The final instalment in our series of Big Numbers articles focussing on Gameweeks 1-3 is rolled out this evening. After assessing the fortunes of defenders and midfielders, we now turn our attentions to the men up front – Chelsea and Southampton’s summer signings come under assessment, as do Everton’s in-form budget striker and the contrasting fortunes of a pair of Manchester-based front men.
Ivan, Moreno
The defenders
Ivanovic and Shawcross.
We've been here before with Shawcross... whats so different about him this year?
He looks, on my table, ready to score. Stokes fixtures are excellent.
have you had a look at Shawcrosses 6 seasons of history?
Aye. I have. 🙂
- and tonight's the night! 😉
I'd like to warn people of the dangers of smoking too much weed ...
I've just done Ramsey - Moses for a hitJaysus! What did you lace the weed with?
I don't know but there must be some form of hallucinogen in there lol
Seemed like a great idea at the time revolutionary even
Poor soul
😯
Amateur...That's stuff all to what I'm capable of if I open a second bottle...
😆 😆 😆
Open it now !!! I implore you to do so !!! Lol
It usually ends up with Coutinho...
Ha ha me too !!! Great at times but so bloody frustrating to own
😆
I feel you.
Hows this WC look?
Begovic (Myhill)
Clyne, Coloccini, Pieters (Duff) (Taylor)
Di María(c), Ramsey, Fábregas, Sterling, Sigurdsson
Welbeck, Costa (Naismith)
*2.6 in the bank*I like this
Tempting to drop Kaboul, prefer the idea of a full back...
Would have £5.7m?Moreno or Clyne. I'm still deciding which.
Moreno would be decent but it'd mean I'd have 3 Lpool players, not sure that's something I'd like
Clyne would clash with Sigurdsson and Taylor the following weekBut otherwise Clyne has outstanding fixtures and loves to get forward.
Kelly...
(4.5)
With Warnock at the helm? No thanks Wakey!
This, as a Palace fan we actually don't look to bad going forward (3-3 Newcastle) but seemed to have forgotten everything Pulis has taught us overnight, Zaha and Puncheon (MAYBE GAYLE) ones to consider for Palace but would steer clear of defenders for now. And to OP, Both if you can!
Debuchy?
Fazio may be due his debut...
How can they bid outside the window?
Yep, teams are usually in negotiations for months over a player.
"Arsene Wenger made a £10m bid for the 19-year-old in the final hours of the transfer window"
I just read the URL haha
😆 to be fair the article is pretty late to the party lol
Bottom of last page:
When does Welbeck stop being price protected?Errr ... he isn't, sadly.
Oh no? One of the price sites have it wrong then. Ah yes of course it's because he transferred within the league right?
Correct, Sir.
Why is he at 0% on TotalFPL then? It's in the right ball park for everyone else
Doos I voted for you for the scout pick challenge btw
Thank you very much! 🙂
8 days after transfer? Guessing
Seems I'm wrong! 🙂
next gameweek
Rate my WC team please 🙂
Bego gilks
Naylor PVA clyne moreno moore
Marney ADM fabs sterling siggy
Kun costa welbeck
0.1Not sure about Aguero; he's pricey, not the best fixtures and can't seem to go 5 minutes without picking up an injury...
Balo?
I'd go with him over Aguero
The rest looks good though
Probably doing this in the next few weeks
Lovren, Eriksen, Mata, S.Fletcher out
Iva, 5.0 mid(will be my 5th midfielder), Di Maria, Welbeck in
What do you guys think?Unfortunately planning transfers in advance next work. Decent ideas though.
Do we think Dzeko will go down in three hours time? If so I am going to pull triggerlips on Dzeko to Adebayor. Ade for the next two until he becomes Sturridge is the plan
Any reason to not go Dzeko to Adebayor right now?
WIth Jovetic injury concerns dont think its worth holding Dzeko?
Best captain choice this week?
