PlayON Player Picks – Gameweek 28 Free Entry, £250 Pot

We roll out our player picks for PlayON, the weekly Fantasy Football game, as always this Friday lunchtime. We’re on the lookout for potential bargains in our assessment of this week’s PlayON Price List as we look to navigate the fixture schedule, with just eight Premier League matches set to take place this weekend:

This week PlayON have two special offers: 1) A Facebook competition where you can £25 FREE CREDIT – enter here and 2) a FREE ENTRY, £250 POT game – enter on the multiplayer page on the site .

If you’re new to PlayON, it is weekly Fantasy Football so you can dip in and out of playing throughout the season. Once your starting XI is built you can compete for cash.

Similarly, you can challenge other players to one-on-one games, selecting the amount at stake. The likes of Robbie Fowler, Les Ferdinand and OptaJoe are all playing the game and are there to be challenged for free or for £1. The Fantasy Football Scout team is also available to be challenged and has a 52% win rate up to this point. You can also create an open challenge against anyone else on the site – just click the amount you want to play for and the number of slots (number of people who can accept your challenge) on the one-on-one page .

For a more in-depth introduction to PlayON, take a look at this season’s introduction article.

Goalkeeper – Michel Vorm
In a season blighted by injury, the Swansea keeper has still managed to impress in front of his own fans. Vorm has registered a clean sheet in each of his last four home appearances and could well be set to extend that record this weekend – visitors Crystal Palace have failed to score in their last three road trips. Priced at just 7.2m, the Swans number one looks great value this weekend. Hull’s Allan McGregor also remains in the budget bracket. Back after a three-game suspension last week, the Scot chalked up a clean sheet away to Cardiff – at 7.7m, he entertains a Newcastle side that have scored in two of their last nine league matches. Villa’s Brad Guzan is available for 8.3m ahead of a home clash with Norwich. Given that the Canaries have scored three times in the last seven, a shut-out for Paul Lambert’s side looks promising.

Defender – Seamus Coleman
Everton’s free-scoring right-back comes in at just 8.4m ahead of tomorrow’s home encounter with West Ham. Coleman has racked up the Fantasy points at Goodison Park – he’s found the net in three of his last five appearances on Merseyside and his raids down the flank are sure to pose Big Sam’s side plenty of problems. Liverpool’s fit-again Glen Johnson is a bargain-basement 7.4m for the trip to Southampton, whilst Newcastle’s Paul Dummett is priced at 8.2m for the visit to Hull. Handed corner kicks in the Magpies’ previous match, he’s expected to retain the left-back berth, with Davide Santon remaining on the sidelines due to a knee problem.

Midfielder – Pablo Hernandez
Available for 8.3m, the Swansea playmaker has proven his fitness after another spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury. Hernandez has returned in impressive form, too, with a trio of assists in as many matches, and may benefit from a central role once again as the Swans look to continue the attacking form which has produced seven goals in three matches under Garry Monk. Having shrugged off the thigh injury that kept him out of last week’s 4-1 win over Sunderland, Mesut Ozil is priced at 8.8m for Arsenal’s trip to Stoke, with the Gunners looking to build on that Black Cats hammering. Further down the price brackets, you can pick up Norwich’s Nathan Redmond for 8.3m – while Robert Snodgrass has garnered most of the attention ahead of the trip to Aston Villa, his fellow wide man could prove decisive for the Canaries.

Forward – Romelu Lukaku
Finally recovered from an ankle injury, the Everton frontman is priced at a mere 9.4m for the visit of West Ham. Lukaku has already posed his opponents problems this season – he notched the winner on his debut back in September and his physical presence up top is set to hand the Hammers’ in-form defence a stern test on Saturday. If you reckon Sam Allardyce’s side will breach the Toffees backline, Andy Carroll, at 9.8m, could be worth considering as a cheap forward. Back after a three-game suspension, he’s likely to take his place up top as the visitors attempt to chalk up a fifth successive win. Palace’s Glenn Murray was handed his first start of the season last weekend after recovering from a long-term knee injury – at 9.3m, he’ll be hoping to open his account at Swansea.

        Hi Lucy,

        We use Opta for all our player stats and data and sometimes they have players listed in a particular position when they play more frequently in another. I dropped Opta a mail on this subject a few weeks back as D1sable was wondering about Hazard and I got this back from them:

        "Hi Killian – there are a few contentious players in there who play in that sort of position between midfield and striker, however our operations team have deliberated this many times before and have decided to keep Hazard in there as a forward"

        We are happy to rely on Opta for all our data and stats as they are extremely reliable and are the official data partner with the Premier League so we stick with their listings for players.

        Yeah I know...Somebody throwing Yaya at you is see..He's a great pick and a great player, and no doubt (and a 100% stats maverick)...but he isn't the only one who scores every week, they get blinded by their own picks...More than enough goals and assists on this table to ever need Yaya however good he is.

              true, but on his previous droppings from the team, hopefully that is negated by his good performance last night.
              Tiredness shouldn't be a factor, he was used to playing leagues & CL games in short succession for the past 3 years. Also he is v well rested!

    Thinking of transferring in Bassong for -4 to give me 9 players next week (so net -2), but not sure who to sell

    Koscielny - resonable fixture this week, burt would only have 11 players for this week inc Eriksen

    Reid - probably wont play again this week, but would have a chance of a double in GW 31 provide he gets back in the side so selling him would reduce my GW 31 total to 9 players.

    Which is better? Will be saving FT next week

      not hazard; far too unreliable.

      Difficult between the other two:

      Suarez: World Class player and has the better stats than Sturridge, even since Sturridge has gone on this streak.

      Sturridge: Worse stats than Luis but you can't over look his last 7 GWs.

    Hows this for a plan?

    CURRENT:
    Sczeszny, 3.9m
    Ivan, Zaba, Williamson, Ward, Chester
    Yaya, Haz, Lallana, Gerard, Punch
    JRod, Sturridge, Suarez

    This week GW28 - 0 transfers

    GW29 (2FT)
    Gerrard-> Adam
    Zaba ->Azpi

    GW30- 0 transfers

    DGW31 (2ft)
    Rodriguez-> Aguero
    Lallana -> Sterling
    Williamson-> Collins (-4)

    Leaving me with DOUBLES
    Sczeszny, 3.9m
    Ivan, Azpi, COLLINS, Ward, Chester
    YAYA, Haz, STERLING, Adam, Punch
    AGUERO, STURRIDGE, SUAREZ

    Am I missing anyone key considering what my team currently is?

      With no transfers I'll have a full 11 this week and 8 next week. Thinking I'll save the transfer this week and use it to bring on two from the teams playing, although with those teams 9 players on the field could be enough. Don't want to go crazy for gameweek 29 and then suffer in 30 and 31.

        Yeah exactly.
        People will then have a nightmare trying to ship players for GW 30 & 31 if they aim to get 11 out GW 29.
        I'm saving my FT next week.

      I think Benteke to Ade is worth it. Really only a 2pt hit considering there is no Villa GW29. Ade is in red hot form against a shambolic team, Benteke has been useless and is up against a Norwich defence that can be pretty decent.
