Dugout Discussion

The Dugout Discussion – Sunday

The Gameweek continues with a pair of Sunday afternoon encounters, beginning with Tottenham’s trip to South Wales as they take on Swansea, before Chelsea and United see us into the Sunday roast with a would-be classic at the Bridge.

Fantasy managers are likely to have plenty invested in today’s matches, with recent differentials Christian Eriksen and Emmanuel Adeabayor on show at the Liberty, while Eden Hazard and Oscar will carry the hopes for many in the 4pm kick-off.

The team news from Swansea finds the home side make just one change: Chico returns to the starting XI and takes his place alongside Ashley Williams, allowing Jordi Amat to shift to midfield to cover for the injured Jose Canas. Tim Sherwood also makes just one change to the Spurs starting lineup that saw off Palace last time out. Roberto Soldado’s season continues to go from bad to worse as he’s dropped to the bench. It’s a 4-5-1 from the visitors, then, as Nacer Chadli is drafted in with Christian Eriksen perhaps set to be pushed up behind Emmanuel Adebayor.

As usual, our Dugout Discussion chatroom is open to capture the real-time rise and fall in fortunes as today’s matches unfold.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

        No I won't...

my TV is low so 5th mid gotta be around 4.5, and Noone is good value in that price bracket.
I've been recommending Cabaye for a very long time and I have him myself since GW11/12, when bought him very cheap - 6.2/3. I love the guy.

Whilst everyone is having their half time cuppa I thought I would follow up on my Essentials post (see hot topics) from this morning.

This time looking at. . . 'The Supporting Cast: Part I'

    Keepers

I don't see any keepers as essential, but given the cost of your core team I cant see many opting for a keeper over £5.5m+

Based on the fixtures I would be looking at one of these three...

Boruc. If Southampton can keep cleansheets as they did at the beginning of the season he's a snip at 4.7m/4.8m for a decent side.

Tremmel. Vorms out for a while, so at 4.4 with good fixtures he could be a steal. I imagine the Swans will tighten up with Williams fit again, and Britton back in midfield (watch Spurs score 4 now in the 2nd half 🙂 )

McGregor. Hull are no mugs especially at home, and with Chester crocked he could be a good option. Likes the odd save point too !

    Defence.

From the Essentials you would have Kos/Mert & Coleman/Baines.

In a 3-4-3 I would be looking for a mid priced 3rd slot (pending team value) and x2 cheap and nasties.

The mid price options (under 5.5m)

One of Azpi, Kolarov, Evans, Dawson and maybe Ashley Williams. All have good fixtures, all at decent teams.

Kolarov is the maverick choice which could reap you high rewards, but I'm not convinced on many Man City cleanies give their attack ethos and how/when Clichy will figure. United & Spurs are a bit wobbly at the back but have the potential.

My pick would be Apzi if he can hold down that left back birth. Chelsea keep cleansheets, even more so v top team. Kolarov, plan b.

The 2 places of bench fodder (less than 4.5m)...

Ward, Bardsley, Burner/Hudson, Collins, Williamson, Chambers.

Any others stand out for you guys?????

I think something which shouldn't be overlooked is when to cut your ties with a defender.

I had Koscielny earlier in the season he got me 3 clean sheets in 4 then I cut him out.

I have him back now thou and value wasn't a problem.

I did something similar with Dawson before City/United.