Balotelli, Costa, Sterling or Lamela?
Leaning towards BalotelliSterling. Kid's on fire
Lamala since you love him no?
Balo given costas doubt
Sterling
Havent seen Eric Dier's name mentioned recently. How bads his injury supposed to be?
Eric Dier
😆
I walked into that one haha
😆
FLuis: for those who still own him :
1.keep as he might start this gw4 given he played both Brazil matches and see how he does
2.Drop now since there is the chance of 1pt cameo appearance and could drop by sat to 5.6Used wildcard , ended up like yhis :
Bego - Guzan
Shawcross - Hutton - Ivano - Moreno - Dier
Schurrle - Sterling - Siggi - Schneider - Zaha
Aguero - Balo - Naysmith
Considering: Falcao - Welbeck but wait couple of rounds ?Midfield to weak ??
Double Villa defence is not good.
Schneiderlin is waste. Just get a 4.5m filler. (marney or king)
Schurlle won't play everygame. can't you afford Fab?
other than that not too badFoster - Wisdom
vs
Guzan - Hutton ?Krul - Wisdom
I'd prefer
I'm on a wildcard but I'm drowning in dilemma quicksand!
Current team which was trying to earn some dosh in the international break
Krul - Elliot
ShawX-Moreno-Ivan-Wisdom-Hutton
Ramsey-Siggy-Fab-Sterling-King
Aguero-Costa-Naismith
0.3 ITB
I've been caught out by lack of rises in the market so I'm sitting on 0.1 rises for ShawX,Hutton,Ivan,Ramsey,Fab,Sterling,Costa and Naismith.
My main dilemma is that going forward, I want Welbz in for Naismith. I can chuck out Shaw and Moreno for something like Clyne and Naylor OR do I do the unthinkable and drop Ramsey for Zaha, which also gives me 2.3 ITB.
Much help appreciated and will be paid for in me sending happy thoughts your way!I actually dropped rams > zaha
shawcross to wilson, king to boyd, moreno to bertrand naismith to welbs
Cheers guys, still split on this one. Thespecialone has essentially what I was thinking originally(I don't understand the boyd pick though as i have enough money - is he going to start playing more?).
The naismith thing is tricky isn't it? Everton's fixtures look tasty and he's the main man at the moment - do you just keep him and milk the potential further rises?
Oh well, first world problems!Keep king then, do the other two anyway and save the cash?
Current team:
Krul, Foster
PVA, Chester, Wisdom, Coloccini, Jones*
Sterling, Zaha, Siggy, Fabregas, Ramsey*
Rooney, Naismith, Costa*
0FT, no hits yet, 3.9ITB.
What would you do? Take hits? WC?
I'm thinking Jones -> Moreno/Clyne, depending on injury. That move looks good to me 🙂
Not sure if I'd do it for a hit but would be a long term transfer.
But I'm really struggling defensively next week without the hit...
I think it's a good long term transfer but you won't make up the points this week alone. Need a CS to break even basically.
That's a very fair and well-reasoned point.
Clyne looks so good long term that I might do it anyway.Yeah Clyne and Moreno should make it back sooner rather than later.
Which one do you reckon? 🙂
Tough one that. Really can't pick between the 2 to be honest. Liverpool have the better fixtures I would argue but they have CL too. Both will be good options though so don't think you'll go too wrong.
Moreno is a slight rotation risk with CL plus safer to go for 'pool attack over defence!
This. Must be annoying sitting on all that cash
Mata to Zaha created it you see.
Ah I see. Well it will come in handy when the next big hitter shows himself
Exactly my thinking. 🙂
Yep, Jones to Moreno or Clyne (I'm getting both) and your good to go.
Give up
Useful, thanks.
Predicted United lineups
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2750441/Manchester-United-s-best-XI-After-six-new-signing-150m-spent-Sportsmail-s-team-experts-pick-Louis-van-Gaal-s-strongest-side.html
Most go without Mata, some go without Rooney.
