There has been plenty happening on our site since the late-June relaunch of Fantasy Premier League.

We have already taken a position-by-position look at the FPL price list and churned out several player comparison articles, while our community have been busy discussing everything from rotation pairs to positional changes.

This latest round-up article assembles everything we have written so far in one place.

Price List and Player Analysis

As happens every summer, our FPL coverage begins in earnest with an initial look at the price list.

Goalkeepers

Our goalkeeper analysis was divided into two parts, with a lament on the possible struggle for budget shot-stoppers in 2019/20 followed up by a glance through the options available for £5.0m+.

Defenders

Budget gems may be difficult to find among £4.0m-£4.5m defenders, too, but there is plenty for Fantasy managers to consider among the mid-price and premium options.

Giggs Boson and Ramboros were among the site users bemoaning the lack of choice in the sub-£5.0m tier, while The Fantasy FreAEK hailed Lucas Digne (£6.0m) and put Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.0m) under the spotlight in another Hot Topic.

The Alexander-Arnold versus Andrew Robertson (£7.0m) question is also one we posed in a Members’ article.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka‘s (£5.5m) price hike and move to Manchester United prompted a look at his underlying statistics, while we also asked if Seamus Coleman (£5.5m) could ‘cover’ Digne in the Everton defence.

Midfielders

Over 40% of the players in FPL are midfielders, so there were more articles devoted to this position in our price list analysis.

There was a whistle-stop tour of all the budget options available at £4.5m, £5.0m and £5.5m, while we also scrutinised the mid-price and premium alternatives in the middle of the park.

Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) and Sadio Mane (£11.5m) are now separated by just one million in FPL and we assessed the two Liverpool options in an in-depth comparison piece.

That conundrum took an interesting turn when Salah and Egypt were eliminated from the Africa Cup of Nations at the round-of-16 stage.

Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison got the same treatment as we studied the two £8.0m-rated Everton options, while a price drop for Kevin De Bruyne (£9.5m) brought the Belgian back into focus as we looked at his appeal in 2019/20.

Forwards

Again, our look at the forwards was divided into three parts: budget, mid-price and premium.

Harry Kane‘s (£11.0m) price drop turned heads upon FPL’s launch for 2019/20 and led to us analysing the Spurs striker’s performances last season.

The Joshua King (£6.5m) versus Callum Wilson (£8.0m) debate is also one we explored in detail in a recent piece.

Debate about premium forwards also ensued in a discussion prompted by ZoumasBloomers.

Positional Changes

We rounded up the players who have changed position in FPL on launch day, with Ludo looking at the possible repercussions of the various reclassifications.

Ayoze Perez (£6.5m) was one such example and the former Newcastle United attacker was the subject of a ‘Moving Target’ article upon his move to Leicester City.

Rotation Pairs and Fixture Difficulty

Rotation was a concept we looked at upon the release of the Premier League fixture list in June, with Portsmouth Bubblejet detailing the ten perfect combinations that guarantee Fantasy managers a home fixture every week – something Doosra reminded us of last week.

The teams with the best and worst fixtures have also been identified in our very first Frisking the Fixtures articles of 2019/20.

New Premier League Players

Premier League clubs have been increasingly active in the transfer market over the past few weeks and we’ve been profiling many of the big-name arrivals as and when they happen.

Scout Reports on the following players are already available to read, with more to follow over the summer:

On top of this, we have also profiled new Brighton boss Graham Potter.

FPL Assets in International Action

There have been dozens of Premier League players representing their countries in various tournaments this summer, from the Copa America and Africa Cup of Nations to the Gold Cup and European Under-21 Championships.

Our Scout Notes articles have been keeping you abreast of the latest developments concerning FPL assets and will continue to do so over the coming weeks.

Frank Lampard’s Appointment

Maurizio Sarri’s exit at Stamford Bridge was followed by the appointment of Frank Lampard as manager of Chelsea, with the former Derby County boss’s first press conference as the Blues’ head coach covered in an article last Friday.

A full Scout Report is imminent but in the meantime, let us point you in the direction of two Hot Topics from Rotation’s Alter Ego and AK for excellent discussion and analysis of the new Chelsea boss.

Newly Promoted Teams

Earlier in the summer, we brought you an in-depth analysis of the three newly promoted clubs, their managers and their 2018/19 squads.

You can catch up with that reading via the links below:

Norwich City
Sheffield United
Aston Villa

FPL League Codes

For the Fantasy managers who may have missed them, here are the entry codes to various FPL mini-leagues that are already up and running:

  • Fantasy Football Scout – ooyz44
  • FFS H2H League (entry) – gh0126
  • Red Lightning’s Top 10k Any Season – kmow16
  • TorresMagic’s Last Man Standing – bcvy39

The code for the Fantasy Football Scout Members league is written in the dashboard of the Members’ Area.

