The Premier League cancelled the Luton-Bournemouth game to protect their image.

Then the TV presenters say the game was cancelled for humane reasons.

The people at home buy into these reasons and question nothing.

well Areola is meant to be Fab's replacement. But yea, I see why he would be dropped still.

If Areola doesnt start this GW, that is a pretty damning message to Areola. Maybe the kick up the backside he needs however.

West Ham have certainly not gone full strength Ogbonna, Mavropanos, Johnson, Fornals and Benrahma all starting. Think areola is part of the second string group now too

Remove the Carabao Cup, if you don't remove the Competition entirely at least remove the 2-leg tie's in the semi's.
    Don't swap the UCL format
    Remove FA Cup replays

Blimey. 38 Fixtures in the PL, 52 weeks in the year but still have to play midweek from time to time. Because 14 weeks "off" a year isn't enough is it?

      Agreed!

I’m not one for much sympathy for multi-millionaires but the 14 weeks off isn’t the reality.

Take off the 5 international breaks & then a 4 week tournament in the summer with build up and the very best players only have a 2-3 week off-season.

      1. Zenith UK
        • 7 Years
        6 months, 2 days ago

I know that's why I "air-quoted" 14 weeks off. Obviously pre-season and internationals, but my point being is, let's give them the standard "5.6 weeks off" like a normal worker, that's another EIGHT weeks for internationals and pre-season etc.

The point I was making you can play a whole season with 14 weekends (and weeks) to spare. Therefore one game 3/4 days in a 266 day period = 88 potential fixtures at a game every 3 days or 66 potential fixtures at a game every 4 days. I think one game every four days isn't too much to ask, and well, you're not playing 66 fixtures (domestic) a season are you?

        Let me quickly do some math;
        PL - 38
        UCL (standard format to the final) - 6 GS, 2xRo16, 2xQF, 2xSF, 1xF = 13
        FA Cup - (excluding replays) - 3rd, 4th, 5th, QF, SF, F = 6
        League Cup - 3rd, 4th, QF, SFx2, F = 6

63 games if you went to the final of all domestic and european cups (excluding community shield and super cup/club wc) - Maximum of two teams

Is my math right? Have I missed a round for any PL teams? My idea of ditching the SF two-tie leg only saves one fixture but brings it down to 62 games in a season.

I don't care about how much money they make but I care how much I pay for watching the matches. And I care about quality of football. Too many fixtures affect the quality way or another.

This has genuinely shown how awful the mindset of some people are on this forum, from both sides.

Think people need to take a step back and reevaluate priorities if they are this invested in a game it leads to a level of emotion which showcases dark side to them.

It’s interesting that there is so much consternation about the last GW. It seems clear that they are going let the window expire and process everything as-is (points stay, no bps). Not sure they even have the time to code a fix to do anything else without risking massive software issues.

Sold Haaland and have a bunch of money. Considering getting Trent but then it's hard to get Haaland, Salah and Son in a team with Trent, which will be an issue down the line.

Should I get someone like Gusto, who is half of Trent's price and still has some attacking threat, or should I just get Trent in and work out the money side later.

    1. Derbz87
      • 9 Years

I think it depends on when you want Haaland back. Everyone will have a lot of money knocking around when Salah and Son go because the only way is down in price in midfield alternatives and down a long way from Salah unless De Bruyne becomes an option.
