Spot the Differential – Gameweek 15

We scour the budget bracket ahead of this morning’s deadline in the hunt for some cut-price midfield inspiration. All three of our selected players are available for under the 6.0 and have some favourable fixtures this weekend and beyond to potentially take advantage of.

Pablo Hernandez

Back in the Swansea City fold after finally recovering from a thigh injury, the Spaniard has now started each of the last two for Michael Laudrup’s side. Hernandez’ class was more than apparent earlier in the season when he racked up 20 points over the first three Gameweeks before succumbing to a hamstring problem and, whilst he’s yet to produce any further returns, the former Valencia man has three kind-looking matches in the next five Gameweeks to get his season back up and running.

Up next for the Swans is a home clash against Hull tomorrow and, with Laudrup’s men scoring three or more in all but one of their last four at the Liberty, Hernandez’ endeavours on the left could prove to be the undoing of Steve Bruce’s side. With Norwich and Villa also on their agenda before the turn of the year, the Spaniard – coming in at 5.7 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), 6.5 in the Sky Sports game and 3.0 in the Sun Dream Team – looks a decent mid-price shout for those who reckon he can replicate his outstanding August form.

Nathan Redmond

Norwich’s summer signing first arrived on our radars back in Gameweek 3 after producing an 11 point return at home to Southampton. Redmond quickly found himself forced out of Chris Hughton’s starting line-up a couple of games later, but with first-choice wide men Anthony Pilkington and Robert Snodgrass both recently sidelined through injury, he’s grabbed his second chance with both hands.

Redmond’s pace on the flank has posed plenty problems for opponents of late and helped the wide man pick up an assist against both Newcastle and Liverpool over the last three Gameweeks. With five favourable fixtures in the upcoming six (wba, SWA, sun, FUL, cpl) Redmond – at 4.6 in FPL and in the Sky Sports game and 1.5 in the Sun Dream Team – is handed the chance to continue his recent impressive showings down the Canaries’ flanks.

Pajtim Kasami

The Fulham midfielder has offered a real consistency of game time which has proven almost unrivalled in the budget bracket. Coming in at just 4.5 in FPL (and 4.2 in the Sky Sports game), Kasami has started all but one of his side’s first 14 fixtures and, crucially, has been subbed off in just one of his 13 starts – back in Gameweek 5 away to Chelsea, with just six minutes left on the clock.

Significantly, Kasami has demonstrated a keen eye for goal which has already come to fruition twice, with strikes against Sunderland and Palace bolstering his cut-price appeal. With Martin Jol now gone and Rene Meulensteen at the helm, the Swiss international is poised for a kind run of matches which may well help him climb up the Fantasy rankings. A home game against Villa this weekend is supplemented by clashes against Norwich, Hull, West Ham and Sunderland in the next seven Gameweeks – suggesting that the upcoming run of matches will be critical to the new manager’s success.

Myhill. Southampton are a better side than Norwich. And Anichebe is more dangerous than Aguero. Plus we're at home.

It's that time of year when people with good team value post their line ups and I realise I'd be an entire player short of affording the same 😆

One of these seasons I'll have to adopt the tactic of building early value and see how it goes for me.

      I have both.
      I'm captaining Aguero.

      Reasons
      1. Gazzinga looks incredibly likely to concede.
      2. Injuries to both Southampton defence and Wanyama tells me that the normal way that Southampton are solid in their own half won't quite be as good.
      3. The same gut feeling that said suarez will do well last week.

Team value and rank should always be considered together IMO.

110m TV with a rank of 1.5 million is meaningless.

      Hence, TV is 106.5

      Rank is 2.1k

      Happy with both

For me it depends if I play walcott or bench him.. if I play him so I have Walcott and Ramsey then I will bench Coleman and hope for no clean sheet for Evertong.. or I bench walcott and play Coleman.. So in my opinion it kind of depends how much Arsenal attacking cover you have, if your aim is biggest score possible and not a safe score that is:)

With the likes of Boruc and Wanyama injured and poor fixtures is it now time to bail on the once secure Southampton defence?

If it's Shaw or Clyne, I guess one should stay. Unless there are no pressing transfers anywhere else.

For Lovren and Fonte there's much better value to be found elsewhere.

I think (if he's not badly injured) you could bench the likes of Clyne and play as fixtures dictate.

Your not going to get much better value than that.

But, single saints keeper strategy needs to go (for now)

I would not currently pick them in a WC as they have become more expensive and there has been a drop off in form and fixtures. Not likely to be a priority for me to shift shaw as my 4th defender before jan WC however. The pressing style they adopt will continue to perform ok over the course if the season though doubt they will get on another roll like they had been on

    Remy, Suarez, Aguero (c)

I've taken a punt on Aguero (c) since it looks like most have gone for Suarez. Hopefully it pays off!

Suarez has 10 goals and 2 assists in 4 home games. West Ham has Reid missing.

Even with Southampton's issues, City are away from home. Balance of probability is in the favor of Suarez.

      Sell Migs.

Some suggest sell Rémy. I wouldn't. Last round was the first one since GW 2 that Newcastle didn't score at least one. In parallel, ManU have had only one clean sheet since since GW 4 against Palace at home. When Newcastle scores, Rémy has been involved in 66.67% of all Newcastle goals, so it is more than likely that if and when Newcastle gets at least one goal, Rémy will get points from it.

Note that the two first GW's that Newcastle didn't score in, Rémy was injured, and he climbed from bench to assist their first goal of the season on GW 3. Last round was the first with Rémy where Newcastle didn't score, and Rémy scored a goal at Everton and Tottenham as well as against Chelsea this season.

So, I think, that Rémy being at points tonight is the third safest bet of all striker scorings, the two first being your other two strikers.
