Rooney’s Extended Layoff Boosts The Hernandez Option

Alex Ferguson has brought us the first dose of significant injury news of the day, suggesting that Wayne Rooney’s ankle injury will keep him sidelined for longer than the expected three week period.

The United boss revealed in today’s press conference that the striker was now likely to miss the derby clash with City on November 10. He offered a pretty vague prognosis, stating that Rooney is simply “injured and resting” ahead of the weekend meeting with Spurs but made it clear that he “could” be missing for a longer period than the intial three-week assessment. When asked on the three week absence Ferguson replied “I think it may be longer.”

This latest information is of course of interest as it boosts the Fantasy potential of Javier Hernandez. The Mexican looks nailed on for starts in Rooney’s absence given his current form and would now seem set to earn starts against Spurs, Wolves and City and possibly Aston Villa three days later. A run of four Gameweeks would certainly increase his appeal as a mid-price option up front given that he can be recruited for just 7.0 in the Fantasy Premier League Game.

With many Fantasy Managers facing up to shifting the injured Carlos Tevez from their squads, it seems that Hernandez suddenly offers improved prospects as a cheap alternative.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Nasri could do just as well as Fabregas this weekend, so I would say hold off

Fabregas is better but not worth the 4 point hit for this week. Nasri is on form and Id certainly don't think Fabregas will beat him by 4 points this week. But if you can do it without the points deduction, do, Fabregas should be better in the long term

I need a differential, who should I captain?

    Hart (Gilks)
    Cole, Elmo, Bosingwa (Jara, Stearman)
    Essien, Nasri, Nani, Fab(C), VdV
    Hernandez, Chamakh (Varney)

I don't think the people I'm chasing in my mini league will have Fab but I'm tempted to captain Hernandez. Or should I be captaining Cole for a better differential?

hi guys. seem to be struggling a lot this season (250k in the world!). my team is in the link. wondering what you think i should do for this week. don't often ask for tips but i think its time as i havent had a week over 60 yet!

these are the transfers i am considering.

    a)malouda to fabs.
b)s.davies to fabs, tevez to hernandez (don't really fancy manus fixtures for the next four...) 4pt hit.
c)malouda to fabs, tevez to torres. 4 pt hit.
d)s. davies to fabs, tevez to any striker under 7 million. odem, elmander and dembele are the ones on my mind at the moment.

it seems as if every call i make this season has gone wrong through injury or some other problem so would love to get some opinions on this. also feel free to comment on the team and its weaknesses. thanks a lot people!

    Hi Antonio,

all is goin well with my Raccoon bitten bum, you'll be gald to know- the doctor said i had a lovely ass for a 64 year old too- the dirty old bugger! Apparently there's a chance of a raccoon infection, which could impact my kidney operation in December. If i catch raccoon, the doctor said there's a 50/50 chance ill be rummaging in garbage by December. Otherwise,I had to get a tow truck for my Rascal, it's a big hog, and too heavy for my relatives to carry in their mercedes. I got a sick note from the doctor, as i couldnt go into work with my bleeding asshole, but I feel great tonight. Ill have my rascal back tomorow and i can go to western Union early tomorrow afternoon and send you the money, as i have a certificate to stay off work for two days! Hooray.

Antonio, i must say, i feel like im really geting to know you well this past week. Im lonely,as my husband died in a luge accident some years ago, and im always a bit horney. WHat age are you? Because if youre in your forties or more , or even your thirties, you don't have to pay me back all in money if you know what i mean, we can have some rumpy pumpy if i come to Dublin Ireland for my holidays? I love a bit of filth!

Have a think about it anyway.

Just know Antonio, that i think i love you, and ill haev all your money in the western UNion so you can get home for the weekend tomorrow.

SOrry for the delay, but im just happy i didnt catch Raccoon!

Brunt or Barton to start? Here's how I'm looking at it:

Barton is at home and will surely have plenty of set pieces to oversee. However, he could be on the wrong end of a red card. Saying that, he seems to have calmed down this season, even with the challenge v Arsenal in mind.

On the other hand, I think Blackpool v West Brom could be full of goals. Two newly promoted sides, both playing attacking football with complete disregard for clean sheets it seems. In fact, they only have three between them all season (Both of Blackpool's have come away and West Brom's at home)

I can't believe this is my biggest decision of the week so far.

Right, you've obviously slept on who Newcastle are playing this weekend. So, just to make it clearer for you, he is playing against Sunderland which is historically a feisty affair, just like any other big derby tends to be. I'm not worried about playing Barton vs any other team, maybe Liverpool because he's an Everton fan and tends to take go in harder playing against them. Anyway, the fundamental point I'm trying to make to you is, I'm only worried about Barton's conduct in this game. He's never played in a Newcastle v Sunderland game before and it could make or break the guy.

Yakubu. Saha only got 20+ minutes v Tottenham and didn't play in the reserves midweek to sharpen up. As for Yakubu, he's playing like he was when he was banging goals in for fun, minus the goals...yet.

    Hola guys!

Ok, here goes, I have Nasri but I want Fabregas. I was going to swap Bale for Fabregas (money not an issue), but now that Tevez is crocked, the only viable solution is to swap Tevez for Chamakh.

My question - Is it worth a four point hit to also get in Fabreags for Bale? That would mean I then would have Nasri, Fabregas and Chamakh. Is that a total overkill?

Anyone recommend any alternatives? This is the first gameweek for me, where I'm not sure what subs to make.

Team - would appreciate your thoughts on whether i am benching the right guys (and have them in the right order)? Made one transfer this week: Malouda out, Fabs in...

    Foster

    Coleman - Salcido - Boswinga

    Nani - Adam - Fabs (C) - Nasri

    Drogba - Berbatov - Dembele

    (Hahnemann, VDV, Simpson, Jara)

    Thanks!

Wow, that news has thrown me.... I was gonna keep Tevez and bench him but is it worth the 4 point hit to get in Hernandez?!

    Robinson (Gomes)
    Coleman, Samba, Shawcross, Cole (Toure)
Nani, Malouda, vDV, Petrov (De Jong)
    Tevez, Bent (Carroll)

    Worth a 4 point hit?
    Tevez > Varney or Campbell
    Petrov > Fabregas

Also, which 3 defenders should i start? Thinking 3-4-3 formation. Also which goalkeeper?

agree with benching Dann... it will be a high scoring game no chance of a cleanie.
Foster should get some points for saves though
