Fairly happy to start with this as Garnacho is locked in for a couple of weeks and happy to bench also at 5.0

    Pick
    Gab, Akanji, Estu
    Saka, Mart, Salah, Rashford, Garnacho
    Haaland, Pedro

    Turner, Cash, - fodder...

Got 1.0 left would you upgrade a defender, the bench or save?

I would use that to upgrade one of the defenders to Chilwell / Shaw.

Yeah was thinking about Shaw. James/Chilwell are probably coming in gw3

I'd downgrade Salah to Bruno and upgrade Garnacho, as he won't get enough minutes to justify his pace in the first 11.

I’m getting the itch to swap out Salah for Diaz after last night as an enabler for Kane. Any others with the same itch?

Diaz the more impressive one between him and Jota?

Diaz more nailed I'd say, but Jota is tempting me too. Snooze and you lose with Jota (like Camzy said on here last night) so there is a good case for going with him. Definately more upside if he starts

Good morning all. Any glaring issues with the below team?

    Onana
    Stones | Saliba | Estupiñan

    Haaland | João Pedro

SUBS: Turner | Cash, Kaboré, Mubama

I like it, although personally think one Brighton attacker is enough considering their fixture swing

That’s fair. Mitoma is an easy sideways move to another 6.5 midfielder if he doesn’t perform. Just think they might overwhelm Luton on the opening day.

      almost same as mine.
except - you not going to play Cash sooner or later, maybe Baldock/Beyer 4.0mil def ?
are you planning Stones to Chilwell in GW2 ?

Cash is mainly there to have at least one reliable option first on bench, but in certain fixtures I can start him as well.

Will definitely consider Stones > Chilwell after Chelsea’s opening two fixtures are out of the way, as I see them conceding in both.

This is where I'm at with the template.

Watkins and Henry or Pedro and Stones. Happy to leave 2m itb with the latter option but does leave a slight benching headache in GW1.

I need to look into the cheap 4.0m bench fodder. Anyone know the best option?

    Johnstone
    Gabriel Estupinan Chilwell
    Saka Mbeumo Bruno Rashford Martinelli
    Haaland Pedro/Watkins
    (Turner Stones/Stones Beyer/Baldock Mubama)

Obviously Watkins is more long term and Pedro short term (based on early fixtures)

    Hey all

Do you think the new added time rules swing things in favour of picking Ode over Martinelli?

Even last season, Martinelli played the equivalent of almost four games less than Ode (in terms of minutes played).

Based on an average of 5 mins extra added time per game, this adds a further 150+ minutes.

If Trossard gets more minutes/starts, the gap widens further still.

    1. The Iceman
      • 3 Years
      2 years, 9 months ago

You may have a point, but if Arsenal need goal(s) you’d assume attackers like Martinelli will have their pitch time extended regardless.

    2. WVA
      • 9 Years
      2 years, 9 months ago

Do you want points or minutes? When I watch them play Martinelli looks far more dangerous, I guess over a season they'll score similar but I'd rather start with Martinelli and 0.5 ITB

    3. Conners
      • 7 Years
      2 years, 9 months ago

I agree to some extent, but then you can't score or assist when you're not on the pitch (which is my point).

    4. bench boost for every gamew…
      • 9 Years

Ødegaard will also be hooked early, if the games last like with four more minutes effectively playing time, that will affect the 90 minutes players too.
I think we will see more of Ødegaard taken off at 60 if Arsenal lead by 3-0, sand with Saka. The depth of Arsenal attack is in a state which may cause less time for Ødegaard, not because he's not nailed, bit because of the sheer minutes of more playing time in total. My guess is that they are pretty safe in the first 4 games, until CL starts. Then Artata have the options to play Partey, Rice, Havertz, Nketia, Trossard, Saka, Jesus, Marti and Øde, for the six positions from midfield to striker.

it seems, that template team is in place and we all try to squeeze that 1 or 2 differential.
I would list just few of them that are particular interest of mine:
Kane -12.5 due to high price and potential move, low ownership but is a talisman for Spurs
Son - 9.0 underdog in new attacking team with proven record
    Foden - 7.5 Pep roulette
Akanji - 5.0 Gvardiol threat, but cheaper MCI def
Trossard - 7.0 when he plays he gets the points
Diaby - 6.5 great possible link with Watkins. alternative to other 6.5mids
Edouard - 5.5 Zaha replacement on the young fast team, great link with Eze
Jota - 8.0 price is uncomfortable but may prove his worth to FPL

do you have others that what to own as differentials but are not in your team now ?

