Kane missing for Spurs as Guardiola starts Grealish and Mahrez

The most-anticipated Premier League fixture of the weekend sees reigning champions Manchester City take on Tottenham Hotspur, as Nuno Espirito Santo begins his reign as manager. (We’ll be following the match live and discussing key points in a live YouTube watchalong).

For the home team, Harry Kane (£12.5m) misses out completely with Son Heung-min (£10.0m) set to lead the line in his absence.

The South Korean international has impressed during pre-season and has an excellent record against Man City. In fact, he has only scored more goals in all competitions against Southampton.

Japhet Tanganga (£4.5m) starts at right-back, a role he was trialled in during last weekends friendly win against Arsenal, alongside Davinson Sanchez (£4.5m), Eric Dier (£4.5m) and Sergio Reguilón (£5.0m).

Dele Alli (£6.5m) features from the off, too, with new arrivals Bryan Gil (£6.0m) and Cristian Romero (£5.0m) both having to settle for a place on the bench.

As for Manchester City, new signing Jack Grealish (£8.0m), owned by 24.4% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, starts for the visitors in north London, with Riyad Mahrez (£9.0m), Ferran Torres (£8.0m) and Raheem Sterling (£11.0m) completing the forward line.

Kevin De Bruyne (£12.0m), meanwhile, is on the bench with John Stones (£5.5m) and Kyle Walker (£5.5m), while Phil Foden (£8.0m) misses out with a foot injury as expected.

Kick-off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is at 16.30 BST.

Levy won't hold out for average players. It'll have to be 150m+ in cash for him to even give the offer a look, as per my sources

TAA and Havertz to Tsimikas and Bruno?

Saw that Tsimikas was on some corners so thinking he could replace TAA in the short term.

Happy to go with an early wildcard anyway and could get Chelsea players back in when their fixtures are nicer.

He won’t get that many minutes to be honest. It’s a waste for everyone as United could do with offloading players it doesn’t need and Lingard will have a much better rest of his career at a club like West Ham where he’ll start and their style will suit his play better.

Line was that he preferred to stay and ‘fight for his place’ but no idea if that’s true

I’m tempted by Lucas, Pogba or Benrahma in place of potentially injured Gundo.

Pogba could be worth it for SOU game alone. I would expect position change when Sancho and Cavani start playing.

Lucas on the other hand looks like a nice punt considering his incoming fixtures.

Benrahma may have Lingard alike season in that positions, also good incoming fixtures with LEI potentially a goal fest.

Overall, probably Benrahma looking the most reasonable pick but what do I know…? Or Pogba now and potentially the next move in 2/3 weeks time?

Yeah I would really like to know about veltman. Deeney not sure. Amartey got a clean sheet so it would be unfair to drop him, could see him in a back 3. It’s veltman to a 4.5 def if he’s out again but I’m waiting for the pressers to make a decision

    Jota to Pog? Y/N

Jota is rotation fear after Firmino being decent. Gw3 is vs Chelsea and I expect Firmino to start that one. My team seems to be fit (Veltman only issue) and I am not planning to do Barnes to Benrahma this week anyway. Template seems to have done pretty well, so both Salah and Bruno look like they should be kept. FOMO is a factor, I admit 😉 Yet if Pog has these boots on, his price will rocket up. Save 1 ft now, or Jota to Pog and try to save one next week?

I've done this move. Seems sensible with those Man Utd fixtures and Pogba with flying confidence. Will look to move Pogba to a City midfielder hopefully in a few weeks as their team becomes settled.

Considering the same move with this lot:

      Sanchez
      TAA l Coufal l Ayling
      Bruno l Salah l Raphinha l Barnes l Jota
      Ings l Antonio
      Steele, Coady, White, Obafemi

Jota rotation risk. Pogback Nice fixtures. Nailed. First bandwagon of the season.

    3. Ibralicious
      • 9 Years
      2 years, 9 months ago

Not worth it IMO. Pog won't get you masterpieces week in, week out. He's definitely a winning pick when he's hot, but when you're getting returns from Jota, stay clear of a risk at that spot anyway

          It's the fixtures for me.

Southampton (A): Could be a horror show for the saints at St Mary's - getting to grips with the loss of huge players
Wolves (A): High line from what I've heard and still getting used to a new style and manager.
Newcastle (H): Looked extremely leaky and against this Man Utd squad on form and the potentially toxic atmosphere.

Pogba x Bruno double up looks fantastic for those three imo

Doesn't matter. He probably lost more fpl pts than gained. OGS was forced to let him take them to keep him happy, but Rashford got them eventually.

I think he was in fire after Jose got sacked and OGS came in. Earlier he was good like Zaha when playing for transfer. Yet now I have a gut feeling that if he MU plays this well he might have mentality to do his best. Spanish teams (financial issues) or PSG are probably not options for him.

What are we doing with jota, expected to move him for Gundo this week, but not now. On one hand firmino is back, on the other he’s off to Brazil in two weeks….

Greenwood too sideways with the Man U guys coming back, Gundo hurt, maybe move him for DCL for a Minus 4 (although that seems silly), what are other owners doing?

        Premium: Pogba, Greenwood,

Mid: Usual suspects- Benhrama, Raphinha, etc.

Budget: Canós (won't double up with Toney just yet), Sarr

I will wait until more news. If out, Benrahma for me.

Pep on Grealish after the match:

“He is so dangerous close to the box,” Guardiola said. “He has personality - it was an incredible debut.» (Eurosport)

Pep use to praise players he bench next game. Grealish bench vs Norwich?

Who knows anything with Pep anymore? Still can’t believe his tinkering for the Champions League final.

Unfortunately, now Grealish, Mahrez, Sterling could all face his wrath in the Norwich fixture

Saw a rumor that Arsenal plans want to protest their game next sunday vs Chelsea. If the fans do manage to get the game postponed does anybody know what will happen in terms of FPL?

do they have any good reason to postpone the game?

Depends on what the fans do. If they storm the field and dont let the game start then possibly?

He wasn't great. Another one who had a disrupted pre season and didn't quite look at it. I would expect the Villa team to improve week by week though - wouldn't burn a transfer on it with Newcastle at home up next.

Those who are knee jerking. Let me remind you this is not a sprint race, this is marathon.

You Are ditching some of them just after 1 week? Pogba can easily blank next game, and barnes/Shaw may easily score 10+.

That’s not the way it works on here.

Player x scored 10+ points this week, so he’s bound to score 10+ points next week.

Player y blanked this week so he’s bound to blank next week too, so I must get rid now.
