Captains

Captain Sensible – No leading option for Double Gameweek 35

It looks like Fantasy Premier League managers will have the opportunity to use a differential captain for green arrows in Double Gameweek 35.

Just as was the case in the previous two Gameweeks, there is no one standout candidate for this round of fixtures, which significantly reduces the risk of going against the grain.

In fact, such is the nature of the schedule over the next few days that even a handful of single Gameweek options can make a strong case for the armband.

As usual, we’re here to analyse each player to help you find the best captain…

As this article uses Opta data, the main bulk is only accessible to Fantasy Football Scout members.

Captain Poll

Once again, there is no clear and obvious favourite in the Fantasy Football Scout captain poll. Currently in the lead is Wolves striker Raúl Jiménez (£6.9m) but he has just 26.35% of the vote at the time of writing. He is certainly not a bad choice with five goal involvements in as many Premier League outings. Double Gameweek 35 has probably been the kindest on Wolves, who have two favourable fixtures coming up. At first, they host Brighton, who seem to have sleepwalked into the thick of the relegation battle, before Arsenal come to Molineux. The Gunners have just one clean sheet on the road this season, while Wolves, and Jiménez in particular, tend to do better against the bigger clubs.

Soaring into second place after an impressive display in the Champions League midweek is Raheem Sterling (£11.5m). He has five goals in his last four league matches and also has two fixtures in Double Gameweek 35. They pit Manchester City against Spurs (home) and Manchester United (away).

Such is the support for the defending champions despite difficult fixtures, that Sergio Aguero (£11.7m) is currently third in the captain poll. His one goal since Gameweek 28 is not of huge concern to the voters as he has 14.87% backing at the time of writing.

Son Heung-min (£8.8m) heads up a very tightly-packed contest to be the best of the rest for Double Gameweek 35. His support of 5.95% is only just a little more than Mohamed Salah (£13.2m) on 5.84%. While the Spurs man has two fixtures, against Manchester City (away) and Brighton (home), this is where we see how many managers are concentrating on single Gameweek players.

Salah and his Liverpool colleagues travel to Cardiff, who have conceded at least two goals in every match played against top-six sides this season. The Bluebirds shipped four when they went to Anfield in Gameweek 10, with Salah producing a goal and two assists. Furthermore, the Egyptian looks like he could be back to his best after his spectacular strike against Chelsea on Sunday ensured he had goals in back-to-back league games since Gameweek 23. Sadio Mané (£10.1m) is also in the top 10 with 3.55% support.

Arsenal’s Double Gameweek fixtures aren’t too bad as they face Crystal Palace (home) and Wolves (away). However, uncertainty over Unai Emery’s team selection is probably why none of their options backed by more than 4.41% in the captain poll. That honour falls to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.9m), who has a backed by just a few more than colleague Alexandre Lacazette (£9.4m) on 2.77%.

Kevin de Bruyne (£9.7m), Eden Hazard (£11.0m), Andre Gray (£5.9m), Gerard Deulofeu (£5.6m), Christian Eriksen (£9.3m) and Lucas Moura (£6.8m) are the only other options on 1% or more.

If you can use the money to get in Liverpool defenders etc., downgrade to Shane Long.

If you have someone else you can downgrade (Duffy to Valery/Yoshida/Bednarek is a good one), use that money to upgrade to Callum Wilson.

He could be. It is always a possibility with him but I doubt it in this fixture.

Before the end of the season I think he'll miss one. Jomez is back and he may get played back in. There is also a chance taa gets a nice benching early and is the only pool defender to get a cs one week.

Can't see it this week though

Really not sure which is best here..

    1. Erik-> KDB (and just hope he can cover Sterling).
    2. Erik-> Sterling + Duffy-> Cathcart (or 4.5m) -4.
    3. Erik-> Sterling + Vardy-> Rash/Wilson/Llorente. (8.9m) -4.

    BB.
    Lloris, Foster.
    Kola, TAA, Dunk, Duffy, Bednarek.
    Mane, Eriksen, Son, Jota, JWP.
    Vardy, Aguero, Jimenez.
    1ft, 2.1m.

I'd personally be very tempted by C but it's risky

Deeney didn't play on GW9, 10, 11, and made a bench appearance on 12, but that's Success who started in place of him. Not Gray. Was Gray injured? or tactical?

Tactical I think but he seems more I’m favour now. Watford fan forums seem confident Gray will start

Don’t shoot the messenger if he doesn’t play but I’ll be putting my money where my mouth is and going for him

Hey, first post all season. It’s crunch time in my mini league with 10 points between the top 3. Here is my BB team:
    Foster (Lloris)
    Kola Doherty Bednerak (Dunk Duffy)
    Sterling Mane Jota Erikson Son
    Aguero Jiminez (Murray)
    ITB 0.9
    A) GTG save FT for Salah next week
    B) Duffy to Trent
    C) Murray to Wilson
    D) Other transfer

Only for this week, who? (No more wolves quota)

    A) Cathcart (HUD, SOU) (not completely nailed for both games)
    B) Masina (HUD, SOU) (nailed for the first game i believe, which has a high chance of clean sheet)
    C) Valery/Yoshida (new, wat) (=triple saints def)
    D) S.Cook (FUL)
    E) Roll the ft and stick with Duffy (2x bha def right now)

A or E for me, triple Southampton is too risky and there’s no point swapping a double GW player for a single.

    Deeney & Duffy - > Wilson & Yoshida (-4)?

Really don't fancy Gray, Llorente, Ings etc.

If you don’t want Gray/ Llorente then that’s definitely the move.

im really coming around to Deeney -> Gray no hit
