tomorrow, but he will be big rotation risk vs Cardiff..

Not seeing much love for Vardy, upcoming fixtures look delightful. Am I missing something?

I asked this yesterday because I was wondering the same thing. You're not missing anything, he's a great differential and now in my team.