I started the season with Rooney, Mata and Young and after 3 games they could all be dropped 😯Rooney won't be dropped.
He may well be.
Of course there is the possibility, I just really don't think it'll happen.
His price has though... 10.4
2 of those predicted lineups says he will be dropped. Not easy to predict at all.
Somebody will be..
Perhaps I'll be wrong, I just think others are more likely to make way for now. My guess is that Falcao will be on the bench this week at least.
one of the big names will be a casualty..i really don't know who..Mata would be my guess.
Rooney is the guy LVG picked as his captain. I think that's worth something
Exactly.
----------------De Gea-------------
-----------Blind Rojo Shaw------
Januzaj Herrera Di Maria Mata
-----------------Rooney-------------
------------RVP-------Falcao------Yeah right. 3 left footers at the back
That's the problem? Not the fact that Shaw is playing CB and Mata as wingback?
Well said.
oh dear
Looks pretty safe to go with Falcao then, out of the 3 Fwds.
You dont get the most expensive player in the league just to sit on the bench. Falcao may be a slight starting doubt this week but he will be nailed on the team pretty soon.
Totally nailed...Welbeck Costa Falcao...
All three will then be benched this weekend and shut me up 😆
Aye..could be...Not after that though.
Yeah they should be fairly safe after that. United dont even have champions league to worry about
Of course, but I was thinking about this week in particular. He's in every line-up.
Fair enough. Who knows really what will happen?
RVP as well....Asked before...Other than the fact they are Dutch and that LVG has said nice things about him whilst Holland's manager (duty bound really)..why do we believe they are somehow joined at the hip ?...are they ?
RVP's career is over. He's getting worse with each game he plays.
I agree..somehow though some posters seem to believe there is some kind of bond between the two...He might hate his guts for all we know...
Rooney is captain, almost zero chance he gets dropped!
Hey guys, also on a WC:
Thoughts on brining in Baines? Everton have some pretty handy fixtures coming up.
What's the consensus on expensive defenders / how much to spend in defence?
Appreciate any advice
CheersWould go ivanovic over baines
Ivanovic is a rotation risk
no he isn't, at all
🙄
He's the weakest link. He's personally been responsible for 3 of the 4 goals Chelsea have conceded so far.yeah, and Filipe Luis is nailed on...
If anything he is the strongest link in attack, he's obviously been given license to go forward. See every previous season he has been nowhere near that advanced and been a beast defensively, obviously part of the tactics. He is 100% nailed there is no debate about it
This season's Ivanovic = poor man's David Luiz.
Sure, he can attack, but he's clearly shown that he can't do so without compromising defence. He'll be dropped soon.he's the most expensive defender?
and if Mourinho wants to shore up the defence he will just restrict Ivan going forward, not drop him because he is still the best rb we have defensively
he will not be droppedWhat does his price have to do with anything? 😆
And defensively, Azpi is the best RB in the league. No disputes there. You said he's a poor mans David luiz. And Ivan is better defensively if he stays back, like he usually does
Defensively, Azpi is far superior to Ivanovic. So is Luis. Do the math.
Pablo says hi
He won't be dropped but he will be made to defend a bit more maybe..same for the Everton lads though...6-3 was a disgrace as a football managers of those two clubs..good for us though.
Ivanovic was atrocious against Everton. What on earth was he doing for Naismith's goal? Also fell asleep marking Eto'o. Mourinho was furious with him.
He won't get that attacking freedom when Chelsea play City and Arsenal in the next 4.
Appreciate the intel on Ivan but that wasn't my question...!
Any advice on how to spend wisely between def/mid/fwd??
The 0.3 extra is a stretch for me but depends what strikers I go for. I prefer baines long term.
If you have a heavy hitter in Ivan/baines how much would you spend for the rest of the defence vs focusing on attackers??
If you could choose any two strikers over the next 5 gameweeks, who would you choose?
