Liverpool and Man City to contest Gameweek 30 captaincy debate

The Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 30 captaincy debate looks set to be between title rivals Liverpool and Manchester City.

Mohamed Salah (£13.4m) has opened up an early lead in the latest captain poll on our site, but there’s a long way to go before Saturday’s deadline.

You can now vote in the poll either in the embedded widget below or in the side-bar of the site.

Also, we have published a Gameweek 30 captaincy video that can be viewed below or on our YouTube channel.

Sergio Aguero (£11.8m) appears to be the only option that can seriously challenge Salah this weekend.

Manchester City are hosting Watford in Saturday’s late kick-off, with a large margin of victory expected.

Aguero himself has seven goals in his last three home Premier League matches, while the Hornets let in five on their last away trip.

For that reason, Raheem Sterling (£11.4m) is also a contender for the armband this weekend.

Despite blanking in five of the last six Gameweeks, Salah is still proving popular in the poll ahead of Burnley’s visit to Anfield.

The Clarets have recently regressed following the upturn in defensive potential brought about by Tom Heaton‘s (£4.8m) return.

They have lost their last two in a row, conceding five goals in the process.

That means that Sadio Mané (9.8m) and Roberto Firmino (£9.2m) may also play a part in the captaincy debate for their owners.

Other sides with appealing home fixtures include Leicester City, who host Fulham, and Crystal Palace who face Brighton in a Saturday lunch-time derby.

Jamie Vardy (£8.9m) will, therefore, be considered as a differential option while Michy Batshuayi (£6.5m) has also turned some heads.

Harry Kane (£12.4m) might also come into the thinking of some managers as well as Son Heung-min (£8.9m), for any confident that Spurs can get a win at Southampton.

    I have exact money to do my two transfers (Bennett to Alexander-Arnold and Rashford to King) so if Rashford drops tonight, and it's looking like he might, I'll be priced out. Would you take a risk and do that transfer early? Or just get Callum Wilson instead of King in that case? What is the story with Wilson, is he looking likely to play at the weekend?

      Howe said he is in full training again, and it's just about match fitness for him.
      I was surprised he wasn't in the squad for the City game, but then seeing how they set up, and how much work they had to do off the ball I can see why he was left out.

          I hope so. Assume they will go back to playing how the started the season with Wilson and King up top, now the fixtures have swung for them.

          It's a major dilemma for me.
          Current front three is Rashford, Jimenez and Wilson, obviously two of them blank in 31/33, so I need Wilson to play, as I already have 5 defenders for 31, and planned to bring in Hazard and Mane to play a 5-4-1 in GW31.

      -8 as long as they're expected to play GW33 as well. Any midfielder with carrynig some attacking potential should at least return 4 points over the 2 GWs bar any yc's, so risk of loss of points is low.

      currently can get to 11 with no hits.
      if one of my big hitters gets injured then i'd take a -4 but eg Fabs gets injured not sure i'd bring in a keeper for a hit

        Even if the keeper you brought in just played both games 31/33, then the hit is repayed, with the potential for save/CS points as a bonus.

          still think it's stretch timewise between 31 and 33 to guarantee some players are going to play both games, There's another GW and an international break to consider.

      After this week's free transfer I'll have 11, and my wk31 transfer for emergencies or a vanity transfer. I've taken a hit most weeks leading up to it though. Some have paid off e.g. Haz, Vardy, Barnes, Mane. Some haven't e.g. Felipe Anderson. A few I've been left with by default e.g. Fabianski, Digne, Chambers, Salah, Robbo.
