Our cup competitions take a break in Gameweek 15 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL), due to the swift turnaround between match rounds.
But we’ve got FFS Open Cup and FFS Members Cup results to bring you from Gameweek 14, as well as the draws for the next rounds in Gameweek 16.
A total of £600 worth of prizes are on offer across the two tournaments, with a full breakdown towards the bottom of this article.
A reminder that these cup competitions are independent from the ones that you can see on the FPL website.
*All ranks below were correct at the point of the Gameweek 15 deadline and will be updated when Gameweek 16 plays out
FFS OPEN CUP
The remaining three former champions – Wild Rover, A Manager Has No Name and donnellyc – all exited the FFS Open Cup at the second-round stage, meaning that there’ll be a new name on the trophy this season.
Dr Rabotnicki and Spectrum had relatively comfortable 17-point wins over Wild Rover and A Manager Has No Name respectively, while Minhquan0409 edged donnellyc 63-58.
Our highest-ranked manager, ulafhai, thumped thalliday1985 73-43 and moved up to 263rd in the world.
There’s only one other manager in the top 10k who made it through the second round: dankoottatep.
They breezed past Bandini and now face FPL Insanity in round three.
FDBISCUITS had the highest score of round two with an 87, which took them to within touching distance of the top 100k. The champion-conquering Dr Rabotnicki is up next.
bravo21 had claims of being the most unlucky manager of the second round, scoring a well-above-average 76 but having the misfortune of meeting bitm2007, who posted 85.
Ryan recorded the biggest winning margin with a 78-44 victory over minhbappe714.
Five managers, including moderator RedLightning, bowed out after ties, due to having inferior ranks to their opponents.
The full round two results can be viewed here.
The third round draw is available here.
FFS MEMBERS CUP
The former winners fared better in the FFS Members Cup.
Three of the four who entered this year’s tournament progressed.
Scrumper beat Ex_pat 66-58, rrcmc edged out THFC4LIFE by just four points, and Mohd Rodzi had a 57-44 win over Tangible.
Only Chaballer – who was defeated 77-55 by Germanrapha – fell at the first hurdle.
Next up for Scrumper, rrcmc and Mohd Rodzi are prbaker1980, sandgrounder and Boleyn Boy.
There was a ‘cupset’ involving our highest-ranked manager, MDAALLEN, who sits in 808th place in the world.
They were beaten 80-62 by Richardsp93, some 840,000 places further back in the rankings.
FPL JOGGER‘s thumping 80-41 win over TIERON NOBODY was the biggest of round one.
As was the case in the FFS Open Cup, FDBISCUITS’ score of 87 couldn’t be bettered – although FC Schongau at least matched it.
FDBISCUITS next faces Wilbs810, who takes over from MDAALLEN as the manager with the best overall rank (3,618).
Peteski29, one of four managers to be eliminated after a draw, was particularly unlucky as no-one scored as many points (76) while failing to progress.
The results from round one are here.
The second round draw can be found here.
HOW DO THE CUP COMPETITIONS WORK?
The FFS Cup is very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s own cup game.
Entrants who qualify for the first round were randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores).
In the event of a draw, the manager highest in the overall FPL rankings after the tie will progress.