Falcao and Costa
kun and costa
hey guys need an opinion before i hit the button what do you think of this wildcard team?
Bego - mccarthy
clyne - neil taylor - moreno - pieters - wisdom
siggy - fab - sterling - di maria -jwp
diego costa - falcao - welbeckStrong.. Click submit don't look back,
Good, as someone else has said, consider dropping JWP to 4.5m bench fodder, look at upgrading Pieters/Wisdom/McCarthy but other than that looks solid!
Best 5.5 midfielder?
I'm looking at matic right now...
Mr Zaha.
+1
easily james ward prowse
Zaha by a distance...
Arfield or Zaha
Zaha for sure, best attacking potential and could even be played just behind the striker.
RMWCT
Krulliot
Clyne, Wilson, PVA, Naylor, Duff/Moore
Fab, Sterling, Siggy, Boyd, XXXXX
Costa, Kun, XXXXX
A) Ramsey, Ade
B) Tadic, Ballotelli
On a WC, all feedback would be appreciated, still not sure over Duff or Moore, don't think Keane arriving will shift Duff just yetMy feedback: you shouldn't have wildcarded if that was the team you wanted.
didnt know zaha was a midfielder , hm . would you go with JWP + 0.4 or zaha
Zaha
Zaha.
Joleon Wright-Phillips all the way
Mata and Caulker out. Sterling and Clyne in for a 4-point hit. Do it?
Yes if you have 0 injury worries.
You won't be the first whose done it.
😉I'd probably just do the Mata to Sterling transfer.
Why so quick to dump Caulker? He's been QPR's main goal-threat. Ivanovic is the only defender with more shots than him so far.... United are poor at defending set pieces too so dont be surprised when he scores this weekend
Can someone definitively tell me whether or not Welbeck is protected?
Is it 8 days from transfer that applies to all (if so he is no longer protected)
Is it until Saturday?
Is it not at all?in previous seasons he wouldn't be.
This season - who knows?Nobody knows but, I believe that based on last year, Mata started rising immediately after moving to United.
Best Chelsea defender to own not named Ivanovic? It's Cahill right?
That doesn't help. I already have Ivan in! I am looking for one in addition to!!!
Oh! Shawcross ... 😀
aye, looking good..
Walked right into that one didn't I...
😉
Azpi
Cheers Wakey 🙂
Bego Myhill
Lovren, Clyne, PvA, Wisdom, Vlaar
Mata, Siggy, Eriksen, Ramsey, Sterling
Rooney, Costa, S.Fletcher
I have 2 FT and 0.5 in the bank.
I'm thinking of bringing Di Maria, Zaha and Welbeck in for Mata, Eriksen and Fletcher in the next few weeks, and I'll have £1.0 left in the bank.
However, I really want to bring Iva in too.
What do you guys think?Gut feeling that Hazard, Costa and Ramsey will all be ok to play?
All okay imo.
Yes
yeah i think so...
I'm not as confident as you.
Thanks for the replies. Going to press on with Mata>Sterling I think
Any Burnley knowledge on? Need to know if Duff's likely to retain his place at the back, and also what the deal is with George Boyd and why he's being tipped to do well.
Ta in advance!both risks (i have both on WC) but i'm hopeful
I'd be more concerned that you have 2 burnley players!!
About to do Naismith to Welbeck, any reason why not to?
everton are playing west borm, naismith in amazing form, welbeck unproven, arsenal playing man city?
Nicely summed up.
I think that's a good transfer.
Fixtures?
Welbeck blank and a Naismith brace?
Not ideal, imo. And I have just got Welbeck. However, I also have Naismith.
nah, wouldn't get danny until after city
Doesn't make sense to me. Arsenal play City.
my theory is having welbeck and ramsey is too much arsenal . so if you have ramz then no welbeck
9 years, 9 months ago
Which 2 out of Ivanavic, Dier, Moreno?
