Best Chelsea players to sign on FPL in 2018/19 – Complete Members’ Analysis

Having won the Premier League in 2016/17, Chelsea’s performance statistics for their fifth-placed finish last season were unsurprisingly inferior to their title-winning campaign.

The Blues scored 23 fewer goals than they managed in the previous season and conceded five more.

Several of Antonio Conte’s players did, nevertheless, play a prominent part in many Fantasy managers’ 2017/18 campaign.

Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso were the two highest-scoring defenders in Fantasy Premier League, with Chelsea keeping as many clean sheets (16) as they did in their championship-winning season.

Eden Hazard, without hitting the heights of the previous campaign, and Alvaro Morata both recorded double-digit goal tallies, meanwhile.

Uncertainty over Conte’s future as Chelsea manager continues to dog the club and indeed Fantasy managers’ abilities to assess the Blues’ squad for the coming season, but in Azpilicueta, Alonso and Hazard at least the west London club possess three players who remain at the forefront of our thoughts.

Fantasy Football Scout members can read on to see our full analysis of the five-times Premier League champions.

Going to leave this lot for now:
    Courtois/Norris
Kompany, Lovren, Moses / Wan-Bissaka, Batth
Deulofeu, Hazard, Salah, Ramsey, D Silva
    Firmino, Zaha / Kamara
    /10?

5/10. Kompany, Lovren, and Hazard won't have a pre-season. Firmino won't play much for Liverpool in pre-season either and he could either a) not start b) start but get subbed off early and in either case if he doesn't get returns, he has a huge ownership and his price will drop. Not a fan of Zaha at 7m either, prefer Tosun and Arnautovic or just downgrading to a 6m and upgrading elsewhere.

Surely all 4 are essential for their clubs? Wasn't sure about pre-season, do all players from the WC get a rest??

If they're in the semi-finals they 90% won't start the first game. Kompany isn't essential for City. Firmino could start but it's a huge risk for the first game at least.

Holy moly I think I just stumbled onto a REALLY good team...

    De Gea

    Alonso Valencia Robertson Mendy

    Salah Jota Keita

    Tosun Ageuro King

Bench: 4.0 keeper, Cairney, 4.5 mid, 4.0 def

    Few notes:
    - I know theres been a lot of talk about value 4.5 defs but 100% im going with the most guaranteed season long points totals you can get in the game with premium defenders. Especially at the start of the season when top teams get great defensive returns.
    - This team is heavily skewed towards the start of the season with an eye to change things up or even wildcard in one of the two early int breaks after GW4 or GW8. Dont usually do this but with so many top FPL prospects still playing at the WC this season is unique.
    - Salah set and forget cap so if (still big if) Aguero is rotated its no biggie and I can easily change him to Aubbs/kaku/morata GW3
    - Keita might get a reaction so just gonna say I think he could do really well in the second most attacking and goal full team in the league with great early fixtures, will be a bonus point monster and might turn out to be very underpriced
    - Kings a bit of a punt but worth it for the fixtures i reckon and theres going to be a few others in that price range i dont have so easy swap if it doesnt work out

Any opinions? All help appreciated 🙂

Very poor team IMO. Ederson will outscore De Gea in the first 8 games and is 0.5m cheaper. Valencia is not worth 6m at all just look at his returns last season. Mendy won't have a pre-season and had a massive injury last season as well so he'll be eased in. Jota has very poor fixtures to start with, Keita is generally a poor pick. My advice is to at least get Ederson, pick only two premium defenders, upgrade Keita and one of your strikers.

I should have said De Gea is the exception to the early fixtures rule, he is set and forget season long. Easy done and no subs all season on keeper hopefully. Valencia was 4th top defender for points the whole season and is only nailed on Man U defender until Young returns. Double United defense is just smart, I know its not the hivemind on here but it is guaranteed points. Mendy has played 30 mins at world cup so will be straight back into it and playing GW1. Also nailed on and so attacking. Jota has 2 bad fixtures in first 9, not too bad for a potential OOP striker (atleast late in games he plays up front once they sub). Keita yea thats a punt, I think hes going to be massive. Im going premium defenders bro, you cant talk me out of it but thanks for the reply/thoughts 🙂 🙂

This is probably the worst team I've seen on here. Poor attacking mid/forwards. Poor subs and cheap players.

Ha ha, why don't you tell him what you really think? 😉

Seriously, I wouldn't be so harsh. It's well thought-out but I do largely agree with some of CR7's points, especially re Valencia.

Keita, however, intrigues me. He's too expensive for a punt; I'd put him on the watchlist until I see how Liverpool set up. Pre-season will give a big clue (altho Hendo will be missing).

Yep preseason pool games will be must view to see how Keita fits in but his attacking returns in past seasons are consistent and pretty plentiful. Add to that this liverpool team will score a lot of goals this season (seocnd only to city i reckon) and he could be a good punt

Salah and Kun are the best attacking mids/forwards in the whole comp and the other 4 while could be punts have great fixtures and are talisman for their team (excpet Keita who I think will become one). You cant go wrong getting in teams main men talismen up front.

Poor subs is right but its on purpose. CAirney will be the only one that sees any game time but the 4.5 mid will definitely be a starter so can chip in if needed and im confident their will be a 4.0 getting time in the early GWs.