Thats a good breakdown, I have a few of those on my list. I'd also add...

Buendia - has really impressed for Villa in pre-season. Scored and assisted a few and has clearly worked on his fitness/strength.
Bowen - not in my team but seen some mentions of him on here and could be a decent differential
Douglas Luiz - only 5.5 and contributes a fair few assists.

good point ab Maddison. haven't seen how Spurs lined up in pre-season. time will tell if he can fill Ericsson shoes.

the bayern deal has to get done or kane is staying put. if thats the case I just dont see how anyone could go without him. Conte was defensively minded and kane still got 30 goals (only 6 off haaland). ange is basically the polar opposite of conte if you go by his style at celtic and kane could go nuts. i fully expect him to be at 40+ percent owenrship by gw2 (if he stays)

This...and the conundrum then is how to approach the threemium. The respective prices for Kane Haaland and Salah doesn't make it viable I don't think. I've seen a few drafts but don't like them, so one of the three will have to go.

My team at the moment. WYS?

    Onana

they are both great. to me - simple eye check.
Ode always finds himself at the right time in the right place when ARS in attack. plus captain armband helps with min. he is growing into the team fast.

Marti/Saka drive attack spear and when def rebounced first attempt in the box, Ode uncovered by def sneaks into the net.

BrunoF, Kane even Mo play start to play deep but we all see their points in the end

dont understand the bit*ing and moaning over the added time rule and new yellow card punishments. this is completely on their heads for ridiculous time wasting, whether its screaming at officials, play acting /feigning injury, and keepers taking an eternity with their goal kicks (toons worst offenders taking 37 seconds on average for gk's and the ball in play for an average 51 mins total).

it had to be brought in. fans at the end of the day are paying to watch football. we poke fun at americans but I think they do have it right when it comes to stopping the clock and getting the most out of the time allocated for sporting contests. so much of what we actually watch at stadiums and on tv isnt actually football so Im glad they are trying to change that.

Only issue I have with it is the travelling fans are going to get even more shafted by public transport if games consistently finish 15-20 mins later, especially on weekdays.

Hopefully the players quickly learn and it reverts back to the norm relatively soon.

The impact on fans transport is a valid consideration also good point. Pay for parking or train tickets to allow for an hour overhang will be a new thing to grumble about.

The goalkeeper holding the ball too long is one of my biggest bug bears that they need to reign in.

I agree totally, the only problem I have is every year we have these new interpretations that just get brushed under the carpet after a month, like player conduct and time wasting. They’ve claimed directives but they seem to not be applied 3 months later. Teams surrounding refs and going off the pitch after injury an example.

FA need to stand by their guns or else they are not taken seriously

        All good points.
A rule was brought in restricting goalkeepers to holding the ball for 6 seconds - it was enforced for a couple of weeks about 2 decades ago then forgotten.
Two years ago the season started with any defender handball in the box being an automatic penalty. I was one of those mugs who wildcarded to get 7 penalty-takers in. Then the refs changed their minds about that 🙁
But I do support the principle of both changes (time and discipline) and hope to see a hundred cards in GW1.

Dont u think its better to go N.Jackson instead of Watkins since Nkunku is out for more... ?

Watkins has proven pedigree. I think Jackson is a wait and see.

My interpretation is the opposite. Jackson is a no-go and I've even dropped Chilwell. Without Nkunku's creativity, Chelsea's xG falls off a cliff imo.
