Who I think are the best Brentford players in FPL for Gameweek 10 onwards

After a high-variance, polarising week for many Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, we must now look ahead to Gameweek 10 and the new challenges it brings.

There are plenty of opportunities to make up ground lost in Gameweek 9 and I would like to talk about a team that have impressed me to no end this season: Brentford.

The Bees sit 12th in the Premier League table with 12 points, which is about what you would expect from a ‘good’ promoted side. However, the underlying numbers have not just been good, they’ve been great.

Before that, I would like to provide some context by mentioning that they were second bottom of the Season Ticker from Gameweeks 1-9.

However, let’s look ahead now to the next nine weeks:

Brentford sit right at the very top of the Scout ticker for the next nine Gameweeks. Gameweek 10 is a great entry point too, as the below image shows that their next three opponents, Burnley, Norwich and Newcastle. are in the bottom three for non-penalty expected goals conceded (xGC) this season.

Let’s have a look at Brentford’s attacking numbers over the last four Gameweeks. For context, they have played Liverpool, West Ham, Chelsea and Leicester over the aforementioned period. All four of these teams finished in the top six last season:

From the fantasy football app under set piece takers

"Kevin De Bruyne has taken all of Manchester City's Premier League penalties when he has been fit and available but Riyad Mahrez stepped up to take one in the Champions League tie against Borussia Dortmund in April, a match that also featured De Bruyne."

Exactly, "Riyad Mahrez stepped up to take one in the Champions League tie against Borussia Dortmund in April, a match that also featured De Bruyne." ... and Mahrez has taken them ever since, with KDB again on the pitch for several of them. He took them against RB Leipzig and Brugge this season with KDB there. No one else has taken a pen for City since Mahrez took one in April.

Jesus, Gundogan, Sterling, Foden, Rodri, De Bruyne have all missed penalties. Grealish didn’t take in shootouts for England. I can see Cancelo getting a chance.

It's slightly high risk IMO to have all four of Foden, Jota, James, Chilwell. Cancello is a bit of a risk too moving forwards despite playing all games so far and Mbeumo on a yellow flag

        Never understood "benching headache"
You actually have the benefit of greater choice.
We cannot help ourselves getting upset when there are points on the bench.
Think of it you have 11 players and 4 subs.

Yeah but that’s built by design due to jota, James, Foden etc being rotation risks

If you break my bench down price points it doesn’t feel bad

        4.0 gk, 4.0 def, 5.5mid, 5.0 striker

And gives me some decent flexibility

Agree. The realistic worst case scenario is that 3 outfield players are rested, which is why 3 decent subs take the risk away.

Sure - Mambino isn't joking though. Last season there was one GW towards the end where I had 3 City and Pep benched them all.

Yes, I am not joking Andy, but I am on the risk averse side. It isn't that it's not a strong bench, just that I could see 4-5 players potentially not playing and whilst it is less than probable it is more than possible. I would only pick one of Chilly or James and one of Jota or Foden for that reason, but it is a squad that could easily smash it if that doesn't happen.

I'm regretting getting James personally. I think he's great when he plays and there's always the chance of a haul, but if h's benched he seems always comes on. So having a good bench is irrelevant because you have to start him anyway, and could end up with 1 pt. If I was you I'd get Rudiger instead but that's just my 2c.

    Sarr (SOU)
    Son (MUN)

Very torn. Head says stick with Sarr due to the possible United bounce back. Also always nice to have 2 FTs. But Son upside higher?

If you have the cash I'd do it for free. I'm a Sarr owner and am concerned about his minutes under Ranieri.

Sorry if I've missed it, but what is the latest injury update with Lukaku please?

I can see FPL states 'unknown' but are there any rumours?

    Thanks

Hopefully. Might be a blessing in disguise as presents me with the perfect opportunity of getting TAA and Son.