Haha thanks bro, this team is based on notes I have taken for myself during last year and after my end of season review of my team. It might be based a bit on hindsight (ie if you started last season with 4-5 premium defenders youn killed) but what else do we have to go on really?

    Here's my first post.

    McCarthy/Fabianski
    Azpilicueta/Cedric/Jagielka/Tomkins/Daniels
    Salah/Sane/Mkhi/Cairney/Masuaku
    Aguero/Firmino/Zaha

3-5-2 formation, thinking maybe Daniels > Bednarek and Cairney > Deulofeu

    1. CR7alwachi
      • 5 Years

Bin Masuaku because he isn't nailed and has a huge ownership, 4.4m by September. Overall I think it's a very well-balanced team and fair play if you can get the rotation right at the back, otherwise you'll have a mare. 7.5-8/10 team for me.

Final for me. Can't see many goals in final but I'm going to go heavy on playoffs once I see the lineups. All it takes is a 1-0 result with a header of a defender and you've nailed a 12 pointer

    First RMT of the season:

    Ederson/Begovic
    Alonso/Matip/Holebas/Daniels/Zanka
    Sane/Silva/Sanchez (c)/Jota/Sessegnon
    Firmino/Tosun/King

    Any thoughts?

I like most of it. I actually have the same two GKs. And I love having set piece takers, so I think King, along with his easy initial fixtures, is a good choice. For now, Tosun is also good, but Everton may buy another ST. Just warning you about City WRs; Mahrez will most likely sign and Silva is probs gonna play less at his age. Sanchez is also unproven at Utd, so I'd wait til preseason. Also be wary of WC players who have gone far like Firmino possibly

I've gone off Daniels. Times have changed, I feel Tomkins is better value. I like the rest apart from Wood, I just don't think they score enough do Burnley

Ha, I concur re Daniels. BOU have been disappointing defensively for too long and with no managerial change I can't see anything different. I'm on Tomkins too.

Wood is, I think, the best option at 6.5. His was scoring pretty regularly by the end of the season, so I think he's fine for coming off the bench. The main concern is which Burnley players will miss PL games due to Europa.

I think will find early wildcards this season.
With doubts over the return of World cup there will be a lot of teams picking guaranteed starters before the real sides they want.
My side picked on thus basis so far is:
    Forseter Pickford
    Cedric Coleman Robertson Douglas (4.0)
    Sale Walcott Jota Dilva Salah
    Austin Auba (4.5)
    Agree with my assumption?

    1. Andy_Social

      Your assumption - yes.
      Therefore, options are:
Start like you without WC restees and wildcard early.
Start like you without restees and patiently use transfers.
Start with the restees and have good bench cover - that's my intention so that I can hold on to my wildcard for longer.

      Your draft -
If you mean Forster, he seems to have lost his place to McCarthy.

        But I will change. Thanks.
As far as options are concerned, restees may drop in price and significant bench cover difficult with 100mil. Thought process good but concerned having to make a lot of early changes.

Perhaps the Chelsea article should have been kept back until much nearer season start. Actually they probably all should, at least until the world cup was over

For me too risky to have 2x4m defenders, especially if they don't start. I like my bench to still be playing, so that if, say, TAA doesn't feature GW1 you have cover.

I still think there is value there.

I would much rather pick say Fraser(5.5m) than Jota or Sessgnon(6.5m). Especially early doors.

Wilson/King can also add value. Nice opening fixtures.

            Their def I won't touch.

For me I'm happy to take a punt on a promotee for 4th or 5th mid. I stubbornly avoided all 3 promoted teams last year and lost out on the like of Mooy and Gross. I'll chance a Jota, a Sessingnon or a Cairney over guaranteed mehness this time. I do agree Bou have better value in mid/fwd than in defence though.

Yeah, I was on Mooy early doors and missed Grozz most of the season. Big boo boo.

    What you guys think?

    Ederson
    Mendy, Kiko, Yoshida
    Salah, Ramsey, Martial, Walcott
    Aguero, Lacazette, King

    Subs: Button, Sakho, Cairney, Schelotto

Staying away from WC players until a few weeks in.

        Could do,

        Kiko > TAA/Lovren
        King > Austin

Pre-season will help with that. Don't think there are other forward options within the 6.5/6 bracket.

Zaha looks tasty for fixtures but dk if he's worth the 0.5 upgrade

Dont agree on the basis that spurs will be decimated from the world cup...

Sanchez through the middle in rashford & Lukakus absense...

Silva a more likely starter due to Sterling and KDB absense...

Sanchez could explode GW 1-2 before Lukaku is back. I'm putting Sane in as a place-holder for KdB, but Silva would be good short-term too.

So, I'm chasing around 16P from #1 and thinking going full differntial.. is this a good idea?

    Team right now:

    Kane Mbappe Neymar*
    Cout* Modric Lingard Bentancur* Inui*
    Vida Lovren Pavard Trippier Granq*
    Subasic Alisson*

    Thinking of doing
    Neymar > Giroud
    Kane > Hazard
    Cout>KDB
    Bentancur>Pogba
    Granq > Maguire/Hernandez

Think it might better go all in and have a shot at that KIA rather than play safe and bring Lukaku/griez and keep Kane.

    Thoughts?

Giroud the only real differential I see but I think it's a good idea, yeah.

Your biggest bet is to (c) a differential so go with Giroud the first day.
