Community Tournaments

This new article separates the “Community Tournaments” section from my regular Gameweek Guide. There are a number of reasons for doing this but principally because the Gameweek Guide is becoming too long.

And it seems an appropriate week to start the new round-up with the launch of the Head-to-Head leagues. MIR announced earlier today that the FFS Head-to-Head leagues are now live! The early leader in League 1 is Owen Walker (aka Zan Keroski) with 12 points from four wins.

Owen is in his eighth FPL season and has an impressive three top 1,000 finishes with two more in the top 10k. He qualified for League 1 in the Head-to-Head by virtue of being number 13 in the FFS Career Hall of Fame.

Gareth Mantle is still top of our Fantasy Football Scout mini-league and is up to ninth overall. Gareth used his Free Hit chip on his way to a Gameweek score of 75. He’s played a chip in each of the first four Gameweeks and will surely find it difficult to maintain such a high ranking.

Level on points with Gareth is Gary Tokatlian. Gary takes second spot in the mini-league because he’s made two transfers to Gareth’s one. Gary gained 79 points after playing his Wildcard in Gameweek 4, when he successfully brought in and captained Aguero. This is his sixth FPL season, his best previous finish being 9,289th in 2015/16.

There are currently 43,213 managers participating in the Fantasy Football Scout mini-league, to join them enter code ooyz44 in your Leagues’ section on the FPL site.

Marie Skomedal is the new leader of our FFS Members mini-league after playing her Wildcard for a Gameweek score of 75. Like Gary, she also brought in and captained Aguero. This is only her second FPL season and she is now 398th overall. Aside from her Wildcard, Marie has all her chips intact. In second place, 8 points behind, the previous leader Tom Foster has not used any chips at all.

The code to join the FFS Members League can be found on the Members page

In TorresMagic’s Last Man Standing the safety score for Gameweek 4 was 40 points, this saw 221 managers eliminated. In Gameweek 5 the threshold for elimination is raised to 6%.

Over 4,600 people have entered this year’s competition so far, and a total of 893 have departed already. It is possible to enter up until Gameweek 22 using the code bcvy39, however you must pass all the previous safety scores to qualify. Aside from bragging rights, the winner will receive a free Fantasy Football Scout Membership for the 2020/21 season.

It’s all change in FFS Mods & Cons mini-league where Dan Laidlaw (aka Legomané) is now one point ahead of Neale Rigg (aka Skonto Rigga). Dan’s Gameweek score of 62 included double-figure returns from Kevin De Bruyne and Trent Alexander-Arnold. This is Dan’s fifth FPL season, with a best previous finish of 1,006 in 2016/17.

Mark Taylor is the new leader in RedLightning’s Top 10k Any Season mini-league. Up to 640th overall, Mark is yet to use any chips. This is his 14th FPL season and his best end-of-season rank came in 2012/13 when he finished 4,610th. Managers with a top 10k finish may join the league using the code m0tq9y.

Bayer Neverlosin takes over at the top of in Chaballer’s Top 1,000 HoF League. A triple-up on Manchester City attacking players contributed 48 points to his score of 83 in Gameweek 4. Bayer is 2,678 in the overall standings. Managers in the top 1,000 of this site’s Career Hall of Fame may enter the league using the code beeps2.

2016/17 champion Ben Crabtree retakes the lead in the exclusive FPL Champions League. Richarlison’s 15 points, courtesy of two goals and all three bonus points, was no doubt particularly enjoyable for the Everton fan. Moving into second spot is 2014/15 FPL winner Simon March (aka Dufflinks), who also runs the mini-league for former FPL champions.

After an excellent Gameweek 19, Svein Johansen came crashing back down to earth in Gameweek 20. His 28 points was below the 36-point average. He nonetheless holds a 15-point lead in the FFS Eliteserien mini-league, but drops from sixth to 11th overall.

Eirik Pedersen holds onto second while Luke Dyer climbs to third. It was a low-scoring week for members of the FFS mini-league with Luke the only manager in the top four to beat the average score.

Daniel Sebestyen reclaimed top spot in the FFS Allsvenskan mini-league with a solid 67 points after playing his second Wildcard. Last week’s leader Henrik Mäkitalo drops to second. Daniel had a number of issues going into Gameweek 22 with five players either suspended, dropped, or injured. His reinvigorated line-up pushed him up to fifth overall, 14 points off first place.

It was a disappointing round for Henrik who played his Attack! Attack! chip, when all forwards score double points. Frustratingly, his three strikers only managed a total of 18 points between them. Still in third place is Simon Eriksson 20 points behind Henrik. Simon is tenth overall, Henrik is sixth.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round-Ups, please email us a summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spreadsheet or head-to-head competition at geoff@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk

With thanks to RedLightning and Meltens for their help in getting this article together.

TopMarx Fan of Fantasy Football and Monty Python. "Archimedes out to Socrates, Socrates back to Archimedes, Archimedes out to Heraclitus, he beats Hegel. Heraclitus a little flick, here he comes on the far post, Socrates is there, Socrates heads it in! Socrates has scored! The Greeks are going mad, the Greeks are going mad! Socrates scores, got a beautiful cross from Archimedes. The Germans are disputing it. Hegel is arguing that the reality is merely an a priori adjunct of non-naturalistic ethics, Kant via the categorical imperative is holding that ontologically it exists only in the imagination, and Marx is claiming it was offside. Point of order Mr Speaker - is it best to refer to these generically as "community competitions" (or similar) rather than "community tournaments" - this will avoid confusion when referring to the big main community tournament, which I imagine most think of when hearing the phrase "community tournament".
