Captain Sensible – Aguero and Salah in close call for Gameweek 30

Liverpool and Manchester City options look to be the key players in the Gameweek 30 captaincy debate.

Both sides face crucial home fixtures in the Premier League title race and some of their key players have a strong case for the armband.

The Captain Sensible article is here once again to analyse the data of these assets in plenty of detail, as well as the attacking statistics of their teams and defensive capabilities of their opponents.

Captain Poll

In one of the closest calls of the season, it’s been neck-and-neck between Mohamed Salah (£13.4m) and Sergio Aguero (£11.8m) all week in the captain poll. The Egyptian took the lead on Monday but by late Tuesday, the Manchester City man had overtaken him.

At the time of writing, Salah is back on top but not by much. Ahead of Burnley’s trip to Anfield, he has the backing of 28.7% while Aguero has 28.67%.

The secondary options from both clubs are also in the top five with Raheem Sterling (£11.4m) garnering 10% support and Sadio Mané (£9.8m) on 4%.

Jamie Vardy (£8.9m) is the only member of the top five not to play for Liverpool or Manchester City. With Leicester hosting Fulham on Saturday afternoon, the forward has the backing of 4.5% in the vote.

The differential options for Gameweek 30 include some important candidates from previous rounds of fixtures. Paul Pogba (£9.0m) is the best of the rest with 2.3% while Harry Kane (£12.4m) has 1.87% support.

Wilfried Zaha (£6.8m), Eden Hazard (£10.8m) and Patrick van Aanholt (£5.4m) and Michy Batshuayi (£6.5m) are the only other options with more than 1% backing.

Patricio was a one off, and it was announced ahead of time. That`s his first benching of the season. And the CPL keeper situation is also unique. Your argument is dumb and poor.

I understand "Points over Value" but if you don't have the Value, you won't be able to buy the Quality players you need when free-hitting and wildcarding to get you the Points.

This is not the time of the season to be concerned about value - you either have it or you don’t. The real question is do you hold players you have value tied up in, or do you sell them and cash in? There is a hot topic on this which I think clearly concludes that now is the time to profit from the price rises and look to the best value assets for the immdiate upcoming GW’s

I suppose it's a matter of convincing yourself selling these players is the right thing to do.

If you don't want a player back selling him is actually gaining the Value incremented/earned over him.

Then I'd hold some & sell the one's who can be brought back with less damage.
Actually managing FT is also an issue imo.
I have sold bench player's so can bench Pogba & Doherty over 31-34

That's because some people just set up a team purely to build team value, so they can top the team value table on the front page of FPL website.
To get that team value they take 10 hits every week to get any player who is rising in price.

For those doing the FHgw32 strategy, whats the verdict on Doherty?

    - can sell him at 5m...but will i need him back in dgw32 (bur, MUN)..not a great dgw to be fair
    - but fixtures from gw34-37 look good.
    - dgw35 of BHA and ARS looks really good imo with 2 home fixtures. i could always bring him back on gw34 WC but will likely cost 0.3m/0.4m more

    I am stuck between doing
A: Digne >> TAA and starting schindler in gw31/33
B: Doherty >> TAA and starting Digne in gw31/33 but means missing out on doherty in dgw32 and potentially paying 0.3m more to get him in on WCgw34

What are people doing in 31 and 33 that don't have a WC for 34 in prep for DGW. I am thinking of just putting out 8 for 31 and 33, as long as the template is not too far off shouldn't be a disaster in terms of losing points fielding 8?

Don’t get me wrong Brooks is good value and has excellent fixtures coming up.

But BOU are not flat track bullies. Last time they met HUD at home it was a close 2-1 and Brooks got only appearance points, withdrawn at 61mins

Don’t forget it was only GW28 that HUD kept a CS vs WOL at home so they can organise themselves when needed

This is more for my benefit and thinking but this is why I am unsure re rushing in Brooks even though I know he’s the people’s choice

    Fredericks or Rice?

The info Ive got so far is that Fredericks seems to have higher chance of attacking returns, but has a semi-threat of Zabaleta, while Rice is nailed as defensive mid/DC.

Trying to figure out whether i would need Doherty on FHgw32. From what i can tell:
    - City, Chelsea and ManU have good dgw32 fixtures but dont think my team value is high enough to get a defender from each
    - Apart from these 3, which other teams would have good dgw32 fixtures?
    - If i am sure i wont need doherty in gw32, then i am more then happy to take him out

I suspect I can live without him in 32, but I'll want him in 35 though

I seem able to get by with Jimi & Doherty on my bench, so they can stay their til I WC in 34 .......... dunno if your situation is similar ?

Initial plan was to keep Doherty, pogba and jimmy on bench and I can still do that.

If I keep Doherty, my transfers this week would be digne > TAA but Everton starting to show form or Hayden > brooks but that means no pool defence this gw which has hurt me a lot.

Palace (Schlupp possibly) firmly on my radar. Huddersfield at home then Spurs away.

Yeah, he's on my watchlist too - great form matched by underlying stats. Pay attention, Doherty

We don’t know who is playing in 32 yet but, if as predicted, Brighton and Southampton will have OK fixtures I think

think i'm selling as showing least form of the other players i have blanking 31/33.
If i decide i need a Wolves defender later would probably go for one of the cheaper options or straight swap Doh back for Peirera if Leicester don't improve
Also feel i'm less likely to go 4 at the back as season gets nearer the end.