If you are running a community tournament next season and would like the details to feature in future Community Round-Ups then please email geoff@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Be sure to check in with our dedicated pre-season page (which will be updated today) over the coming month as we keep tabs on everything that could affect FPL managers’ plans between now and Gameweek 1.

    kun or sterling?
kun is the one player i hate not having, as you know he is capable of a hattie or more in a game. 20 plus goals a season.
last season kun 21 goals, 11 assists 2457 minutes
    ster 17 goals, 15 assists 2770 minutes,
extra pt for goal and cs,

Toss a coin. No one can confidently answer that one. I personally feel Sterling will get better and better but Kun is no mug and he allows a better balance. It's a toss up , both come with a set of handcuffs like Kane so hope you get it right

I'm still on auto pick but id be very surprised if sterling isn't in my team come kick off. Although I've never not started with Kun and he's my fav ever FPL player.. a lot of temptation

kun would be my only premium player upfront, it would make it easier to switch to kane, auba, vardy etc if injured
with ster and salah in plus the premium defenders, i have 3 6.5 strikers, which will be harder to to change if premium forward starts well

I'm starting with Kun over Sterling.
Think (or hope) he will have a better start to the season than Sterling, and would allow me to play 442 formation, rather than the risky 451 formation

my thinking to, more confident of captaining kun,
as i said, he is the one player i hate not having in my team when city play, may not get as many minutes as sterling, still their main scorer as his record shows
        cheers

1.5m seems a heck of a lot, especially if you're only really looking at the first 2 fixtures.

        • 8 Years

Why only really looking at the first two fixtures? They're playing Man City 3rd but after that don't have the worst run. Don't see it as a heck of a lot if he significantly outscores King. I think people are reading too much into the "on pens" bit. He was on pens last season too and Wilson significantly outscored him from a ppg perspective.

I don't think Bournemouth will do that well. After GW2 I'll not be committed to King and will not really be looking to bring anyone else in. That's just me - if you think they'll have a great season, Wilson could be a long-term keeper.

Are any of the 5.5m midfielders worth having?

Not for me, Jorginho/Noble and use the 0.5 elsewhere or upgrade

Wasn't there an article on this? Nobody that stands out.

McArthur/Neves/Noble I think are all worth it in that bracket. Noble takes penalties so if he still gets starts this season he could be a solid asset

If you weren't so busy posting you'd have noticed a very big article asking exactly this yesterday.

Whoever wins the battle between Duffy or Freeman at Sheff U but wouldn’t expect too much. Probably better shuffling your squad to get an extra million for that place.

Done a first draft of my team for this year. What do you think?

    Fabianski - Patricio
    VVD - Digne - Ake - Dunk - Kilman
    Salah - Bilva - Moura - Groß - Noble
    Aguero - King - Calvert-Lewin

Stick with Fab if you like him and Pat down to 4.0.
I'd rather have Siggi than Bilva.
      Moura a transfer in waiting.

        Sounds good on Moura.
I currently don't have Siggy because I don't want to triple up on Everton this early in the season (as much as I'd love to put Gylfi in my team.)
I like the fixture pairing of Fab and Rui for a long term strategy which allows me to never need to make a transfer at GK (although this could change if I want to put funds elsewhere)

Everton's fixtures just so decent for such a long time and Bilva, though a lovely player IRL is not a great FPL asset. DCL would be the Everton player I'd look to lose if poss (lack of options at 6.0 though). Moura presumably out when Son comes back. Wolves don't concede many, but not great for CS either.

Looks like Maxi Gomez to WHU is happening - good time to be a Hammers fan!

Amen. All the analysis about how Chicharito could be a top player to have if Arnie leaves is rendered useless by Maxi Gomez coming in. West Ham look a 7tth contender with Gomez coming in

Chicharito also wants out, so I don't know why anyone would be analysing that

Any chance Winston Reid starts? He's been out a long time but was their best def until he got injured.

Zero chance mate. 4th choice at best we have Balbuena, Diop and Ogbonna all better

Diop and Balb will start most games unless there is an injury

Pity, Reid would be a steal at 4.0, loves a goal too

I've been keeping an eye on Reid too. Up to last season he was a decent pick

Got my eye on preseason but if Gomez and Christensen can secure starting roles this team is gold:

    Heaton/Hart/Pope
    Trent Digne Gomez Christensen
    Salah Siggy Fraser Zaha
    Aguero Wilson

    bench - dendonker kelly nketiah

    Opinions?
