With another set of double fixtures looming in Gameweek 37 many in the Fantasy Football Scout community who have their second Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Wildcard intact are looking to use this Chip during Gameweek 36. As two Chips cannot be used in the same Gameweek, this tactic will enable them to use their Bench Boost or Triple Captaincy chips when the double fixtures take place.
This article will showcase the thoughts of a member of the community on their Wildcard and hopefully some of their key issues will mirror your own.
Feel free to use this article thread to put forward your Wildcard team and to help others with their Wildcard-related issues. Even if you have already used your Wildcard, this article should prove useful as you look to secure the best double Gameweek options.
Here’s Lateriser12 to go through his Gameweek 36 Wildcard plans
Wildcard Team
De Gea, Gomes
Cresswell, van Aanholt, Smalling, Bellerin, Jagielka
Hazard, Sanchez, Payet, Lanzini, Alli
Kane, Sturridge, Defoe
Strategy
My Wildcard team is set up to use my bench boost in Gameweek 37, with a view to securing good players with two fixtures as well as key single Gameweek players. Harry Kane, Alexis Sanchez, Dele Alli and Hector Bellerin all play just once but nevertheless look to be valuable assets. With an abundance of striker options and Champion League exertions to distract him I’m reluctantly saying goodbye to Sergio Aguero. Meanwhile, Europa league rotation is a factor in handing Roberto Firmino his redundancy papers.
Key issues
Single Cream
Is starting off with four single Gameweekers too many? Should I be looking to focus on more double Gameweek players? Or has Gameweek 34’s experience taught us that swerving good, in-form single Gameweekers can prove costly?
Ditching Firmino and Aguero
These two have been my favorite players this season. Having jumped on Firmino very early and having Triple Captained Aguero for Gameweek 34, I have a strong affinity to both. But not being assured of Firmino’s minutes and Aguero’s somewhat difficult fixtures makes me want to go for Jermain Defoe instead who also acts as a great enabler. Daniel Sturridge seems like a prime captaincy candidate as well. Should I compromise and keep one of Firmino and Aguero or am right to focus on more secure double Gameweek options.
Between the Sticks
In goal I’ll play Heurelho Gomes in Gameweek 36 and David De Gea in Gameweek 38. But are these the two best goalkeepers for the bench-boosted double Gameweek?
Hector’s House
Bellerin has retained his place due to strong fixtures for the run-in, with Norwich and Aston Villa taking on Arsenal either side of the double Gameweek. But are there better options? Are there any double Gameweek teams worth doubling up in defence, aside from Manchester United?
Bargain Hunting
With the above team I currently have 0.9m in the bank. Should I consider using that to improve on my current bargain basement candidates Gomes, Phil Jagielka, Manuel Lanzini and Alli. For example, is Troy Deeney a viable option, against an already relegated Villa side and now without the FA Cup to distract him?
