FPL Gameweek 34 Scout Picks: City and Chelsea triple-ups as United are ignored

We have chosen our best Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players for Gameweek 34 ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

We line up in a 4-3-3 formation and are limited to £83.5m for our first XI.

Our four substitutes, meanwhile, are always picked from the budget/cheaper crop of players, not to serve as bench fodder but to give some alternative options who don’t cost as much as some of the names in our line-up.

GOALKEEPER

The best FPL goalkeepers for a Double Gameweek 26 Free Hit 7

Burnley have given us a mixed bag when it comes to Double Gameweek returns this season but they signed off on a high on Thursday, winning to nil against Southampton. Fabled or not, the ‘new manager bounce’ has seen the Clarets pick up four points from a possible six in the post-Dychean era and there was a spring in their step against the Saints. Sunday’s opponents Wolves will be without Daniel Podence (£5.5m), arguably their only form player in attack and a quiet creative force in 2021/22. They were abject without him in Gameweek 32, indeed, so Nick Pope (£5.4m) will fancy his chances of successive shut-outs on Sunday.

DEFENDERS

→ How many FPL points did Aymeric Laporte register across Manchester City's three Double Gameweeks?

After weeks of Fabian Schar (£4.4m)-types making an appearance at the rear, we’re back to a reassuringly premium feel in defence.

So according to the article, Alonso is a slightly better option than James as Rüdiger replacement... Is there a consensus on this?

Yeah. He's playing further forward and has less change of being benched. Also on better form.

It’s a coin toss - the FPL Scout Selection went the other way. At a push, I’d prefer James, but only if you’re sure you can’t put the extra 0.8m to decent use

I did (b), but with weird Liverpool defenders - Matip/Konate, which is the cheapest way to get at least one who's gonna play. Only way to get KDB, Sterling, Mount, Havertz, Werner, Jota, Ronaldo in the side. Means no Salah, just gonna have to hope Jota can cover him.

Feel I need to get Salah back in - last week was painful with all my rivals having him. Have Kane and Son so one will have to go. What do you guys reckon looks best here:

    A) Son and Kilman - Salah and Fofana

Either would be for -4. TIA

Evening all - how do these moves sound? WC next GW. Thanks.

    Rudiger + Martinelli + Antonio >> James + Mount + Bench fodder (-8)

If you can save the bench fodder move, the rest seems good for -4. If not, I’m not sure -8 is worth it. I’d probably just do one transfer (if affordable).

You could gamble on Rudiger making game 2 and just do the Mount moves for -4. I’m just guessing here…your original plan could pay off even with -8. I guess it might come down to whether you’re leading/chasing in a league or are aiming for a high rank. If so, I’d be cautious about hits.

Cheers for advice. Most leagues I'm top so guess going for overall rank if about 10k. Could go with rudiger on bench and stick to mount and fodder. Will have a think.
